willaful Ooooo, that's the first thing that's tempted me about the Nook Color. Maybe if I see a good refurbished deal...

Regina (reginar) I think it is actually faster than turning a page.

message 153: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yeah, probably.

Leea I loved that the Nook Color could swipe because it's just like my iphone and it was just natural for me. With my Nook I love the page turning button and it's on both sides - fabulous!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I do like the two sides thing. Kindle is the same way. It throws me off sometimes on my color because I tap the left side of the screen and it goes back a page. It makes sense because that's how a book would be laid out, but I notice that I switch off sides when I page turn, if my hand gets sore.

willaful I think the Sony is adjustable in that regard, haven't heard about the Nook.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Has anyone on here converted their nook color to an android tablet? I inserted an SD card and I dual boot. Sounds complicated but it's not. The nice thing is that I have Kindle on the android tablet but still switch back to the nook color. I love having access to both kindle and nook.

Tara (coopergirl) I would like to lend/borrow ebooks on my nookcolor. Unfortunately I cannot get the "friend" feature to work. I have tried to add some people but they say they never got an invite and when they have tried it, I never got theirs. HELP

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I wish I could be more help on this one, but I've never used the lending feature at all. I'm sure someone knows and will answer shortly, but in case you end up getting stuck and no one is able to help here, here's the link to the Nook group. They're pretty good about fixing stuff over there.

There's a group on facebook called nookfriends and they give all sorts of help on the nookcolor . I know others have had this problem and they have done a hard reset and it has fixed the problem.

Regina (reginar) Tara can customer service help?

message 162: by Tara (new)

Tara (coopergirl) Thanks. I found the nook group. Also saw that NookFriends says beta on it, which means they will be trying to fix the "bugs". Anyway, it seems to work sometimes.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments For you Kindle owners out there...

Have you used the text-to-speech feature? how is it? Does the voice sound computerized? Does it work on any book? And will side loaded books work with this feature?

I have a kindle touch that my husband has barely used. I'm thinking of loading some of my books there and would like to use the text-to-speech while I'm at work.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It sounds very robotic, nothing like an audio book. I know some people use it, so maybe it's not an issue for everyone.

However, you can pick a male or female voice and choose the speed, so maybe if it's read faster that would help.

message 165: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I figured it would sound robotic. Do you know if it's a feminine or masculine voice?

message 166: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Both. You choose the gender and you can adjust the speed.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Does this feature work w side loaded ebooks?

message 168: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I think the publisher has to turn off the feature. I believe it has worked for me with my galleys. I will try it out in a bit and get back to you.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I've had the feature work for me with some sideloaded books but not all.
