I bleed Poe, don't cut me though, I like to keep his essence trapped in my blood stream.

I'm an aspiring writer of literary horror currently working on my second novel. Look forward to the discussions.

2. Its easier for me to say what I don't like than to put together a list of all the authors that I read. I don't like vampires that sparkle! There, I said it! Also, not a real big fan of Anne Rice, though I've read several of her novels. I can't get my head around all of the homo-eroticism in her books. There, said it again. I like my horror figures dark and scary, not cuddly lovers.
3. I grew up watching classic horror flicks on late-night KDOG channel 26 in Houston, TX. I guess the genre has become "comfort food" for my mind.
4. Feel free to friend me. I've been doing Goodreads for a couple of years and never done the group thing and never added friends.

I'll always love The Rats in the Walls. Not exactly the cosmic horror for which Lovecraft is known, but brilliant.

Ryan, The Call of Cthulhu and The Colour out of Space are favorites of mine, too.

Aaron, The Rats in the Wall is another favorite of mine. It is indeed brilliant!

Rats in the Wall is mega-creepy. That and Pickman's Model, Beyond the Wall of Sleep, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, and The Dunwhich Horror are stories I prefer by HPL.

My HPL favorites vary depending on which ones I've reread lately. The stories I was blown away by most when I first read them were The Shadow Out of Time, Dreams in the Witch House, Rats in the Walls, and From Beyond.

2. Sheridan Le Fanu, Lovecraft, Poe - lots of others.
3. "Carmilla" imho is one of the best vampiric stories ever written. An absolute must-read along with "Green Tea" also by Le Fanu. The mention of the word "Twilight" makes me cringe - I was convinced by a book shop owner, and the nice cover, to buy it new. It was absolute bollocks. Read about 10 pages and threw it in a corner. Among the new vampiric books "Let the Right One In" is excellent. Scan author - Lindqvuist or something like that. You know the one.
