To Splurge or Not To Splurge
LOL. Amazing thing language. It never occurred to me that sticky beak was out of the ordinary. Live and learn :D
Yup! It did say that it's mainly used in NZ and Australia so maybe that's why I've never heard it :)
I did it again.... I bought more books.... *sighs* In my defense, I had a gift card, and B&N was having 50% off YA books or whatever it was. *whispers to self* Don't feel guilty.... Don't feel guilty....Anyways.... Here's what I got....
LOL! This thread is your guilt-free way to share your purchases with those who not only purchase loads themselves, but use your lists to buy more! >;)
I picked up two more but in my defense I got them used for 50 cents each. I picked up Sins of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dead and Dateless by Kimberely Rave.
ebay, they're MP3 rather than for the Kindle but for me, that's better since I use my iPod/itunes all the time and they were so cheap :)
If anyone gets audiobooks from iTunes, they are running a special on mysteries and thrillers for $5.95 us and includes a few of the earlier Sookie books by Charlaine Harris.
Sorry people this is going to be bad cause I haven't updated since November. For efreebies please look at my Kindle shelf
Books from Better World Books
Books from Book Depository
the rest are pre orders
Fury's Kiss
Widow’s Web
Gunmetal Magic
Master of Darkness
I think I maybe just need to send my paychecks directly to B&N or something. That's kind of where they end up anyways.... Hehe.Recently, I bought
in paperback.I also bought some Nook books:
(and one more but I'll have to add it later, when I look up which one it was.)

[bookcover:Gideon..."O.O Sooo many good books..... I think I'm in love..... *huge dorky grin*
Have you read Lynn Viehl's Darkyn books yet? I have the first four, but haven't started them yet. Good, bad?
Oh this thread makes me feel so much better about myself :) I have literally more than a thousand books that are on my TBR and when I say that I mean I literally have access to them and can read without spending a dime or going somewhere to get it.
Yet somehow I still have a wishlist with more than 500 books on it :(
Where is all the time to read all these? I have gotten at least 10-15 books so far this month. ($50 dollars in B&N giftcards for Christmas is a wondrous thing.) This doesn't include the books that I have gotten as ARCs and giveaways...

Meghan - You're definitely not alone. Sometimes I think that I actually like the process of acquiring books and figuring out which books I want just as much as I like the whole reading part. It's overwhelming to look at my TBR pile. I keep telling myself that I shouldn't buy any more new ones until I can read a good chunk of my current books, but then...

Ditto, Jean! and a double ditto to I keep telling myself that I shouldn't buy any more new ones until I can read a good chunk of my current books, but then...
I'm very lucky in that my hubby doesn't give me guilt when I break the bank on books. But, whenever a sly eye does slip during a purchase, I always say, "What?! I read them all." Yeah! Right! In my dreams, maybe!
10 lifetimes wouldn't be long enough to read them all. But, that sure doesn't stop me. Ahhhhh, book love. What a feeling. ;)
I could just snuggle up in all this book love, with a good book of course, but its too hot and humid. LOL
Another 24 hours of offers @ The Book Depository on 2nd February. http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/blog/...
The way I look at it our addiction is actually fairly cheap. (Stay with me here.) One book usually gives me days of entertainment and costs less than a movie-- about $8 and sometimes less if I can find them used. There are so many other things I could be spending my money on, but I think I get good value out of my books. Plus, I can trade my not-so-favorite ones in for credit to buy more books. Sure, I have a lot and it's rather overwhelming at times, but it could be so much worse. Money spent on books doesn't count. : ) (Whenever I save money on something else, I always think, "How many books would that buy?")
Thanks Ames, my Cupcake book I got last time, went down a treat with my sis, so I'll be looking this time for sure.
It's nice to know others have the same bookish troubles as I do! Lol! I haunt the thrift shops and generally find too much, but still get them anyway. I either keep them, re-donate them back to the thrift shop, or give them to friends. They are usually only $0.50 to $1.00 there. The most expensive one was a 2 inch thick hard cover of a book I was currently reading at the library for $3.00 (The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I'm also getting the Dresden Files books in audio from my Audible membership. Love the narrator, too.
Enjoy Dresden Files Deb, I'm liking them so far :)I picked up a few books from the charity shop today
I've done well so far this month. Only bought 3 books and for less than a fiver. I ♥ The Works, their fantasy range is getting better and better. AND I've read the first two all ready.
Well done, Ames! I went into The Works yesterday and thought the same, they had Rachel Caine's 'Morganville Vampires' 2 for £3 which I thought was very good :)
I'm a buyer and stasher, then accidentally buy again... I absolutely hate it when I go to hunt thru my piles and find two copies of something!
Lis wrote: "I'm a buyer and stasher, then accidentally buy again... I absolutely hate it when I go to hunt thru my piles and find two copies of something!"Too true. I try to move to ebook...they take less physical shelf space. The problem is that now that I don't see the piles, the problem is even worse (freebies are difficult to resist). I have finally lost the battle with my 500 TBR pile mark...just hoping not to come to 600 too soon. At least my library is starting to have a better selection so I cut back on the acquiring side of things.
When I start a series...it's very hard to let go...even if the story is not so good...I just want to know how it ends. It just happened with
lately. The cover is nice, the world building has promise, the delivery is not all that it could be...but I continue reading.
It all started with that dog gone Border's closing, you don't always get all the books in the series, so you can't start until you have them in order. So I also shop the 1/2 price books to fill out the collection. That was one of the reasons I finally got the kindle, to fill in the gaps. Now the temptation is that I have it in paperback, but for only 1.99 I can get it in eBook format... I'm such a sucker...

I wonder how many authors picked up new fans from that going-out-of-business sale... I know I picked up quite a few books I probably wouldn't have otherwise bought.
I bought a few yesterday. They were all $3 or $4.
This of course leaves me with some more holes to fill too. I also grabbed
for a friend.
My Fiance bought me a Kindle Fire for Christmas and I promised myself I wouldn't buy any e-books but I could browse the freebies... well that didn't exactly go as planned! These aren't in order of when I acquired them, just everything I have on my Kindle.
plus quite a bit of the classic books by Jane Austen, and others

and
Then they would be followed by these:
and
and
I haven't read any of these, they are just the ones I've heard the most good things about.

I have actually grabbed that one but haven't got round to putting all the kindle freebies on GRs and the correct shelf. I started going through them all yesterday and only got to about a quarter of the way through when GRs started to play up (grrr). Thanks for being a sticky beak though! :P
