Mashi and Other Stories by Rabindranath Tagore
A classic work by an acclaimed Indian author, but it needed better translation.

We Carry the Sea in Our Hands by Janie Kim
The start of the book was shaky but the second half redeemed it, and how!

If you liked this author's seminal feminist work 'Kim Jiyoung Born 1982', you shouldn't miss her latest work, a short story collection.

I D | 2 comments I’ve read a lot of books, but "The Examination Hall" by F.D. Miller? It hits different. 😭 The poetic storytelling, powerful social message, and emotional highs and lows will have you reaching for tissues at every turn. And it’s FREE on Kindle! Even without Unlimited, you can dive into this incredible story. Highly recommend!

Who Wants to Live Forever by Hanna Thomas Uose
One of the most thought-provoking debuts I have read. Had the ending worked better for me, I'd have gone even higher in my rating.

Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor
Loved the idea, liked the execution. Better for lit fic and family drama readers than for sci-fi readers.

It's a multilayered book.

Banned Together Our Fight for Readers' Rights by Ashley Hope Pérez
As you might guess from the title and tagline, this is one outstanding collection of essays and other pieces by minority writers. This is not literary fiction, but it is essential fiction for all BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ voices.

Aliya | 1 comments I recently read The Death of Vivek Oji The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi. It is such a beautifully written story. I found myself glued to this book from the very start. You cannot help yourself from forming a very soft spot for the character of Vivek in your heart. I don't think I've liked a character this much in a very long time. I found the writing to be compelling and it kept me wanting more. Although fair warning- it will leave you grieving for days after you finish the story.
