Welcome and introductions
Hi Marian!!!! Glad you're here. I've read Image of a Lover at least three times ( it's a suspense). I know I've read Storm Tide but I can't recall it, and I also loved Strawberries in the Sea and When the Music's Over.
Skye wrote: "That sounds good to me: do you have anything by Virginia Coffman? There are so many we could choose; let's see what Marilyn comes up with, too, and I hope Sabrina and Marian get involved.I would love to discuss 'Moura' by Virginia Coffman! I know Skye has it and I have it. Anyone else? I've got most Victoria Holt books and about six of Anne Maybury so those two are fine with me as well. :-)
Moura is perfect for me: my collection NOW of Victoria Holt is limited, but I do have some of her books; I don't have a thing by Anne Maybury, so I would have to order.
You guys have way more books than I do on this genre.I would only be able to do anything by Victoria Holt,so you guys go ahead, without me.
Hello! My name is Marek and I am hailing from Germany. I always enjoyed horror, mostly as a movie or some Tv Series, not long I read them and enjoy each one of them as they are indeed a work of art printed on paper! I am not very much active as I use every free time to read, whenever I will have more time I will participate in discussions!
Best Greetings
I am very excited to join this group...I first fell in love with gothic romances upon reading The Jaubert Ring by Willo Davis Roberts.
Welcome to the new members!Taffeta, I just bought my first book by Willo Davis Roberts the other day! Looking forward to reading it! :-)
Hey, everyone.I'm in Alabama and my favorite Gothic Romance author is Dorothy Eden--she does excellent family sagas as well. I also love Frances Parkinson Keyes's Southern Gothics/family sagas.
I read a lot of Holt, Whitney, Stewart, etc, but Eden and Keyes are tops for me so far.

I also have Moura, the first 2 of them so I'm game for those when others are. I have never read anything by her and just learned of her on here. I have read several Frances Parkinson Keyes and own several others to read. It's been awhile since I have read any.

I am doing just fine!!! Dealing with the crazy weather.
I had forgotten all about Phyllis Whitney's SeaJade, and I'm trying to find a copy of that; I adored it.
I also loved Dorothy Eden and Dorothy Daniels too! My other faves are Phyllis Whitney, especially her young adult mysteries.
Skye wrote: "Michelle, they are all wonderful! , Dorothy Daniels, too. I also like Virginia Coffman."Since you mentioned Dorothy Daniels, could anybody recommend a couple of what you think are her best books? She wrote so many Gothics but they seem to have mixed reviews. I think I read one book by her years ago but can't remember what it was like. I'd like to try one by her again but want to pick a good one. :-)

I haven't tried Frances Parkinson Keyes either. I'll have to check her out. :-)
I will have to check her titles, Marilyn.BTW, I just found another book from a book blog I read.
The Witch of Painted Sorrows
Have you ever heard of this writer?
Skye wrote: "Bobbie, is she good?"It's been awhile since I read them but I think I had mixed feelings. She has a lot of description and I think they were a little slow at times. I don't really remember them being gothic but I know she is very popular so I am willing to try her again.
Skye wrote: "Cliffside Castle. Dark Haven, Conover's Folly, Night Shadow, Nightfall, and Image of a Ghost."Thanks Skye! I'll check out those titles!
For Frances Parkinson Keyes's Gothic family sagas, try either of these Southern Gothics
or The Inheritance, a Bostonian at his family's estate in Ireland. She's detailed, well-researched historical/Gothic/epic.
The first book in my historical Southern Gothic family saga is out. The Possession Chronicles spans eight books over the years 1904-1929, and book one is set during the winter of 1904-1905 in Mobile, Alabama. I refer to it as Peyton Place meets Downton Abbey in the Deep South. Fans of Gothic family sagas by Frances Parkinson Keyes and Dorothy Eden should enjoy. Book two releases in June, three in November, and more in 2020.
Sounds intriguing, Carrie. I’ve just come out with the second book in my gothic series, Highland-Cape Fear-Thriller series, Stone of Her Destiny, with a family saga that extends from Lebanon Plantation to Tarbert, Scotland with solid history and a lot of fiction. Books 1 and three will be out by June, and there’s more to come!
Book two in The Possession Chronicles released this summer, with book 3 coming in November. While part of the Southern Gothic family saga, books 2-3 have a Gothic horror/Gothic romance edge.
Thrust into a household infested with demons, Magdalene must cling to her faith-and safeguard her heart-to overcome the temptations waiting to snare her.
Hired to be a companion to Mrs. Melling, a woman who still mourns the death of her daughter, Magdalene spends her first weekend at Seacliff Cottage. Besides finding the house filled with vile spirits, Magdalene is at odds with an unearthly attraction to Alexander Melling—her employer’s bachelor son.
Magdalene soon befriends a young Italian deacon, Claudio De Fiore. Together they try to solve the puzzle surrounding the demonic activities within the house.
Meanwhile Douglas Campbell—the Scottish nephew of the coachman for the Mellings—arrives at the cottage. Balancing her growing love for Douglas and the memory of her haunting weekend with Alexander, Magdalene’s struggles worsen. The demons within the tainted walls of Seacliff Cottage are waiting for the right time to claim their next victim.
Can Douglas and Magdalene’s romance survive the murmurs of evil, or will past secrets destroy their lives as well?
Don't know if this group is still active. I am also a fan of 60's and 70's gothic or older. I am reading The Uninvited presently which was written in 1942. Recently read House of Echoes by Barbara Erskine. Hard to find the older fiction but think I will be checking Abe Books when I get a list together. I like the greater detail and mood setting of the older books even though they are quite a bit longer.
Yes, I am still here. I am more of a lurker, tho. But please keep posting and sharing what you all are reading!! :)
Hello! I'm still here too. I recently read Nightmare in July in July, and Always in August a year ago August, and a few others as well. I've also finally completed my collection of the Phenwick Women series, though so far I've only read Augusta, the First. I'm always scouting eBay and Etsy for deals on vintage gothics.
