Kate | 8205 comments She doesn't have to be girly though. Actress and actress-as-character often have little to do with each other. The famous isn't good, but I think she would be able to play a totally non-girly person if she wanted to, which we don't know if she does. And she wouldn't be so stupid as to post pictures of herself dressed in $5,000 clothes pretending to be a poor, woodsy person. (And if I recognize that those were 5,000 dollar clothes, that's a big problem)

message 453: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahah, yeah. I like Saoirse, but she's just not right for the part- though maybe more so then some of the others....but that's just my opinion.

message 454: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Well, I've never seen her act, but I don't think she really looks the part. Then again, that's less important than being able to embody it.

message 455: by [deleted user] (new)

Natalie- She's a great actress and I can see her as Katniss. That is, her attitude. Not her appearance. So out of the four, I hope she get's the part because she can have that "mood" that Katniss has. And I think the age is okay... But I hope she dyes her hair. :)

message 456: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Hair-dying would be helpful for most of the choices for Katniss.

message 457: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeahhhh. But, then again, it would be helpful for Annabeth

message 458: by [deleted user] (new)

^Natalie

message 459: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Extremely. You do NOT give Annabeth brown hair and blue eyes when it is REPEATEDLY made a big deal of that she is blond with gray eyes. It's about 20 million times worse than Daniel Radcliffe's eyes, and at least they had an excuse.

message 460: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, seriously. AND with Dan we never really had a closeup of his eyes. (and then there's Hermione's buckteeth, but there's also a reason for that).
But it is CLEARLY said that Annabeth has grey eyes and curly blonde hair. "She looked like a princess."-percy's thoughts

message 461: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments What do you mean we never had a closeup of his eyes? In the fifth movie, they focus on his BLUE eyes for about a minute straight when he wakes up.

Oh, no. Please don't mention that. They also made a character African-American for no explained reason.

message 463: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That doesn't really bother me anywhere near as much, since they don't emphasize what Grover looks like. I'm not sure they even give a skin color in him for the books. I got over that one fast.

Rarietty | 319 comments Kate wrote: "That doesn't really bother me anywhere near as much, since they don't emphasize what Grover looks like. I'm not sure they even give a skin color in him for the books. I got over that one fast."

In the official graphic novel based off the book
(never actually read the graphic novel just saw it at my local bookstore and flipped through it,) Grover was white. The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Lightning Thief The Graphic Novel by Rick Riordan
It just bothers me-not as much as Annabeth.

BTW-sorry for being off topic!

message 465: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yes, he is, and I know that, but in the book, which is the important part, it either doesn't say or doesn't matter. I said I got over it fast, I didn't mean it doesn't bother me, just that I feel like in the grand scheme of things, with everything they messed up, it doesn't really matter.

message 466: by Jia (new)

Jia | 170 comments I just don't want a movie anymore. Sick of all these wannabe-famous girls who are making a one-woman campaign for Katniss. I'm sick of all these horrible actresses auditioning, really, Abigail Breslin? Jennifer Lawrence? Murder me already.

message 467: by Frank (new)

Frank I agree with Jia. I would rather talk about the Hunger Games as a great book and not a horrible movie.

message 468: by Rarietty (new)

Rarietty | 319 comments Me three. I don't want a horrible movie. But I still want an amazing, true to the book movie that doesn't cast people because of their fame or is trying to make as much money as possible. I'll have to see the trailer first.

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Kate wrote: "What do you mean we never had a closeup of his eyes? In the fifth movie, they focus on his BLUE eyes for about a minute straight when he wakes up."

Oh, okay. I didn't remember that. :)

Chandloski- probably not. They had to put filming on hold what with the stuff in New Zealand and that being where they film them....

message 470: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments @ Rae, the only reason I remember it is because it bothers me so much.

message 471: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Annabeth really bothered me! Gosh, it was awful.
Anyway, I'd be perfectly happy with Hailee.

message 472: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Not so much the others.

message 473: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, taking back what I said before, I think Hailee is probably the only one of them who can pull it off, and she doesn't have the same fame issue as a lot of them. Yes, everyone's heard of her, but she hasn't been in everything yet.

