Hmm I saw this in exclusives today... Looked interesting but I'm still waiting for pay day

Curiously, this is co-written by James Frey (the guy who wrote A Million Little Pieces, My Friend Leonard, and Bright, Shiny Morning) and Jobie Hughes, who seems to be a first time author.It delights me that Frey seems to have discovered punctuation.

I see they've already made a movie! It's coming out in February.
It's actually insane the number of YA books being made into movies. Why should screenwriters come up with original ideas anymore? Sigh.

It sucks when they cock up a story you love though.
Problem is that happens waaaaay too often. Therefore, if I love the book, I generally avoid the movie. It's just safer for my sanity. Unless, of course, one of the actors is pretty to look at. :P
They almost always ruin the book for me.. Its just better in my head somehow

It's a pleasure, guys and girls. :-) Yep, I was really surprised to hear that Frey was involved with the book, but then again, he's doing so much at the moment (there are also rumours that he is in fact John Twelve Hawks, too).And ye man, book-to-movie conversions are difficult, to say the least, but it's when they disrespect the book and completely change it that I don't dig it - think of Percy Jackson and Jumper.
I'm hoping for the best, though - the plot isn't too complicated, so it shouldn't be too difficult to translate it to the screen. :-)
Unless they cast a Jonas brother as the main character... ;)
