Seeking Picture-Books with London and/or English Setting/Theme

Haven't read it since I was a kid, so I can't say for sure how much local color it actually has, but how about Madeline in London?

The same thing happened to me! My mom went to England, and I said, "Could you get me "A Bear Called Paddington?" She said, "You want a stuffed animal?" I said, "No, that's the name of the book."

Anyway, she brought me back the updated picture book. But it all worked out VERY well, because I since discovered our library here has the chapter book! Plus, the picture book is very cute!


I've also read "London Bridge is Falling Down" by Peter Speir (sp?) although I must say ds wasn't really into it.

Another possibility is "This is London" from the "This is..." series by M. Sasek. (Miroslav Sasek) Also, I think there is "This is Britain" in the series?

Barbara McClintock wrote and illustrated a charming picture book based on a Dickens story. See if you can get a copy of Molly and the Magic Wishbone

Thanks BunWat, I need to do a lot more exploring. As soon as I clicked on the site my son's eyes got big, he loves pop-up cards and there were some really neat ones. It is going to be fun.
