The tenth parallel, a line of latitude just north of the equator, has been the front line of Christian-Islamic interaction for hundreds of years. For those living along that line, encountering members of another faith is a common occurrence. In our recommendation this week, The Tenth Parallel, Eliza Griswold spent seven years along this fault line exploring how people came together. In today's fundamentalist-charged atmosphere, are these hotbeds of cultural interactions more likely to offer solutions to interfaith relations, or are they simply breeding grounds for more violence?
