Yeah, I was also disappointed. I turned it off and went to bed with a book. So much better. ;o)

I did however enjoy Adam Hills in Gordon Street, which was before Laid. For a first show, I thought it was thoroughly entertaining and I'm sure it will improve as they find their way.

Patricia (rizeandshine) I've not really seen any Aussie TV to speak of. I have a list of Australian films on my Netflix to watch, but many of them are not available. Two of my favorites are Proof and Animal Kingdom.

Neko Sweet!
I think I might prefer ABBA running through my head instead of Bob the Builder..hahaha Will go looking for it very soon, or maybe it'll be cheaper buying it (today with DVDs be so cheap).

Jan (auntyjan) I like My Kitchen Rules and Biggest Loser.

message 115: by Neko (new)

Neko Speaking of MK...gosh...it was on the front of our newspaper cause one of the couples is from Tassie...And the woman is getting death threats and hate stuff through Facebook..Ppl even want to get her home address to send nasty letters dirrectly to their home. God, some people -.-

I plan to watch this movie on Monday night WIN(NINE) at 8:30pm which is something to do with the whole Underbelly franchise.

Maggie Jan wrote: "I like My Kitchen Rules and Biggest Loser."

My daughter has me watching MKR - have never bothered with it before. Yes Laura, I know what they mean about the Tassie woman. I wonder if she really is so judgmental / negative, or whether the show is being carefully edited to show only that side of her? However I must admit I am taken back at the way she speaks.

What a shame that people cant keep their nasty thoughts and actions to themselves - and I mean those making threats NOT the woman herself 'cos she may be being set up by the show. And even if she is accurately portrayed it is really beyond it all to make threats, or send nasty letters.

Rachael (rachaelelaineh) | 18 comments Bran Nue Dae was awesome! Charlie & Boots and Looking for Alibrandi are my favourites also.

Yeah, you can never quite tell how a TV show is really showing a person, eg. careful editing like you mention. Plus they'll do anything to get a good number of viewers in. I dunno if it's gotten huge numbers but it's certainly created a stir so they've accomplished something from it (even in the bad light).

Yeaaa, i remember to watch the underbelly movie :D!

message 131: by [deleted user] (new)

my fav aussy series now and probably for a long while is Spirited it has matt king in it from rock'n'rolla and the aussy chick from the secret lives of us ( i cant remember her name) any basically she has a midlife meltdown moves out of home with her two kids into a penthouse and the spirit of dead rocker henry is living there and only she can see him. its funny , sad and happy all at the same time as the two of them try to figure out why only she can see him and why he is dead and how he died, along with her kids thinking she is crazy for talking to herself, her husband sleeping around while trying to impress her so she will take him back and many other weird and wonderful things.
its only on W on austar and foxtel and i have no idea about the dvd.

message 132: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Anybody else watch 'Adam Hills in Gordon Street Tonight'.
It is amazingly hilarious. ALong with 'Glee', it is the only TV show I watch on a regular basis.
It makes me wonder how I survived with out a decent 'talk show' for all those years. Or at least since 'Rove' finished.

I'm sure she was! That was the best show of the season so far!:)

message 144: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Lang (matthewlang) | 143 comments Oh yeah. That's one episode I can't run as background noise when writing because I'd stop to watch it every time.

*sigh* And now we has to wait for 3-4 weeks before the next episode... :(

message 145: by Neko (new)

Neko US shows have seemly taken a break from their normal schedual...But i think it's the norm around this time?

Few shows I've been wanting to watch but nothing is shown in the US yet x(

So, I stick to the trusty DVD >_>;;

★ Jess | 3071 comments I just hired the Australian film: "THE LOVED ONES" from the dvd store, after wanting to see it for a loooong time. Got some amazing reviews. Cant wait to watch it tonight...Anyone else seen it?

description

message 147: by Neko (new)

Neko Can't say I've ever seen it or heard about it.

Just finished season 2 of Monk and hopefully will finish season 2 of Packed to the Rafters tonight.

Anyone else catch the tele movie about Cleo last night? The 2nd/final part of it is on tonight.

message 148: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Laura, I missed the tele-movie of Cleo. 'Paper Giants', right?
Anyway, mum recorded it, so I will watch both parts later this week :)

Well, I watched "The Loved Ones" last night...It was pretty horrifying. Heres the trailer if anyone is interested, though it doesnt do the film much justice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb5BFm...
I think decent words to describe it would be "weird, terrifying, morbid, creepy and disturbing." David & Margaret 'At the Movies' gave it 3.5 stars, and I would say they're spot on.
Im still jumpy about it. Full of suspense, fascinating and well made (outstanding camera shots and art direction)

message 149: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Has anyone checked out Game of Thrones yet? I'm about to watch it; maybe I need to read the book too A Game of Thrones
