Reading is really important to me I try to read everyday and I'm way off my normal reading pace with this pandemic messing up my schedule I actually find I have less reading time than before this week I'm picking up a little steam Reading Nalini Singh "Slave to Sensation" and also listening to a audio book "American Wolf" by Nate Blakesless both are enjoyable stories I think I might like the books this groups picks to read look forward to the comments about Octavia Butler's books I love her work. I also especially enjoy finding new and little known writers and books.
Welcome Herman. I think a lot of people (myself included) have had their reading impacted this year. For me personally I find it hard to keep my concentration much longer than an hour or so, and I read really slow.
Hopefully having a group to read along/discuss with helps you out.

I want to introduce myself. My name is Aaron Arndt. I am a huge fantasy nerd. I DM/play D&D, listen to podcasts about D&D, read and write fantasy. I am looking forward to being a part of this community!
Welcome Aaron. What version(s) of D&D do you play?
I started on 2e, then moved to 3.5 and now I play 5e.

I'm Kayla Frost, and I am a huge fan of everything sci-fi and fantasy. I'm an engineer by trade, but I try to sneak in as much sci-fi reading and writing as I can manage. Nice to meet all of you!

I'm Cody. While I am not new to Goodreads, I am new to the Groups so its a little bit of a learning curve. I am a new listener from the Reading Glasses community and am excited to dip my teeth into some more fantasy reads. I have been a sci-fi reader for quite awhile, but fantasy seems to be hit or miss for me so I am hoping I can figure out my fantasy likes/dislikes with this group. I'm excited to join in the discussion!

I'm a fairly eclectic reader but favour a good fantasy novel above else ... I'm just catching up with more contemporary works through my partner and her like of 'urban fantasy' in the form of audiobooks. At the moment, we are listening to The Invisible Library.
I, however, have a deep fondness for Mervyn Peake, Robert Holdstock, Terry Pratchett and Ray Bradbury's fantasy works as opposed to his science-fiction. I also have a few favourite sci-fi authors, Philip K. Dick, Douglas Adams, and Harry Harrison.

Welcome Cody! I know many of us have also gone in the other direction - I started listening to Reading Glasses after the first time one of them came on to S&L.

Welcome Donald. I really enjoyed Wheel of Time in audio. I actually got to meet the narrators at a signing for A Memory of Light

I've always been an avid fantasy fan, and while I do enjoy a good sci fi book, I'm definitely more of a sword than laser person. I'm currently a college student studying physics, and I've recently been in a reading rut, so I'd love to find new books and new people to discuss them with! Is the message board and the discord the only places for discussion, or is there a zoom call?

Welcome Rachael. We do have some "local meetups" that are all virtual at the moment, some of which happen over Zoom I think.
You can find info about those in the events section.
For the most part though we tend to either post here or on the discord. Some of use us both.

I have been an avid reader since elementary school (my first favorite book was E.B. White's "Trumpet of the Swan"). I am traditionally more of a Laser, but reading to my kids has me re-reading and loving some traditional Sword books. I consider Dr. Seuss a fantasy.

I wanted to make a March Madness nomination (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), and the text box told me I should post here, first. I don't want to be the ugly American jumping to the front of the line without following the rules, and this seemed like a reasonable-enough request.

My name is Luke and I'm a bibliophile... or possibly bibliomaniac. Sometimes it is hard to tell.
I just heard about the podcast today (from finding this goodreads community), I listened to the interview with L. E. Modesitt Jr. (who's new book is now on my to read list, which is already far too long) and a few other episodes and it has been great.
Sci-fi and fantasy are my jam, along with classic crime novels (Doyle, Christie, Chandler, etc.) and older, usually UK, thrillers (Creasey, Fleming, Le Carre, Charteris, etc.).
On the fantasy side, I usually go for old-fashioned epic fantasy. As far as favourite fantasy books go, the Lord of the Rings is probably my go to but the Discworld series definitely makes it hard to stay faithful.
On the sci-fi side, I'd probably go Neuromancer for my top pick right now, but that might change this year since I plan on finally getting to a few more classics in the genre.
I have wildly over-committed myself on the reading challenges (100 fantasy and 20 sci-fi). I have the time and the books but I am very much an on-again-off-again sort of reader. I'll read a 5 book series in a week after having read a grand total of one book in the previous six months. I'm hoping the goals will keep me going. Fingers crossed...

A person’s reach should always exceed their grasp. Welcome; now get after it.

They’re super great. Greetings!

Tell me what that is. Bibliophile?

It’s like a regular biblio but all in a line."
Someone you don't leave alone in a room of first editions....

Welcome Scott. As to book titles, there have been a few threads where people have asked that.
You can just make a thread in the What else are you reading section.
