On a strange note...I just found out my "ex" passed away last July of lung cancer. We've been divorced 20 years, but it still seems a little weird."

Re the news of the death of your ex husband. Condolences to you, to lose someone who was once important to you is hard no matter the current circumstances.

Sorry to hear about the death of your ex husband. Any death brings up emotions of things past.

Fred had another CAT scan on Friday. He had his Dr's appointment this Wednesday. There is more shrinkage. Tumors have shrunk another 10%. Fred has gained 8 pounds since last month. Dr. said, " I'm ecstatic about how much you've improved in a short time." I had talked with another patient in the waiting area and he had been trying to gain back his weight for over a year. If Fred gains another 25 pounds he will be at the weight he was before this began.
Meantime, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we both work out with hand weights. Fred works with 3 pound weights in various upper body exercises. He is now beginning to get a small "bump" of a biceps. His triceps still need to tighten up the loose skin hanging down.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we do a brisk 45 minute walk in the neighborhood. He's starting to get his butt back and his calves are tightening up. He's also getting color in his face, and his face is filling out along his jaw line.
This is a great early birthday gift. Fred turns 61 this Sunday.
Thanks for everyone's concern
Lorraine

Totally wonderful news, Lorraine! What a great birthday gift for both of you.
On another note, my 37-year-old niece is having a double mastectomy on Wednesday due to breast cancer. She just seems so young for this. If you could all say a prayer for her it would be appreciated. She has 2 young children, is divorced and the father isn't much in the picture. She definitely has a lot to deal with.

I was told a long time ago, it's up to God's hands now. I just try to do my best to make Fred feel strong to keep fighting the fight.

Melodie ~ Will keep your niece in my prayers too!

I am so sorry to hear about your niece, I hope all goes well and her hardships will ease.

Melody, will send up prayers for your neice. That is unfair, she is way too young to have to deal with that.

This month's visit he did not have a CAT scan. He gets that next month. He has it every other month, this is to keep the amount of radiation Fred receives down.
Dr. can still feel tumors around the liver, but they have gone down a lot from September, when this all began. He can't feel any on his left kidney. Next month's scan will reveal more information. Dr. said he may hit a plateau.
Fred lost one pound since last month. Dr. Turner said he would be concerned if he loses weight every month. He's pleased that Fred is active and his blood pressure is within a good range. This medication causes many patients to have very high BP readings.
We will be heading out on Friday to the annual spring motorcycle rally. We have been members of this organization since 1981. After the rally we are riding to the San Antonio area to catch some more Ghost Towns of Texas.