Yes, I know I sound very contradictory.

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Kate wrote: "@ Rae, the only reason I remember it is because it bothers me so much."

I don't care all that much since they did such a great job with them all. (Great start by Chris Columbus- how could you fail us with Percy Jackson?!?!)

Hahha, bt thats totally fine Kate (550)

message 475: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I'm glad you think so. ;D

Chris Columbus confuses me. Harry Potter...pretty darn good. Percy Jackson...fail.

message 476: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahah, you're welcome. (Shall we continue our quest to find something we disagree on?)

seriously. how could he have done that? Let's just wait 10 years and then redo it correctly.

message 477: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That's a great idea. Do you want to direct it or should I?

Let's see...what to disagree on.....hmmm...favorite food?

message 478: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) I'm in film school. I could direct it. You guys would still be on board of course :)

message 479: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments According to my friend via Facebook, via one of her friends, they've cast everyone except Katniss, and she thinks Alex Pettyfer is Peeta.
...
...
O.o

Yeah, no. Give me a source and I'll believe it.

message 480: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Ive been following the HG newsfeed like crazy, here are the important things in a nutshell:
-Alex Pettyfer has the script but is yet to read it.
-Hailee Stenifeld has met with Garry Ross, is one of two favorites for Katniss
-Jennifer Lawrence has met with Garry Ross, and is the front-runner to get the role
-Hugh Laurie is 'un-available'

I can KIND OF see Jennifer as Katniss, with the proper costume/makeup/hair colour. Its a stretch of the imagination, but it might just work. Alex? No. He is much more of a Peeta.

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 2426 comments ★ Jessica ★ wrote: "-Jennifer Lawrence has met with Garry Ross, and is the front-runner to get the role "

Maybe. Then again, according to Entertainment Weekly , Lionsgate says there is no frontrunner.

"It’s true that the opportunity to play the protagonist in the movie adaptation of the massively popular Hunger Games has a whole lot of Hollywood up-and-comers vying for the spot, but a source at Lionsgate has confirmed to EW that, despite all the chatter, there are no frontrunners at this point."

Aagh, so much conflicting information! They just need to cast it already.

message 482: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Seriously. And then we can go from hating who's proposed as being inline for being cast to making our judgments on whether or not they cast the right people.

message 483: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) HUGH LAURIE NOT AVAILABLE!?!
*head desk*

message 484: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Guitar Chick-Dolly Dagger wrote: "I'm in film school. I could direct it. You guys would still be on board of course :)"

Sounds great.

message 485: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) :)
It'd be quite good, quite good. But then I might have to cut Peeta out completely :(

message 486: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Why? haha

message 487: by Rarietty (new)

Rarietty | 319 comments NO! Please don't cut him out! XD

message 488: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Peeta annoys the crap out of me, although I supppose I would have to include him minimally.

message 489: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, I think it's necessary to at least identify the other District 12 tribute.

message 490: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) I'll get to work on a script, heh he h heh.

message 491: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahaha, we'll be waiting. ;)

message 492: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Very impatiently.

message 493: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments extremely

message 494: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Heh, it'll be cut and paste from the book except for the cutting out of most of the Peeta crap.

message 500: by Kate (last edited Mar 13, 2011 01:26PM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments The mockingjay.net article said "Steinfeld and Breslin are both 14 and Lawrence is 20. Though there are plenty of up-and-coming teenage actors, Lionsgate can more easily find a recognizable face in his 20s for the male lead."

Either mockingjay.net is wrong, the sentence is misleading, or they're doing the exact opposite of going for an unknown. They're going to decide Katniss based on the fact that there are more known actors in their 20s to choose from! That's like a triple whammy!
