K I hope the compiler in question doesn't mind, but yesterday I was reading through these great paranormal romance lists!

Here is the link for the first list (of four!) There are some fabulous suggestions here.

Any to add?

Heather (smileyhair) Hey- speaking of amazon lists... does anyone have an opinion about the Kindle, and where the most comprehensive list of Authors available for the kindle are?? I read tons of paranormal romance, and I want to make sure I can read most of the same books before I spend a ton of $ buying it! Any suggestions??

Heather

Jess (jessartisan) | 26 comments I read ebooks on a Tungsten E2 (mid-range Palm Pilot ~$200) using free Palm software called eReader (they also sell ebooks at their site). I like it because I can read in bed at night, whereas you'd need a separate book light to do that with a Kindle because it has no backlight.

The screen is bigger on a Kindle though. And you can download your books and other reading media directly to it via their free wireless connection.

The nicest thing about Palms (or other PDAs) is that they do much more than serve as readers, so you get a lot more for your money. Some cellphones can even read ebooks.

Gina (ginrobi) | 137 comments I live in Canada, so Kindle isn't available to me. But when I saw it come out on Amazon.com (yes, I shop three sites mainly, LOL! Chapters.ca, Amazon.ca and Amazon.com), I read up on it, thinking it was a great idea. It's been a while since I've read it, but it also states that, after a certain amount of time, the book will automatically erase to make room for more. I wasn't happy with that - and I can't even get it! Most of the books I adore I've kept - over 800 books! No way in heck would I want to lose one! So, even if Kindle is ever available in Canada, I will not be one to buy it. I mean, you would pay enough money to have it downloaded to your Kindle so that you can read it. If it's yours, just like a book, why should it be erased automatically? That's like throwing out a book - my God, that's not even conceivable to me, LMAO!

Heather (smileyhair) It might actually get erased from the Kindle itself, but it will be permanently stored at your account on Amazon.com... so you can always add it back into your kindle if it gets deleted. Also, I heard that if you buy an SD memory card you can hold tons more books without them getting deleted... At least thats what I heard. But if it was totally deleted I'd be pissed!!!

Jess- I do have a small palm pilot that I use for a phone which I really enjoy, so maybe I will look into that idea as well!

Thanks!

Jess (jessartisan) | 26 comments I hadn't heard about the deleting issue, but I'm sure that there must be a way to back up what you purchase. Otherwise, you'd essentially be renting a book at full price! That would not be good, heh.

Heather (smileyhair) Yeah! No way would I pay to do that! :-)

Gina (ginrobi) | 137 comments I should have researched it some more. When I read that part, I was so shut off by the idea that I went back to hunting up books, LOL! If there's a way of saving those books you bought on Kindle, I'd say go for it. More room on the bookshelves for books! Woohoo!
