I have a couple of questions.
One: I have heard people say that Clary and Jace may not be siblings. Is this true?
Two: Are Alec and Magnus Bane going to be a couple?

I'm totally in love with your books.
So, are we gonna see more characters from Infernal Devices on TMI? Could you give us just a hint about someone who might show up in the future?
Thank you!

2) is the teaser, " Magnus still had his head in his hand.”i just don’t see,” he said,
“why the past has to matter.”"
was he talking to Alec about his ex? does she create problems with them?

Cassandra said, "I guess I would say, if Mortmain had the technology to create an automaton so sophisticated that it didn't even know it was one, why is he doofing around with these much lesser models? Of course perhaps Tessa was created by someone else, and what Mortmain is after is the secret of how they did it .... ;)"
I thought his part in Tessa's creation was that he brought Tessa's Mom and her father (whoever he truly is) together at the club. I thought I read her father posed as Tessa's Mom's husband. Since Mortmain's human I'd guess he couldn't have done much more than that considering his life span. I do read a lot of books, but I usually can keep them straight. Am I wrong?

I was wondering how you came up with such a unquie idea for the MI books. Like were you in a store and was like that could be a good idea to write a book, or did you just start writing and it grew from there?
Love your writing!

I'm pretty sure the rights to the book were optioned for.

Since Tessa is immortal and won't die, doesn't that mean she'll end up alone? Will or Jem won't age and die so will Tessa end up like..."
Cassandra! You should really answer this one because I really want to know the answer to it! (post #308)

So now my question is What is the new book to the Mortal Instruments going to be about?
Also, how did you come up with the idea for the series?

Not to jump in ahead of Cassandra Clare on this, but this question has already been answered several times. We shouldn't make assumptions about anyone's immortality or lack thereof, and just because one person may live longer than the other shouldn't negate the entire relationship.
I'm paraphrasing Cassandra here, but I think that was the gist of it.

Not to also jump ahead but post 336 by Candace is right - as Cassandra has pointed out, chances are that humans that are in love don't die at the same time. Why should that fear prevent love? :)

By the way, half way done with Clockwork Angel, super dark and wonderful! So far so good!
Thanks, Heather

I love your books! You are so creative! I see people at school, boys and girls, and they have their head buried in your books!
Here's my question:
Who is your favorite couple to write about?
Thanks! Keep on writing!

I heard about the second TMI trilogy, and I'm excited, but having watched the Maximum Ride series go through a period of descend, I'm afraid another three books might ruin the first TMI trilogy because the first TMI books were somewhat centered around Clary & Jace's love life and Valentine's...evilness, and now that both problem's are solved, what will happen to the series? I'm sorry to be so blunt, but I seriously love your books and couldn't bear it if they were to...descend to the level of ordinariness.
Oh, and I just finished the Clockwork Angel this morning! Yay (:

etc. So in better terms do you already know how the series will end and what will happen?

*********SPOILERS FOR THE CLOCKWORK ANGEL*************
Sometime during the book, wasn't Jem's cane broken in the first automaton attack on the Institute? In the later chapters it appeared whole again, so that got me a bit confused.
Also, Will's character is so distant! :O

Just wondering if Will has the white star shaped scar in CA (the one that Jace and all the Herondales have)???
Love Jem but I have to say - I'm team Will at this point in time.
Also I LOVE the books!!! Am in Australia and very sad that I can't get my hands on a COG with the chapter of COFA - have considered ordering one from the US and probably will as the suspense is killing me!!!!

Based on the supreme awesomeness of the first cycle of TMI, do you really think Cassandra Clare would give us anything other than awesome?
But, I do agree; some series have tapered off in the level of quality, but I doubt that will happen with TMI since Clare spends a lot of time outlining the story.
I expect the second cycle to be just as amazing as the first. :)

Since you've said that the next to covers in the ID-series will feature Jem and Tessa, respectively, would it be right to assume that they are The Clockwork Prince/Princess?

is the cute, sweet, video-games-lover, best friend forever (yeah I'm talking about Simon) ever going to get what he wants and deserves?
he deserves a happy ending!
also, is Simon's band having an apperance in the upcoming books? I miss those guys! ):

