2. Food: Those white, coconutty rafaello chocolate things.
3. Drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic): a really good coffee with freshly ground beans.
4. Band/singer: Guns and Roses, yes I like the old rockers!
5. Actor: Rudy Youngblood
6. Spot in Australia:The Pilbara - Tom Price
7. Team/Sport: Triathalons - no I don't do it but I love watching others do them.
8. Car: Subarus ar nice to drive.
9. Animal: Cats - especially the Jaguar
10. Activity: sweatlodges, native ceremonies, writing
11. Things to collect: Traditional handmade textile prints. I make fisherman's pants with them. I have a great pattern if anyone wants it!

Nice list Helen!

message 818: by Sabina (new)

Sabina (ms_delirium) My Favourite...
1. Time of Day: Early morning or late at night (when its quite and everyone's asleep
2. Food: Sushi
3. Drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic): Water
4. Band/singer: Placebo
5. Actor: Jennifer Garner
6. Spot in Australia: Glen Innes, NSW
7. Team/Sport: Basketball
8. Car: Porsche 911
9. Animal: Dog and Wolf
10. Activity: Reading
11. Things to collect: I don't really collect anything, unless you count my books (seriously, I have run out of book shelve space. It's getting out of control. My CD collection isn't much better!).

message 819: by Amber (new)

Amber (ukaunz) My Favourite... I'm really not good at answering these. I can never give a straight answer! :-D
1. Time of Day: Night, after everyone else has gone to bed and I can have some quiet time to myself. I often stay up way too late reading! But then again, a beautiful sunrise can't be beaten.
2. Food: authentic-tasting Butter Chicken with all the side dishes that go with Indian food. And chocolate.
3. Drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic): tropical smoothies in summer, or good hot chocolate in winter.
4. Band/singer: Lots, no clear favourite. I like oldies and new music... my last obsession was Gotye
5. Actor: I admire Cate Blanchett's work, but I haven't seen all her movies yet.
6. Spot in Australia: Oooh, hard... so many beautiful places. Untouched beaches are definitely up there.
7. Team/Sport: I don't watch or play sport. I'll be cheering for my kids if they ever take up sport :-)
8. Car: A nice new car without kids' junk and crumbs strewn all over it (and without the dings and scratches that I always manage to add!)
9. Animal: No clear winner here. I love wild animals, but in their own habitats, not so much in zoos.
10. Activity: Reading (of course). Having fun with the kids. Pre-kids, it was travelling to new places... now I'm a homebody!
11. Things to collect: Stuff... I like to make things out of old things and upcycle, so I collect a lot of junk from opshops that then clutters up my house because I never get around to making it into something else. Also I collect my kids' artworks, papers, photos etc... (Yes, I'm a hoarder and my house is a mess!)

Great list Amber!! #1 is SOOO me!! lol

message 821: by Tony (new)

