Thanks for sharing this. Finally watched this video with my daughter. Powerful stuff. Reminds you that many people are dealing with issues that they keep well hidden from others. That doesnt mean it isnt having an enormous effect on their lives. I have shared this with my facebook and email friends.

AusLit | 16 comments AUTHORS BEWARE

An article outlining some major problems with D Publishing/Dymocks' Publishing Agreement: http://auslit.net/2011/12/09/d-publis...

If you're considering publishing/distributing your work with D Publishing, or know someone who is, I strongly recommend you read this article first.

They already pulled their Publishing Agreement after I posted about it on Facebook, but their second attempt at the Publishing Agreement is no better than the first version and poses serious risks for authors.

AusLit | 16 comments No problem. People should know what they could be getting into.

Their Publishing Agreement is far from what many would consider a standard agreement and something many would probably consider predatory towards authors.

AusLit | 16 comments I had a positive phone conversation with senior management at Dymocks/D Publishing yesterday about redrafting their publishing agreement to better express their intentions and address authors' concerns.

I am meeting with senior management at Dymocks' Head Office tommorrow.

For anyone who doesn't know about the issue with Dymocks/D Publishing's publishing agreement, I wrote about problems with their publishing agreement on Facebook on THursday night and put an article online(http://auslit.net/2011/12/09/d-publis...). They withdrew the agreement and replaced it with a second, just as problematic, agreement on Friday. Following the second agreement, I updated the article and commented on Facebook and Twitter. On Monday, they called me, discussed the issue and indicated they intend to rewrite the agreement incorporating my advice.

I hope this will result in a publishing agreement that will be appealing to authors. D Publishing has the potential to be really good if it's done right.

David, don't you have a list of 'what's hot' down the LHS to choose from? Not sure what yours is looking like, mine has the choices down the LHS with the smileys on the right.

Nope, it looks like a stage with tools for making your own smileys, no 'whats hot' & no choices down the either side, I left click on a smiley (like yours here) & it keeps going straight to this make your own thing.)-:

Emily E (emily_e1) | 347 comments my post options are add book or 'some html is ok'... where do you get 'what's hot' smiley/photo options?

message 4534: by Neko (last edited Dec 15, 2011 02:30PM) (new)

Neko Emily, you don't have smiley stuff on this site. People are using an external site then placing the HTML here to get the smiley :)

Just like linking an external picture pretty much.

Hope that helps.

Ditto to what Laura said Emily, but I think if you google 'smiley central' that'll bring the site up, then you can put the icon at the top of the screen, so it's there all the time. I've had mine for so long, but I think that's what I did! Maybe they are there automatically with Firefox...can't remember!

----

@ David, maybe go to the original site, and see if you can download it again? Not sure what the problem is with yours!

Yeeps...plenty of sites out there but Photobucket or even Flickr are good.

However, when using them grab the HTML/URL and then paste it like this:

<00img src="URLGOESHERE"/0>

Just take out the 0 to make it work correctly.

It's important to close the tag otherwise things won't work correctly...TAG just means the
