How Do I Participate? -- The Rules
Do the books I've read in September so far count as well?
i have a question about this:10 POINT TASKS
10.1: New Authors - Read 2 books from authors whose work you've never read before.
10.2: Debut Authors - Read 2 books from authors that published their first books in 2010. You can use the 2010 Debut Authors list for help.

if i read an author's debut novel, it is also a NEW author so...how's it done?
also, can i add books that were read in september but before i joined the group?
Def! Add any books that were read no earlier than Sept 1st. And for your other question, the book/s wil count for both! :D
okay thanks! but in that case if i read a debut novel, ill have 20 points always. to make it a little harder why wont the new authors just not count for debut authors?
Hmm, true. I guess that would sort of ruin the fun. Okay so:* Debut authors DONT count for new authors.
* When reading a debut author, you will need to read a truly *new* author to you to claim points for the new author task.
Make sense?
I think Z that you could change the ruling and say that books only count for one task. To make it a little more fun/hard/challenging.
My question is if a task is for example to re-read 3 books and you read all 3 that's worth 5 points total right? not 5 points per book?If it's worth 5 points per book can you only do a portion of it and just get a portion of the points?
I'm assuming I know the answer to this but I like to double check :)
LOL! When I planned it, it was just 5 points for whenever you finish rereading the 3 books. I figured that might have beenan easy task, so I didn't make it worth so much. What do you think?
yeah that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure because I probably won't ever re-read any of the books we read in school, the ones I can remember were bad and I can not imagaine spending the time on it...yep but I would do the other re-reads lol Sounds good I'm going to post some things that I have already done this book...funny enough every book I have read this month (only 5 but still) are all new authors to me! but my current read is not!
"- Books shall only count for one task! So don't waste time reading it again for another task, because you won't get points for it! "I shal a few times on the completed list that people had the same book listed for two things, if I understand this right they don't get points for them each time so you may want to keep your eyes open for that and let everyone know :)
Alrighty. I have to look again anyway, to make sure I did everything right. Thanks for the heads-up, though :).And ohhh; I'm not sure. I didn't think it washard enough to be a 15 point task. Do you think I should change it? Or leave it where it is?
Leave it :) that's why it's a challenge but I didnt like any of my school books and don't have the desire to give them a second tryLook at me I join in and go around and sound all boss *cowers* I swear I'm not bossy
It was! I mean we did some plays that weren't too bad but I'm not a big fan of reading plays because of the way they are written
Yeah, I don't like plays either, but sometimes we have to read them out of our literature book. I only read them because there's usually an assn that's for a grade. Lol

i dont know on which category to put them
Question. What if I'm reading a book that covers 15.1 and part of 10.1 can I count it for both? Or only one?
Thanks, Meghan for answering questions in my absence! And what she replied w/ to your questions is correct :).
Ok I am confused...and trust me that doesn't take much...I have two children running around me and making eachother angry!!
So...We have 6 months to complete this right?? Do we have to do this in order or can we start with the 100 points challenge and then go on to the 5 points challenge????

You can complete them in any order. You also do not have to complete the whole challenge. If you would like you can repeat any challenge except for the 50 and 100 point tasks.
What she said :). The 50 and 100 tasks do have restrictions on how many times you can do them and claim points. Any order can be read. You could start with 25 pts and 35 pts if you want. Your choice. The whole challenge is not mandatory. Just 31 different tasks for different tastes.
hi I just joined the group yesterday. I just wanted to kno if I could add books I read from September until now? btw its a lot so if u want to limit the amount to a certain # I understand
I have a question. for this task session the folder with the tasks says September to may. I was just wondering if the tasks will go on to may or will they change in February?
Woolfie wrote: "ok so for the 15 points for heroines, if I read three books does that mean its 15x3?"OK - now I'm confused? I thought when you do (like task 15.2) you get 15 points not 45 points? Please clarify!
Refer to Post# 27 & 28

If the task only specifies that you read one book to complete it, and you read three different books that will work for it, you can put them all toward that task. Since the task only said you had to read one book to earn 15 points, you would earn 45 pts if you used all three books for that task.

1.) Introduce Yourself!
2.) Go to the Finish-Line Names page and tell us what your Finish-Line name will be for when you claim points.
3.) Look at the June - August 2013 Tasks and start reading! (Keep in mind that you can complete these tasks more than once, but each time you redo the task, you must read new books!)
4.) When you've finished a task, head to the Completed Tasks topic to claim your points.
2013 Schedule:
~January-May: finish current session
~June-August: Summer Mini-Session
~September-November: Autumn Mini-Session
~December: begin new full session (will last through May)
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
- Books will only count if they are finished during the current challenge period. If you join in the middle of a challenge session, any books that you have finished on or after the start date will count.
- The Finish-Line will be updated periodically. Somewhere around once every week, unless I check back more frequently.
- Each book can only be used for one task.
- All of the tasks can be redone as many times as desired EXCEPT for the 50, 75, and 100 point tasks. 50 and 75 point tasks can be done two times each during a challenge period, and 100 point tasks can only be done once per challenge period.
- Make sure you provide all the information necessary when claiming points:
Your Finish-Line name (unless it's the same as your GRs name)
Task number AND name
Book/s you read for that challenge (either link to the book, post a cover, or list the book's title AND author)
Required/Optional Info
Total Points Earned for task
(If you'd like to claim points for more than one task in one comment, repeat lines 2-5 before continuing.)
Total amount of points for the current challenge session
Total number of books read (optional)
Total number of pages read (optional)
