Hi Everyone!I've JUST started reading an Amish book called Temptations by Karen Ann Hopkins. I'm 27 and getting back into reading. So far I'm on chapter 3 and it's a book that each character has its own chapter. Like it alternates sides. There's only 2 main characters. Rose and Noah. I love books like that. I have the 2nd book that I'm going to read after the first book and I have also saved some other Amish books to read on here. I'm not Amish but I'm Pennsylvania Dutch.
Welcome Andrea, just been busy with summer and I have all 4 kids right now while school is out. I like Amish cookbooks too. There are a lot of really nice people on here including some authors so I hope you enjoy.
Yep, we must've been sleeping, reading, or in my case writing! Forgive us ;) Welcome to the group! (And if you get chance, check out my books.) J.E.B. Spredemann

I'm Vicky. I live in Washington State. I just started reading more Amish fiction. I use to read a variety of genres but have been reading more lighter type books lately. I like Amish fiction as well as historical fiction. I also will sometimes read cozy mysteries and light romance (Robyn Carr, Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber.) I just sometimes need a change so I don't like to read all of one type of genre.

Hi, I'm Rachel from Sussex, UK. I'm looking forward to reading more Amish fiction and joining in with conversations :)
Rachel: Welcome to our group. I highly recommend our book for August, The Secret by Beverly Lewis, if you haven't already read it. I am planning to re-read it as it has been quite a while since I read it the first time.

Hi J and Carolyn :) Thanks for the welcome. I have just downloaded The Secret to read in August and am looking forward to it, it'll be my first group read as well :)
Last night while I was asleep I got an idea for a new book. I'm a little nervous since I've not written in awhile. This book will be about a woman, (not sure of her name, age, hair color, complexion, ethnicity, etc.), who wants to become either New Order Amish or Conservative Mennonite. I would not mind title suggestions and name suggestions for the main character. I am also up for a critique on how realistic a story about a modern woman turning "Plain" sound to all of you. I haven't even told my parents about this.
Natalie: I second Jodie's comment--Go for it!! I would love to read such a story, especially if it were fairly realistic. I would love to think that it might be possible, even for me, to become "New Order Amish" if I so desired. (I don't remember reading Plain and Fancy. I think I will have to check it out.)
I have started my new story. I am about a page and a half in. I will keep you posted. Any title title recommendations? These would appreciated.
I would suggest figuring out the title after you're done. To me, some of the most meaningful titles are those that are drawn from a particular meaningful phrase in the novel.
Natalie, I wish I could suggest a title, but I have virtually no creative imagination for such things. Rachel's suggestion of figuring out the title after you're done sounds good.I am absolutely in awe of anyone who even attempts to write a book, or even a short story. In fact, there's a thought--I notice more and more short stories coming out in the form of e-books. Anyway, good luck; I hope it works out for you.
Hello everyone! I am excited to be a part of this group. I love the Amish! I live among them and many are my neighbors. I have read all of the Beverly Lewis books. I own all of her books. I also have many Wanda Brunstetter books. Always looking to try some new authors as well. Can't wait to see what we read next!Linda

Hello everyone. Thank you for including me in this group. I love reading Amish books since they are "clean" books (no bad language, no sexual inuendos, etc.). I also have read all of the Beverly Lewis books but now I am looking for other Amish style authors. If you could help me find some I would appreciate it. Thank you and have a wonderfully blessed day.
