I'm so glad you liked it! I was just so lucky to be on the spot with my trusty camera!
Sorry about your carport!
We were lucky where I live. It just rained heavy for a couple of days. It's horrible watching what happens elsewhere and feeling very helpless and guilty for being so safe.
You're right there Sharon! We have just been notified (by the SMS alert system) that there will be storms Friday night into Saturday with a bigger than 75% chance of the Williams River flooding and minor plus flash flooding throughout the Hunter:(
I don't know the Hunter and Newcastle areas well. To be honest I would need to look up where the Williams River is LOL, but that doesn't sound good :(

Williams River runs through Raymond Terrace Sharon. It starts in Newcastle (from the ocean) and it's called Hunter River..then when it gets to RT, it's then Williams River and flows on up towards Seaham, Clarence Town etc...all farming communities. Hunter River continues on up through Maitland, which is under flood warning now:) Little bit of history there;) lol

I live in the Upper Hunter, (Muswellbrook), and so far everything is good at this end of the Hunter. There is a warning from tomorrow onwards, so I think it will depend on how much rain might fall where. The catchment for the Hunter River should be pretty full after last weekend's rain (135mm here), so any significant falls will recharge the river systems and we may be in a bit more trouble than we have been. I noticed that the watch includes Scone, which is upstream from us.Maitland (Lower Hunter) is currently on a flood watch for minor flooding due to last weekend's rainfall. The river is still to peak there.
And of course today is sunny and warm...

It sure is Leonie! 35 here:( Very humid again too!! But I'm glad you are ok up there in sunny Muswellbrook:)

It's about 34 here, and the humidity is not pleasant. Apparently (according to the weather stuff on the internet) the humidity is only 34% in Scone. I reckon it must be increasing at least a percent for every one of the 25km between here and there! At this point, the farmers are happy. Let's hope it stays that way!

Well I'm completely lost, being somewhat geographically challenged, so I'll just hope that everyone is ok. :)We had a little rain here this morning and it's left a sticky humidity behind - yuck
Course I've also just started training the two new kittens to go outside and any rain does not help.
I hear that Centrelink are already offering disaster relief payments for those affected so I hope anyone who qualifies for that will take advantage of it and that it helps, even a little. After all, we all know what insurance companies are like so any help will be a blessing.
Back to rain here. nothing drastic. Just soaking rain. Yesterday we were swimming in brilliant sunshine. Crazy!Thoughts with all the flood affected.

I'm listening to the chatter on the weather channel in the background...a risk of 'supercells' :( Boy, we need that!!! Glad you've had welcome rain Michael...

Thanks Brenda
We had a severe storm last night with strong wind and driving rain. It caused me to race to the garage with arm loads of towels to stuff at the bottom of the roller door, after dragging cupboards etc out of the way! It was flowing in quite nicely O_o!!! So there they stay, with it STILL raining!!!
Same here, I really hope it stops soon, we're going camping next weekend and I can't stand the thought of 4 days in a leaky tent with 2 kids!

Oh NO WAY Li!!! That's a recipe for disaster!!! I'll keep everything crossed for you...where are you camping?

Seal Rocks (which I think is near Forster?), we went the same time last year and got soaked the first night, but we have a new tent and are just hoping for the best!

