Sue While waiting for a doctor appointment I traded in 5 books for credit and bought 5 books, classics all: a nice illustrated copy of Jane Eyre, Chekov's short stories, P & V translated stories of Tolstoy, a nice paperback copy of Return of the Native, and lastly Tove Jansson's The Summer Book

Thanks, Kimberly, Robin & Judy!! LOL I also love the cover! ;) For the Stephanie Plum - I was looking for "One for the money", which I read recently, but everything was all in the paperback trade editions, and I won't buy those. But at second glance, I saw this hardcover with the 1st 3 - so figured why not!? LOL

And... got 2 more books this afternoon, which will go to my daughter when I finish them:

Switched by Amanda Hocking & Bewitching by Alex Flinn

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments I've heard great things about Switched - and I love that she published independently before being picked up by a major publisher. Shows her belief in her own work that she put it out there without a publisher and was rewarded for all her hard work! Plus she's funny, I've seen some of her YouTube channel broadcasts.

Sue, very nicely done! Which edition of Tolstoy stories did you get? The Death of Ivan Ilyich and Other Stories is the one I own and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on a few of the stories, particularly Master and Man. The Summer Book is another one sitting on my shelf.

Enjoy!

Thanks Mikki :) I left a few...just not by that author lol I grabbed them all. I love the copies I got they're alll from the late 60s and early 70s and they're in great shape. I was looking at the prices on the back of the book and the original Canadian cover price was 80 cents!

I have The Persimmon Tree on audio too - I started listening to it last year before I fell off the audiobook bandwagon. I love Bryce Courtenay's writing - he's one of my favourite Australian authors. The narrator, Humphrey Bower, is also one of my favourite narrators - he has an amazing range and I love listening to his voice.
