FOR DOGS
by Douglas J. Brewer
Origins of the Domestic Dog: The Fossil Record by Stanley J. Olsen
There was no bookcover for the Olsen book.
by John Grier & Jeannette J. Varner
Diamond states that the above book by Grier describes the Spaniards' use of dogs as military weapons to kill Indians during the Spanish conquests of the Americas.
FOR ANTELOPES
The Natural History of Antelopes by C. A. Spinage
According to Diamond, the above book by Spinage gives an account of the biology of antelopes, and hence a starting point for trying to understand why none of these seemingly obvious candidates for domestication was actually domesticated.
There was no book cover for this book either in goodreads.

FOR BIRDS
Crows of the world and Birds of Man's World and Estrildid Finches of the World and Pigeons and Doves of the World by Derek Goodwin
No bookcovers at all.
Unfortunately, the one book by Goodwin that Diamond recommended could not be found at all on goodreads.
This is his obituary and the book Diamond recommended was actually Domestic Birds (Instructions for Young Ornithologists) - but I cannot find it.

Here is a reference to the book:

Synopsis:
Diamond states that Goodwin summarizes the bird species that have been domesticated.

CHAPTER ELEVEN
Diamond states that "for a gripping account of the impact of disease on a human population, nothing can match Thucydides' account of the plague of Athens, in book 2 of his Peloponnesian War (available in many translations)."

THREE CLASSIC ACCOUNTS OF DISEASE IN HISTORY
by Hans Zizsser
Plague on Us - no book cover - by Geddes Smith
William Hardy McNeill
Diamond states that the Hardy book was written by a distinguished historian rather than a physician and that this book has been especially influential in bringing historians to recognize the impacts of disease. Diamond also wanted to note the two books by Alfred Crosby which were noted in the Prologue.
However, gooodreads is not cross referencing to these books on this site.
