Do Anyone Uses Wordpress? Wordpress is Better Than Blogspot

I personally use Wordpress. While I prefer using the free online version, there is also the version of Wordpress that you can download and really 'jazz' it up. I do try to keep my blog up to date and all, but Wordpress I can do a Quickpress which allows me to blog any where at any time on any page... I love that feature.

Okay, I'm done ranting.

You can put up pictures in Wordpress. I like how you can upload pictures to your media library for future use and when you are ready to use it in a post, you can click on the picture tab on your new post and chose from the library which picture(s) you want to use and click on insert and the picture is put in your post.
Wordpress free account gives you 3gb to add pictures to your account, whereas blogspot only gives you 1gb.
I'm sticking with Wordpress right now. I don't have time for blogspot and their deletions.

You can download Wordpress for free from their site, and it really does take just 5 minutes to install it. Pouf, your own blog, website, or website/blog. I do admit, this is somewhat techie . . . but it definitely is NOT rocket science.
To my knowledge the only Wordpress that can be downloaded to a person's computer is Wordpress.org. The program is free, but you will need someone to host the blog.
On Wordpress.com, the Wordpress company host people blogs for free.
Some people like paid blogs, because they like to use if for their business.
I'm okay with a free blog. I am not trying to promote a business.

Down the road, the premium (paid) features I'd like (which you automatically have with your own server), are your own domain name, the ability to customize--could be just a minor fiddle--the CSS, and the ability to insert video clips.

I like Wordpess Delaney. I don't mind that I can't do a lot with Wordpress, like change the page color or font, but it's working out fine just the way it is.
I still have yet to start my book blog on there. I'm so busy with other stuff, but before this month end, I will have some post on my blog. I have the addy already.

For the time being, it works for me, and FREE is my favorite price.

You can fairly easily add your own header image, and there are many, many plugins that allow various things--such as embedded video, audio, etc. See: http://jplathrop.net. This is the free version, using a very simple theme--I think it's called SimpleX--and very little adjustment to CSS. Basically just different plugins.

My experience is you can't change your background, although some of the templates give you a couple color options. Like John said, you can change your header.
I'm not able to add video to my site without upgrading, but I can add images easily enough. For my book trailer, I just inserted a hyperlink to my YouTube channel where the trailer is stored. I have no knowledge of CSS, but if you do, you could probably make a lot more changes. Here's my website, in case you want to see some of the things you can do without knowing CSS: www.delaneydiamond.com.
No, you can't change the background color in the free version. I am not sure about the paid version. But, you can change your header's picture. You'll have to crop your picture to fit. Sometimes, you'll have to save your picture to your computer a lot, before the picture is the right side to replace the current header picture. But, it's worth it, if you want to really change your header.
What I also like about Wordpress, a person doesn't have to be a member of Wordpress to leave you a comment. Before my blog has gotten deleted on Blogspot, I've noticed that they have that option as well. At first they didn't.
Another thing that I like about Wordpress is that they have categories. Blogspot have labels. With categories, you can find other people that you have a category in common with. With labels, you can't do this.
For example. Say I write a post about Sam Starrett and name my category Sam Starrett. Well, when I click on my Sam Starrett category link, I will be able to see links to other people's post, who has a category called Sam Starrett. The only way that I will not be able to see other people's links, is if I give my category a sub category title.
I like this feature in a way, because this is how you can meet other people you have things in common with.

Yes Delaney. That's why I like this. In Wordpress, you don't have to worry about another window opening, just so that you can leave a comment either.
I'm going over to Wordpress, where your material belongs to you anyway. On Blogspot, they own your material.