Have fun camping Li and enjoy your trip to South Africa Ashleigh. I've often thought about visiting Sth Africa but the only part of the continent my hubby will even consider is Egypt - which doesn't really bother me as I've wanted to see Egypt since I was a little girl :)Back to brilliant sunshine here after two solid days of rain. On the up side though the kittens are now going outside more than using their litter box so that's good news.
Rant alert!! In other not so good news my new boarder Phil is driving me crazy. Robbie and I were told he was an ex-heroin addict who had fallen on hard times due to his habit and was now trying to clean up his life. Well that turns out to be only partially true - yes he's fallen on hard times but that's because he's still using!
Once I twigged to what he was doing in his bedroom I had to lay down the law, well I got Robbie to do it. We've made it very clear that we will not tolerate that in our house and if he's going to continue to use he will have to find somewhere else to live. I feel a bit mean but at the same time I don't want our house turning into a flop house for druggies and I don't like feeling as though all my valuables need to be locked up just in case. The Lord only knows how we get ourselves into these situations. I think our problem is we always see the best in people and tend to be far too trusting. Rant over :)
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hi Everyone,Hope you're all enjoying your weekend and have all had a reprieve from some of the severe weather we seem to be having around the country and all that comes with it.
I must say it's cool here in Melbourne and we have had some rain which is a welcome change. More would be great though.
We're off to celebrate the in-laws 50th Wedding Anniversary today, which is lovely but between all my socialising and work, I don't how I'm going to find time to read and complete my summer challenge!!! Ahhhh!!!
Hi, hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday.Back after months of hiatus from GR. at one point work and family (and running) took over and I had resigned from the multiple forums and discussion groups and FB groups I was part of... Back on GR now to mostly lurk around and get more titles to add to my TBR (I blame you, both Michaels!).
As for the weather... I am not ready for summer to be over just yet... It's too cool over here in Canberra :( I went out for run yesterday morning at 6am in my winter gear and this morning decided to hold off running until it warms up a little as my tights are in the wash. I have time to catch up my Summer challenge but for some reason the only books that appeal to me are those NOT on the list. SIGH.
Brenda wrote: "Tracey wrote: "Have fun camping Li and enjoy your trip to South Africa Ashleigh. I told him he has to be gone by lunch time. Now he's giving me some song and dance about not having any money and having no where to go etc etc but I held firm and just told him it's not my problem. Robbie's packing his stuff to take him to a train station as we speak. I feel like such an idiot and so totally betrayed.
On a brighter note Li the kittens are both Manx kittens. Many Manx cats are born with no tails or only a stump of a tail - Gypsy, the girl, just has a little stump but Dax, the boy, has a full tail. Watching them play is proving very distracting :)

Enjoy the day Elaine:) It's such a shame, but life always seems to get in the way of our reading, doesn't it!!! ;) Don't worry, just have fun!

Oh Tracey! I'm so glad you've been strong and made him go! He would only make your lives a misery, and only he can get himself on the right track. I feel a little sorry for hime (as you do) but he's only doing it to himself and the people around him will suffer from his lack of strength and determination. Good on you...once he's gone, you will feel a weight lift from your shoulders.

I totally agree with Brenda, Tracey - I think you absolutely did the right thing - good on you for making a stand. Your home needs to be a place where you can rest and recharge - not be on tenterhooks and uptight all the time because of a lodger you can't trust. That is something I have always thought about when considering housemates - I want to live with people I can trust, so that if I take my rings off and leave them on the bench or leave my phone or purse lying around, I'm not going to be frantic wondering if they're safe!!
Tracey, you did the right thing. It is hard but they will only tell you what they want you to hear. I hate drugs and I hate what happens when people you love get involved even more. Unfortunately a member of my family got into them, as lovely as he is, the whole family had to do tough love. I am pleased to say he has been turned around. But not without hearts broken and lots of hard work from all the family. We still have a hard road ahead and lots of fence mending to do because even though he now knows what he did to our family, things can not be mended overnight.
Thanks ladies for your so right and so appreciated words. Phil tried every trick in the book, right down to crying, but Robbie and I held firm. Robbie dropped him at the train station and suggested he go home to Hervey Bay, really get clean, and see if his sister will take him in. I did feel, as I said, a little mean but as Kathryn said it's not much fun thinking you have to lock up your medications, wallet etc or wondering what he might pawn while you're out of the house. I really hope he does straighten out his life but I'm not so sure he will, he seemed very enslaved to the drug to me.Anyway after all the drama Robbie's taking me out for dinner tonight to relax.
Tracey wrote: "Thanks ladies for your so right and so appreciated words. Phil tried every trick in the book, right down to crying, but Robbie and I held firm. You don't need that kind of incremental stress in your life; focus on being happy and taking care of yourself!
Enjoy and good for you Tracey for sticking to your guns. You cannot help people unless they are willing to help themselves and it sounds at this stage that he's not.
Just dropped my baby off for his first day of big school, he's been so excited and all was good until we settled him at his desk and he got really quiet, then I noticed his eyes were red and he was holding back tears! I wasn't expecting it and feel totally shaken up! It's gonna be a long day!
Li wrote: "Just dropped my baby off for his first day of big school, he's been so excited and all was good until we settled him at his desk and he got really quiet, then I noticed his eyes were red and he was..."Yes, that first day is heartbreaking. I remember going back to work and crying all day, but after a few months I thought yippee school today LOL