Tony Slater (tonyjamesslater) | 46 comments 1. Time of Day: Sunset. Awww! Ain't I romantic!
2. Food: PIZZA!!! (Which is SO much cheaper in Oz than the UK. Shockingly so! I intend to take full advantage of this).
3. Drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic): Cider! Delicious Somerset Scrumpy... ahhh, it's even better for cleaning paintbrushes with! Sadly I couldn't import any (something about the containers not surviving the transportation process) so I have to make do with what you've got over here. Which isn't much... ooh, but you do have wine in a cardboard box. That's fairly appropriate for my level of sophistication - and at $10 for 4 litres, it fits my budget too :0)
4. Band/singer: Tough one. I have pretty eclectic tastes. When I want to rock out, you can't beat a bit of Bon Jovi or Meatloaf! For everything else... there's Enya. Well, I told you it was eclectic...
5. Actor: Hugh Jackman. I dunno what an 'Ackman' is, but by jingo he's got a huge one. I also think he's a fantastic actor, and this is't just an attempt to gain favour with you proper Aussie types! Honest. But I have to ask - did it work? I'm also a big fan of Mel Gibson, Liam Neeson and Denzel Washington. I love guys that kick ass!
6. Spot in Australia: Balingup. In the south of WA... it looks just like paradise should. Green, sunny, delightful. I will live there one day - I swore it whilst hiking through the area on the Bibulmunn Track. Mind you, my water bottle was full of wine at the time...
7. Team/Sport: Snowboarding. I LOVE IT! So perhaps I emigrated to the wrong country? Nah! Just do it on sand instead :0)
8. Car: I, um... I can't drive. Ahem. Not on the best track to becoming a stand-up Aussie guy here, am I? Actually I did pass my test in December 2011 - at the age of 33 - and I've never owned a car in my life. If I had to choose, I'd buy a Jeep Renegade.
9. Animal: Jaguar! I got to spend a fair bit of time with one on my travels through Ecuador, and still have the scars to prove it! Magnificent they are, though. And man do they smell!
10. Activity: Well... this is a none-age restricted group, so I'll say... reading. And writing. But mostly reading. And sleeping also ranks quite high... yes, I'm a lazy sod! But I also love going to the gym and doing kung-fu, climbing and parkour - so I'm not THAT lazy!
11. Things to collect: Star Wars toys! I have a full set of the original figures, which is pretty valuable. Mostly though, I collect books - I have HUNDREDS! Sadly, they wouldn't fit in my suitcase, so still fill a bedroom in my parent's place in England. It's almost be cheaper to buy them again rather than import them from the UK... WHAT? Who am kidding? Books here cost a freakin' FORTUNE!! So one day I will bring a container full of them over here. But I kind of need a house to put them in first...

Right, that's me finished!
Tony

Amber (ukaunz) Another laugh for the morning, thanks Tony :-) Great list. As for #11, have you heard of Book Depository? That's where I shop for books...

Fabulous list Tony!!! You are full of fun to make us all laugh...love it;)

message 824: by Tony (new)

Tony Slater (tonyjamesslater) | 46 comments Cheers Amber and Brenda! Good to meet you ladies!
I've heard of Book Depository, but thought it was a chain of stores in the US? If they're over here, I should investigate! I shop mercilessly for books in op shops - last week I found 'Eats, Shoots and Leaves' in a Salvos and was most excited, as I'd bought it from Amazon in the UK, had it delivered - then left before I could read it :0(
I have sort of dominated the few shelves in the room my wife and I live in... mind you, she has covered the desks - with old bottles and tin cans she found whilst metal detecting in the bush! So I guess we're kind of even.

message 825: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80151 comments Mod
Tony, Book Dep is based in the US and the UK, but they have free delivery world wide, and they are incredibly cheap! Here's their link http://www.bookdepository.com/ I get the majority of my books (when I order them from BD) from the UK.

message 826: by Tony (new)

Tony Slater (tonyjamesslater) | 46 comments F... F... F F F FREE? Free delivery?
What the? WTF? No WAY...?!
Surely, that cannot be! It cost me $20 just to send a packet of TimTams back to my parents!
Free delivery eh? Hm. I don't trust it.
It's the devil's work!
(All the same, I think I'll have a quick look... :0)

message 828: by Tony (new)

Tony Slater (tonyjamesslater) | 46 comments Oh you bad, BAD people! Well actually it's just you, Brenda. Bad, BAD Brenda!
I'd have just spent my week's salary on that site, except I don't have a job yet. So instead I spent a week's salary's worth of my savings... Free postage eh? And US/UK level pricing... bad, BAD website to discover! I should perhaps have mentioned that I have n self control...
Mmmm!
Books!
:0)

message 829: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

message 830: by Tony (new)

Tony Slater (tonyjamesslater) | 46 comments I have a large 'basket' (no jokes, please!), which I am yet to press go on. Hm. The wife is due home at any moment. Do I tell her, and ask her permission? Or do it quick, before there's time for her to intervene...
Marriage is always about these decisions, I find!

Tony Slater (tonyjamesslater) | 46 comments Information of The Book Depository should be party of the high school exam. HOW can I have got this far through my life (33!) without knowing about it...?
Well, I guess living in a country where Amazon delivers to without blowing a fuse (UK) did help. But in the land of crazy-exensive books? No wonder all you locals are knowledgable.
Otherwise, how would you fund your book-buying habits? I know I can't afford mine...
