Sharla (sharlashangeling) | 4 comments What is your favourite book cover?

My publishers just released the cover for my new book -

What do you think?

Deborah | 283 comments I like it - I like the font treatment on the titling and I like the fact that the figure of the girl is not standard "fairy princess with long tresses."

Sharla, I wanted to ask you and to let all the other newbies know that if you start a subject to please select the appropriate folder. This saves the moderators work, and allows everyone to know where to look for the things they want. Thank you to everyone.

Heidi I often choose a book because of its cover. I work at a book store, so when I am shelving many books catch my attention. The book I am reading right now is a perfect example.

Robbie Bashore | 592 comments I find myself troubled that the Little House books I read as a child now have "updated" covers. Doesn't give me such a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Robbie, I'm SO with you on that! When I recently looked at my copies of Little House, I had a flood of memories about reading them. I found a bunch of my books I read as a teen, and was overcome when looking at the covers - I knew which ones I LOVED and even why in that process! When they change the covers, it robs us of that.

Robbie Bashore | 592 comments Yeah, I bought the set to read to my children, and just don't like the photography covers. In the back of the book, it shows previous covers, and I feel such a longing for my children to see and feel those books--complete with the plastic covered book sleeves!

Yick, I just looked up these new and improved covers. It just does not seem like Laura without the Garth Williams illustrations. Although he wasn't even the original illustrator.

1. That is disgraceful. Some things don't need to be updated. However, I love my Time Quartet boxed set that was released in 2001 with new cover art by Peter Sís and I'm sure other fans didn't like it.
2. It looks like the Garth Williams illustrated ones are available in a box set from Amazon.
