Great! So Im thinking that even if we start with just a small group for now then that would still be awesome because it makes it more close knit. And you guys are like the pioneers of this thing because we'll all be working together to try different things and find what works best for our group...So...Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on HOW we should go about choosing each book for the month?
The only idea I had so far was that we could go back to the "old school" book club concept. And I was thinking we could take turns and choose 1 or 2 people to "Host" the Group read each month. Whoever's selected would be responsible for choosing a book and coming up with discussion questions about the book to keep the convo flowing. We could choose 2 different people each month until everyone has had a go.
So thats my idea...any others???? I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys

I think that's a great idea Krystal. I was also thinking that sometimes a bigger, longer/more mature book might now be as interesting to me as it might be to Stephanie, and a book that I read might not interest you. So I have two suggestions on that topic - 1. We compile a list of books that each person submits, and we have a poll to see which one to read so that we're all interested.
2. (my favorite) I think we should have two books per month, one that's more kid friendly and one that's longer and more mature. We can talk about both of them and people can choose which one they want to read, or even read both of them. And by kid friendly, I hope you know I don't mean some stupid little 40 page fantasy book. I mean titles like Graceling, Unwind, Everlost, etc.

Yeah right. Those bug me. The shortest I can stand is a Warriors book.

I seriously have no idea what to call you......and Im the nickname Queen so if you stumped me then your good! I'll stick with Na'viAnywho.....those are great suggestions, I was worried about the age differences within our group too, but with suggestions like the ones you have I think it will all work out well.
I prefer your second idea over the first one! I thought about having everyone select a book, but if its only going to be a small group of us, then everyone may vote for the book they suggest and then we are at a standstill. I like the idea of having 2 books a month, and making sure they are books that we all "want" to read, but sometimes you find great treasures in books that you never thought youd like. (like Twilight for me )
yah i liked the age thing too becuase i was really worried about the age limit

Sounds good, as long as I don't have to do it first because I am new to this.
Sure thing...The group hasn't done a group read before so we'll all be growing and tweaking it together. The great part about that is that its really hard to make a "mistake" when your trailblazing a new path! You guys are great.
So are you, Krystal, for wanting to organize this and taking action. It's going to be so much fun.
Do we have to host? Cause I'd rather not since I'm sometimes MIA, but I still want to read and discuss the books

That is a good question…I don’t have an exact answer for you yet because we haven’t worked out all of the details yet so I’ll have to get back to you with a definite answer. I will say though that those hosting will be doing it for the entire month, so unless you’ll be gone for months on end, then it shouldn’t really affect anyone too badly. And I was thinking that we'll definetly let people know almost 1 month in advance that way they can have time to prepare.

How about reading 4 books in a month and we all will nominate 2 books each month and then will vote for them the books with most votes will become that month's group read and the person nominating that book can host the discussion..???????
And we can also increase or decrease no. of books every month you know for exam time or holidays and all .
those are very good suggestions...my only thought with having everyone recommend a book is that since ther are so few of us who are interested for the moment, I didnt want to run into the problem of having 8 different nominations from the 8 different people participating, because then we'd run into a standstill.So Im not sure how that would work unless you have any ideas about that?
how about each person can nominate 1 book and voteing will be held for 1st 4 books ..?????
Well, I don't think that would be fair because what if some people are on more than others? Their books would have a chance, and those who hardly ever have a chance to be on would never have their bookschosen.

Why doesn't whoever is going to host choose their book for the group, then everyone will get the book that they want? Just another idea.

ok guys, so thanks to everyone for providing their feedback, etc, so that we can all work together to make this thing fun, interactive, and interesting...I think it would be good to start early Nov, so us mods will post something shortly letting you guys know what the final decision will be!!thanks again!!!
i dont think i will be able to do it after all due to school work and sports but i would still loved to be involved and commet if i have already read the book or just read a few books with you guys during a none busy school and sport time
Ok so, I hate to burst everyones bubble, but November has sped by me, so we wont be starting until December, which is actually better because now we will have more time to let you guys know what the books will be ahead of time, so that you can go to the library, Barnes and Nobles, Thrift store (I find the best book bargains there), or wherever you shop to get the books! you'll be hearing more from me by this weekend about this! im still prety excited!

So I've been toying with this idea for a while and I wanted to present it to you all. I was wondering "IF" we were to start doing monthly group reads together, who would be interested in participating? Just to make sure we are all on the same page, what I mean by monthly group reads is that we would select 1 or a few books to read each month, and then discuss them here. Soooo....who would be interested?