Cassandra Clare, you are my favorite author. I'm one of those people that is always able to predict the ending of a movie or book but you always kept me guessing which is so refreshing. I get so emotionally invested in your books that when you torture your characters, you torture me (a sign of greatness in my opinion).
My question is on TMI since I am currently reading CA.
1) Jace has been constantly tormented with his love for Clary, finding out she's his sister, temporarily disowned by his adopted family, not being trusted, finding out he's been lied to and that Valentine isn't really his father, Jocelyn not wanting him to be with Clary, upsetting the delicate balance of life and death (excerpt from COFA) so on and so forth. Will the poor guy ever catch a break and be at peace with himself and those around him? He's my favorite character and I find myself feeling concerned for his well-being, haha.
2) Is there anything new you can tell us regarding the graphic novel? I can't seem to find any new information dated after Free Comic Book Day.
Thank you so much for all the time you devote to your avid readers! It's greatly appreciated.

Hope this helps!

**Spoiler??**
At the end of CA when Tessa was reading the Codex, she confirmed what Will said about how Warlocks can't have children. Jem mentioned that they weren't entirely sure about her lineage and that she's special. If Warlocks truly can't produce offspring, would it be a fair statement that there aren't that many Warlocks out in the world? I mean, how often do demons breed with humans? And, if her mother wasn't a human would she and a demon actually create a Warlock? I don't believe there was a "term" for what Sebastain was, is there? Are demons and faeries able to produce?
Also,
Will we learn more about Church later in the series? Jem had a hunch about Church being special when he found him, but Will didn't seem that excited about him. Did the connection between Shadowhunters and cats begin with Church or long before that?
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer your fans-it is really an honor!

Before reading Clockwork Angels, i decided to reread the Mortal Instruments series, and i have two questions.
1) While rereading City of Glass, I found a little part at the end around the time with the celebration.
It was when Clary saw Magnus talking with a brown haired girl that looked strangely familiar. Could that possibly be Tess?
2)Will Valentine make a reappearence in any of the newer books? Really, at this point, it wouldn't surprise me.
Sincerly,
Your Loving Fan

And she said earlier that Valentine was dead and not coming back.

I love your books! I hope to be an author one day, too.
I have a few questions. :D
1. Does the star scar start with Will? Or is it a descendant or ancestor of his who has contact with an angel?
2. Do we find out what, if any, ulterior motives Magnus had for acquiring the White Book? Beyond the fact that it's a rare, valuable book of magic? :D
3. Are there any shout-outs to Holly Black's books in Clockwork Angel?
Thanks so much for being so interactive with readers and for having question and answer threads like these.
And congrats on getting married!

1. I was wondering how often Alec spent time with Magnus alone in TMI. It didn't feel like they had enough time together to develop a romance, though they are so sweet together!
2. How did their relationship develop and what drew them to each other? What made Alec decide to pursue a relationship with Magnus even though he still cared about Jace?
3. Does Alec's physical similarities to Will have any significance in Magnus and Alec's relationship?

1. http://www.cassandraclare.com/cms/faq... : She is in the epilogue of City of Glass. “‘Magnus stood in the shadow of a tree, talking to a girl in a white dress with a cloud of pale brown hair. She turned as Magnus looked toward them, and Clary locked eyes with her for a moment across the distance that separated them. There was something familar about her, though Clary couldn’t have said it what it was.’”
2. CC also said earlier in this discussion that Valentine *is* dead.

Hello Cassandra, I absolutely love the Mortal Instruments series as well as Infernal Devices so far. Your books have some many layers to them that keep me interested and wanting more and I must thank you greatly for that. =) I have just a few questions...
1. Is Church in ID the same as the one in TMI or did they just keep renaming the cat living in the repository Church? I am assuming it is the same cat because of the mannerism that the cat displays.
2. Will we learn more about Tessa and understand why she was never fully accepted by the others besides the fact that she isn't a shadowhunter? If I remember correctly she was apart from the group in CoG when she was mentioned.
3. Will seems to be troubled just as Jace, who is obviously a decendant of Will's; will we learn more of the meeting at the end of Clockwork Angel with Mangus and Will so we better understand his troubles?
4. I find it fascinating in Clockwork Angel that everyone in the house seems to be in love with one person who does not return that love back (ie Sophie to Jem, Jem to Tessa, Tessa to Will, Charlotte to Henry, etc.) What made you decide to portray the characters in such a way? I love it because there are so many different sides to the characters that way and find it very interesting.
5. Jessamine seems to be conflicted with what she truely wants (being a shadowhunter/being taken care of by a husband) she reminds me so much of Isabelle, any way she is a decendant?
Thank you so much for doing these Q&A's for all of us fans! You are absolutely my favorite writer. I have so many more questions bu I figure the books will eventually answer them =) Thanks so much for these great books and the ones to come!

