Carolyn F. On the Prowl.

message 3: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments Yeah I am really leaning towards that one...

message 4: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) Dead until Dark. I loved - LOVED that series. Sookie is so easy to fall in love with. I read all the books back to back, over a year ago and i wish that i took my time. But it's just one of those series you can't sit aside. You know what i mean?
I however do not like TrueBlood. I refuse to watch it.

message 5: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments Really?? I don't watch the show and I am unsure if i will like the books...AWWWW I just don't know

message 6: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I like the show and I like the books - they're just different versions of the same events.

message 7: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments I think that I will take at least 3 books to work with me....I just wish I knew which ones to start

message 8: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) I always do that, i often read like 60 pages of each -proir to picking the one that will be read. That way, i will know for sure which one i want to read...or rather -what i am in the mood for. Hope you find yours!

Yeah i wanted to love the show as i loved the books, but it had nothing on the books. It just seemed a tad too cheesy for me. but im thrilled the show is big, props to Charlaine Harris for both the books and the show!

That is a great idea. Okay I know that I am going to take "On the Prowl" and I guess "Dead Until Dark" and one of my supernatural books...See which one catches my eye tonigh...

Perfect! I will admit, it took me a total of 2 months to get into Dead Until Dark. But i beg you, do not give up. I went from Twilight directly to Sookie, and wow there are some differences that threw me off. But now i look at Twilight as kiddish stuff compared to that. And let me know how On the Prowl is, i haven't read anything from Patrica Briggs.....

message 12: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments OMG Patricia Briggs is great... But I love the Mercy Thompson series first it was great. It got me into the whole warewolf thing.... I will try an give a look at "Dead Until Dark"....Thanks "0)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments Brandee, can't wait to hear what held your interest after BDB. I had such withdrawal from BDB I was in limbo jumping thru varies series without falling hard for anything else. I think DH & LOTU pulled me out of the punk.

message 14: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments well right now I am reading "Alpha and Omega" by Patricia Briggs.. And to be honest it is holding me just fine LOL..But I really like reading her stuff.

is Alpha and Omega good? is it more of a PNR or UF? ive read mercedes thompson, but waiting on the last book to that.

message 23: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments ITS KIND OF LIKE MERCEDES THOMPSON BUT WITH SAM'S BROTHER CHARLES AN MORE BRAN..IT IS ABOUT LOVE AN I LIKE THAT IT TALKS ABOUT THE MERCEDES SERIES....BUT YEAH ITS GOOD..BUT YOU HAVE TO READ 'ON THE PROWL' FIRST.

message 24: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) | 594 comments Mod
wht is on the prowl? is it a pre sequel or something?

message 25: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments PRE SEQUEL TO THE ALPHA AN OMEGA SERIES..IT HAS FOUR STORIES IN IT

message 26: by Crazy4more (new)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments LOTU is a very good read! The series' intensity is closer to Midnight Breed than BDB. Its background base on Greek's mythology which I love. It has lots of strong characters and depths for potential long wonderful series like the Dark Hunter. And since we're on NH series chat, it's quiet fun to read but as fun.

I hear so much of Patricia Briggs too. My decision picking a series to read is base on Goodread rec's and number of books in the series and of course availability from the library. The shorter series are read first, that's why my Highlander's 8 books are still by my bed, sigh...

message 27: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) | 594 comments Mod
hahaha. i just started the highlanders book but wit book 4 b/c heard 1-3 arent that good, may come back to 1-3 later. but its a good series so far.

greek mythology?? i love those kinds of books.

message 28: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments HUH...Well LOTU was already on my list to read so thanks for a little more info or should i say alot more LOL...

message 29: by Crazy4more (new)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments lol...you asked...plus LOTU was fresh on my mind AND one my favorites, can you tell?

