AnnaSophia wouldn't work as Katniss, it just doesn't work.

Maybe their looks but I think they are wrong for cinna.. I just couldn't picture it
i only say ASR because i dont think KATNISS is very likable and i dont really like the roles she has played so far haha

Katniss, Peeta and Gale MUST be unknowns. Anything else just wont do.
Same with the all Tributes-no big (or even medium) names.
I do think Kaya looks like a Katniss, but in the end I dont want to see her cast.
I think two adults should have the star-power, like you said-to draw crowds and add experience to the movie.
Haymitch, Cinna, Effie...at least two of these should be stars.
I think Jude Law is a better Cinna then Michael Urie (Ugly Betty guy-I previously mentioned him), because Urie has played a fashion designer before-and it would seem way to similar to his previous role.

Yes butas I have learned from Suite Life of Zack and Cody guys and girls who are in their twenties can pull off teenagers. (Ashley Tisdale was 25 when she played Maddie.)

Nicholas Cage + Hunger Games = the puzzled expression on my face right now.
*shudders* the lists for the main Kids (tributes and stuff) are HORRIBLE! not that I don't like the actors, I love Emma Watson and Ben Barnes and many of the others, but are we the only ones in the world who think that only the adults like Haymitch and Cinna and Effie should be well-known actors? Seriously?
Even they could be no-names. It might be better that way, but then of course no one who didn't read the book would come.
For some reason, I've done a lot of thinking about who I'd cast, but the tentative list would be:Katniss: Charlotte Best or Madeline Duggan (they both look *exactly* how I pictured Katniss, and they're around the right age)
Peeta: Rhys Wakefield. I'm not a big Rhys fan, but he looks the part
Gale: I just went bank on his name, but that guy from that CIRQUE DU FREAK movie (*not* Josh Hutcherson, lol)
Haymitch: Hugh Laurie. Hugh Laurie. Hugh Laurie
Cinna: Benedict Cumberbatch (he's the new Sherlock Holmes on the BBC's Sherlock, and he was in AMAZING GRACE)
Effie: Zoe Deschanel
Prim: Avalon Robbins (google her - my cousin used to be in Jet Sets with her) or Darcy Rose Byrnes
Finnick: idk. Pick one of the legions of cuties from H&A and cast him :P
President Snow: Michael Douglas. Saw him in the newest Wall Street, and he looks exactly how I pictured freaky-scary Snow to be

I particularly like Michael Douglas and Avalon Robbins (by far the best Snow/Prim I have heard of yet)
I have also been doing A LOT of thinking about a possible cast recently, and even started on a fan-made script one day when I was super bored :)

For Gale...(thank you Leanne) I think of either Chris Massoglia or this British actor dude that I used to have a crush on named Harry Eden. I pictured him as Gale when I read the series
SAM NEILL WOULD BE PERFECT! Ahh, he totally has the creepy/baddie act down, thanks to his role as Cardinal Wolsey on "The Tudors"
Yay! We should get a forum up for Madeline or something though, lol. She had that role on "Eastenders," but other than that, she's still somewhat of an unknown, at least on an international scale!
I think that the guy from Narnia would be a perfect Peeta. They can't have two Glee stars. Naya? Ehh... I think Jayma Mays would be a good Effie!

Yeah. I checked that too. That's probably when they are hoping to release it because I heard they were actually starting to film in 2012.
I guess my teacher was confused then. Sad.
It's only a year :) We waited on Mockingjay for a year. Granted, two years from now, but at least they didn't pull a Half Blood Prince

I've been on the IMDB and found out how to get an audition. It did say sometihng about starting to choose actors in the late 2011. So I hope you are right about a summer 2013 release.

I read somewhere that Suzanne Collins said she didnt want Katniss to be portrayed by someone already famous. She said she wanted a someone new as the role.
I would post the link, but cant remember where it was :S
So that should mean there is a good chance an unknown is cast, because I imagine Collins has a big influence with the film...