But I just wanted to tell I think I know why people are asking you about Clary falling for the wrong person. They are getting it confused with Jace, Jace is the who will fall in love with the wrong person, that Madame Dorothea predicted.
City of Bone, Chapter 5, p.g 105.
"The old woman snatched the cup out of his hand and splashed the excess tea back into the pot. Frowning, she gazed at what remained. "I see violence in your future, a great deal of bled shed by you and others. You'll fall in love with the wrong person. Also, you have an enemy." "
So it looks like Clary may have fight on her hands if she's wants to keep Jace :P

Cassandra wrote: " Now. Let us consider normal human relationships. Consider two people madly in love, they get married, stay happily married for fifty years, etc. Unless they both die in the same fiery airship explosion or expire by random chance at the same time in the nursing home, ONE OF THEM IS GOING TO DIE BEFORE THE OTHER ONE. Does that negate the entire half-century relationship they had? Does it make it not worth ever having entered into?
Yes I'm one of those readers that is especially anxious about the romantic fate of Tessa and her two suitors. My thoughts were that I agree with you on the fact that any two people who are in love and grow old together are fated to die at different times simply due to fact of life. But the thing is that those two people would AGE together; they would grow older and visibly age, etc. In the case of the Infernal Devices however, either one of whom Tessa might end up with will probably (and I'm going with conjecture here, assuming that he doesn't die young) grow old and grey, while Tessa remains eternally youthful (as based on her appearance in COG). This is the thing that's bothering me. No doubt Tessa and whoever she ends up with will love each other dearly, but at the end of those 50 years, while the love between them might still hold strong, wouldn't the immortality/mortality difference between Tessa and her lover be a problem? Tessa would still be a young woman, while Will/Jem will be an old old man... gah!

You must get sick of being told just how amazing your books are but I just have to tell you again. I picked up City of Bones purely by accident and have hated myself for not getting it sooner. I can't wait for the next 3 books. I was so excited when you said you would write more. City of Glass is my favourite, you are such a talented writer and have a way of making us readers feel connected with your characters.
How did you come up with the idea for Jace as a character? I absolutely LOVE him and was wondering how you thought up such a brilliant character?
How long did it take you to write City of Bones?
What made you want to write more about Jace and Clary and the others?
I'm so glad you are writing more, I have your book the Clockwork Angel to read and can't wait. You are an inspiration to all! Never stop writing!
Talia wrote: "Have Magnus and Tessa ever considered a romantic relationship together between ID and TMI?"
Heeeeeeeeee. Sorry, they just wouldn't ever be attracted to each other, so to me the idea is kind of funny. No.

1) I'm sorry. I literally have no idea what you mean. There is one clockwork angel in the world in 1878 that we know of — how is that "so big"? And why would the Clave be interested?
2) I'll just say, "Yes, among other things."

On the topic of movies: There is no movie news beyond what is on my website: http://www.cassandraclare.com/cms/faq... which is pretty lengthy and detailed, so I am going to skip movie questions, basically. I just have nothing to add to what's on the page and since the movie has little to do with me, I'd rather talk about the books. :)

Firstly, there’s been discussion in the TMI google group about Henry being a bad seed with some hidden agenda – for those that think this, are they barking up the wrong tree in even speculating that he could be a traitor to the Enclave & his kind?
Secondly, you feature some wonderful poetry by your long time friend Elka Cloke (“Bitter Language” is on my to buy list:), my question is, that it appears to me that writing poetry is a very different skill to writing novels – would you agree with this and did you ever dabble in writing poetry and if so were you any good?
Thirdly, do you have a favourite quote by Will or Jem in CA – their banter is one of the highlights in CA, absolutely had me in stitches many times!
Last question, Mortmain with a little twist of the ring on his finger transports himself to another location (which he did to escape Will when he came to rescue Tessa in the Institute), my question is, is the ring limited to reloction in real time or can he go into the future or in the past?
Many thanks Cassie, considering you've got a wedding around the corner you are making time for us, hope all your plans are going well:)
Cheers

I am absolutely abysmally awful at writing poetry. I d think it is a completely different skill than writing prose.
