Jim (jim_) I was saddened to learn that Tony Curtis has died. He was a great actor who had a long career span.

My favorite performances of his are:
Spartacus
Houdini
The Boston Strangler
Some Like It Hot
Trapeze
The Great Impostor

Cindy (webalina) | 583 comments As many films as Tony Curtis was in, I've seen surprisingly few. SOME LIKE IT HOT was of course hilarious. I saw HOUDINI a million years ago. I've seen pieces of SPARTACUS and SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS. And I've seen THE VIKINGS, in which he starred with Kirk Douglas. I believe that's where he met Janet Leigh. That was a much better movie than I expected it to be. Ernest Borgnine was BORN to play a Viking!

Best thing about Tony Curtis? He was GORGEOUS! :)

Phillip | 10980 comments yeah, a handsome guy - so not fair for the rest of us. i think he had more presence than just a pretty face - he had charisma that translated well to the screen and drew the audience in.

Tom | 5615 comments Good old Tony C. I'm feeling rather more bummed by his passing than I can really account for.

Phillip | 10980 comments yeah, he's someone i haven't thought a lot about lately, but when i read an article about his passing and saw some photos from some of his celebrated roles, i felt the same way.

Kim Marie | 31 comments Cindy, you must look up one of my old favourites, The Black Shield of Falworth which starred Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh and was made four years before The Vikings. It contains that infamous line from Tony: "Yonda lies da castle of my fadda."!!

Hahahah...I think I've seen part of that but I can't be sure. I DEFINITELY remember the line. He and Janet Leigh may have hooked up on this film rather than THE VIKINGS.

Geoffrey | 209 comments Never liked him. I understand he was a real bastard to those closest to him.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) He didn't care much for Marilyn Monroe, either he said kissing her in Some Like it Hot was like kissing Hitler? He was good in the Boston Strangler though. He also was a good artist, from what I have heard.