I feel bad for postponing Highlanders for wks now due to new books and shorter series to kill. I'm loving Mockingjay so much that I'm just hanging to every word. AND wish I can just hide out in a hole so I can finish the book in one seating. These darn chores, schools, practices, etc. are really getting on my nerve....

message 30: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments HAHAHAHA....I understand that...But atleast you can re-live all these GREAT series through me when I manage to get to them..Bc they are ALL on my list to read..And hell or high water I am going to read them...LOL

message 31: by Crazy4more (new)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments Thanks Brandee, what a great friend you are, so generous with your books. When you need a break from PNR and I switched after a really great series due to withdrawals from hot dudes, lol...I lost myself in other genres that recieved raving reviews. I discovered The Mortal Instruments and The Hunger Games are to die for. Enjoy.

message 32: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments Yeah I was looking at the Hunger Games an if it is something that you like I am sure that it is a good read..I am going to go to the book store this weekend even though I have 9 books to read LOL....Its like an a diction LOL....I work for BOOK :0) Anyways Mortal Instruments in one of my FAV....its one of the first sets that i read

message 33: by Crazy4more (new)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments I'm done with the Mockingjay and I'm in awe...nuff said.

What to read next?

I have the first 2 bks of Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep , Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep

and the first 7 bks of Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

I feel bad I might postpone the Highlanders again bc I can knock 2 the other 2 books a lot quicker than 7 bks.

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments Thanks. I'll keep you posted.

message 36: by Dija (last edited Sep 25, 2010 12:05AM) (new)

Dija I love Elemental Assassins. It's an awesome series with one of the best heroines yet. The plot's extremely engaging, even more so than the romance part of the book. I'd recommend it to all the fans of NH, Shifters, CLV, VA, Fever, etc.

message 37: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments I just got the first two of Lords of the Underworld only bc I can't seem to find the first book in the demonica series....

Brandee, hope you'll get your hands on Demonica soon.

wht series??

message 40: by Crazy4more (new)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments I'm reading Elemental Assassins, Spider's Bite. Strong heroine but I have not found the connection to her and the writing style...yet...it has all the potential. I have high standards, Bones, Mencheres, Raphael, Rehv, V, Barrons, Ash...omg, I can go on and on.

You know what mean??? there are some books you read the first couple pgs and you just can't let it go, you just want to find a hole and hide from the world.

How's your Highlander series going?

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) | 594 comments Mod
its going good. im almost done wit book 5. i like book 4 better and i think its b/c in the last book where they timetraveled back to the hero's century there was lot of time spend there, where in book 5 60 or 70 percent of the time is in the heronine's centurey(21st) but still a good read.

i love the whole time traveling thing and we do get some hints in there that relate in the fever series about some of the characters. like i read about drustan and daegus(im reading now) and they have a little mention in the last 2 fever books.

its a great PNR read but the beginning seems to start out a little slow for me for both books but it picks up.

Kathyjacks | 24 comments Mariya wrote: "is Alpha and Omega good? is it more of a PNR or UF? ive read mercedes thompson, but waiting on the last book to that."

It's a good story but not even close to Mercy Thompson. For me it was kind of boring in some parts but I also started this book and couldn't figure out what was going on because I didn't know there was a prequel, so when I read the first Alpha and Omega Charles and Anna were already together and Anna was acting strange and i couldn't figure her out. Once I read the books I did understand some of what was with her but I never went back and read the prequel. Definitely make sure you read that first.

I will be reading the Demonica series soon.. Right now I am reading Awakened HON book....I have read all but NUmber three in the elemental Assassins..I like them

message 44: by Crazy4more (new)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments Demonica series is better than Elemental Assassins, IMO. I'm liking EA after detective Donovan left, good ridden. The storyline is getting better and better.

message 45: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) | 594 comments Mod
I wasn't crazy about the first EA to read on. If I do decide to continue it won't be first on my list.

message 46: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments I am glad that the Detective left to. Like I said I have to read # 3 I hope that he stays gone (lol)

message 47: by Crazy4more (last edited Feb 26, 2011 09:13AM) (new)

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 89 comments You've suffered with the detective, it's time you get to read the next hotness. It goes get little bit better...once you get over the redundancies. It drove me crazy, it was like she get pay per words. Don't give up on the series, I think she has something there...finally.

message 48: by Brandee (new)

Brandee | 54 comments i WILL READ IT I LIKED IT..i MEAN WHEN IT GOT A LITTLE REDUND I SKIMMED HAHA... I FINISH FEVER OMG YOU WERE RIGHT WHAT A GREAT SERIES. I RAN OUT AN HAD TO BUY THEM.I LIKE HOW MAC BEGAN LIKE A LITTLE GIRL AND BY THE END SHE BECAME THIS BADASS WHO MADE THE RIGHT CHOCIES
