The movie compared to the book

1) During her class performance at the beginning of the movie, Trixie was clumsy. Was there even a class performance in the movie? and was she clumsy?!?
I missed the first 10 min. of the movie....I dont remember a class performance in the book.
2)When she skipped school one day with her best friend, did they smoke in the book?!? and did it ever mention her purposely burning herself?!?
I think they substituted the burning for the cutting. I felt like they skimmed over all those times she cut herself, and also...my kids were interupting during the movie, so possible I missed it, but didnt she attempt suicide in the book...was that mentioned in the movie?
3)After the break up, when Trixie got in Jason's vehicle, I felt as though she was fake crying. Did anyone else feel that way?!?
? didnt notice
4)At the party, I thought she ran out of the room they were playing strip poker in to the bathroom... not to her best friends room. Am I right or wrong? and in the book, didnt she get raped in the living room?!?
She did get raped in the living room...in the book.
5)At first I thought the whole rape thing happened too fast. They should have showed how she got home to spread it out some. But whatever, the flashback at the ending of the movie made up for that. Agree or disagree?!?
I think alot of things happened too fast in the movie, compared to the book.
6)Rape examination was very believable- Trixie was a great actress from then on in the movie. :-)
I agree
7)When Trixie's mom came home or whatever to wash her daughter's sheets, in the laundry room, when she started to cry, I thought it was a little unreal.. more like a pretend cry. Anyone else feel that way?!?
8)I remember Daniel being violent at the one part towards his wife... but I thought he pinned her up agaisnt the wall in the book, not the bed. Am I right or wrong?!?
I dont remember where he was violent to her in the book...just that he was violent to her at one point.
8) In the book, did Trixie actually key Jason'd car because I dont remember reading that part?!?
I dont remember her keying his car in the book either.
9)The workout scene with Jason doesnt seem to fit- it seems out of place. Agree or disagree?!?
10)In the book, when Seth comes to their home, Trixie doesnt actually open the door does she?!? I thought her mom did, then she came downstairs and her mom sent her back upstairs... not outside...
11)In the book, does Jason get drunk on the night he is murdered?!?
Yes...and remember he played with his team against some younger kids and made a big scene? (In the book)
12) When Trixie fell trying to run after her dad at the grocery store, it all happened so fast. Her falling, Jason helping her up, him realizing it was her, arguing, him slapping her, then Daniel and Jason fighting, and Trixie running off. By the way, did Jason slap Trixie across the face in the book?
13)The ending was my main disappointment because Trixie didnt run away on her own... and she didnt meet that one guy her age in Alaska- that was one of my favorite parts :-\
I didnt answer all the questions...too many little things.
Someone on another discussion said it best when they said the movie seemed to skim over everything and didnt go very deep into the emotions of everyone involved. Trixie's depression, the mother's affair and how that effected them, Daniel's past, and especially her running away to Alaska! It seemed like they just lightly touched on different parts of the book, but that's it.
I was disappointed with the movie, but I also JUST finished reading the book, so there was sooo much more detail, as happens with most books-turn-movies.

While reading the book, I got the impression that she didnt take care of her appearance after the rape.

1)The first ten minutes of the movie was really good.. definetly an attention getter.
2)And no suicide nor cutting was mentioned in the book. Maybe they took the easy way out... burning herself over cutting. In the movie, they made Trixie seem normal with no depression problems, opposite of the way she was in the book.
3) I sure did.
4)Exactly... in the movie, it was her best friends room on the bed.
5)Well yea but thats expected but the rape scene was the most important and the shortest... they should have lengthened it.
6)Yup yup, from then on, I loved her as Trixie.
8)Yea it was the nite Trixie got home from the hospital.
9)In the book, she seemed too scared and timid to key his car... they s changed her character in the movie.
And yea, I have to agree the movie was disappointing... but not too bad. I only say that because they didnt prolong the "rape" part and because she didnt run away to Alaska alone and because they changed the characters personality and "person" in general.
