OMG the Mother, Mrs Bennett. She adds so much to the story, her Nerves are an ever present staple. I love Mr. Bennett, he has such great wit and he makes me laugh in every word he speaks.

I love the father and I absolutely adore Jane along with Mr. Bingley. Kitty just seems to get on my nerves though as does Lydia. Mary is so dense yet so loveable at the same time.

Charlotte Lucas was the only person I really did pity because she chose Mr. Collins because she couldn't afford to be romantic and plus she was 27 years old and a burden to her family but I just wouldn't accept Mr. Collins...ugh!! no wonder she kept him in the garden most of the time.

Didn't Lydia and Kitty get on your nerves? Jane was sweet, Wickham was a cad, and yes. I liked Col. Fitzwilliam as well. I always thought he was nice. I don't know about you, but I think Bingley should have stood up for Jane, even if Darcy and his sister objected. (Haven't read the book in a while, but am taking some of my opinions from the mini-series since it is very like the book)

I would have to say I loved Mr. Bennett and even if quite annoying I found interesting to understand characters like Georgiana or Caroline Bingley. Georgiana is so cute and underestimated on a certain perspective (could it be I am too much influenced by "Lost in Austen" TV Series? ahah) Anyways instead Caroline Bingley, so..annoying yet she is better than Lydia I believe, not better than Kitty but certainly Lydia is the most.. "OMG How did you grow up?" person in the novel.

I agree with both of you! Well with Caroline..I would love to punch her someday, but I can consider myself happy and my hate gone at the idea that she didn't manage to marry Mr. Darcy. I consider appropriate add an (*evil laugh*).

Kitty...well she got better at the end. I actually liked her at the end. Instead the one that was stuck her in inner thoughts, so obtuse is Mary. I don't like that character, not because of her personality necessarily, but because she doesn't consider other opinions, or isn't able to discuss. She just states her opinion and that's it. And that doesn't help to build her as an adult. Kitty got better, Mary never will.

Interesting opinions on Mary and Kitty. Agree that Kitty got better but as for Mary, it must be hard to be acknowledged so openly by your mum that you are her least fav and not half so pretty as your sisters etc and I think it is nice at the end when all the sisters are away (Kitty often staying with her sisters) that Mary is no longer compared to them and becomes her own person is out in society more :)

I think with Lydia and Wickham ending up together, that is perfect justice. I felt sorry for Mary, she obviously didn't have any talent.

I agree! Lydia acts all "I am so happy to be the first to marry ect" HELLO?!?! Don't you understand why you married, or who you married? Good revenge! I also understand that Mary becomes more of the person she can be (in better) without her sisters, but if she stopped maybe trying so hard to stand out, she would stand out even more. (Does that make any sense?) What I mean is that standing out because you try so much to be who you are not, makes you look stupid - as it happens - she could have tried accepting herself completely, instead. Of course, the fact that she tries to read, and play the piano helps a lot because it shapes the mind of a woman. Anyways she could have tried putting the same amount of effort, at the same time, with her clothes or appearance. I don't think she is that modest..that is what both in books, and tv series/movies, I hated about her. She wasn't that modest, and that also didn't help her in society. Lizzy didn't have any specific talent, but she was modest, elegant, and even though also pretty, when Mary wasn't, she wasn't necessarily remembered all the times for her beauty, but also for her wit and intelligence.

I agree Mary had more nerve and little sense to recommend her. I think she must have been stuborn also. Else her Jane and Lizzy could have helped her more with society.

Yeah. In the 05 film she comes across as very nervous, and such a contrast to her sisters!! Jane and Lizzy should have helped her a bit, or her mum not be so mean to her and favour the others...

What did you guys think of Charlotte Lucas? I feel slightly sorry for her. Not necessarily because she got stuck with Mr. Collins (which was her own choice) but because she felt that she had too. That she didn't have any chance at love. She was a little too practical. It's kinda sad.

She is almost like what for some people it is the reality and Lizzy is the dream... Which is sad and I try not to think about that.
I pity her as well, and with Collins i do but not because she married him as was her choice but because that is what she had to settle for (which is what you said...)
Shame that ruined Lizzy and her relationship a little.... I loved their relationship otherwise and sad how that action didn't please Lizzy and so she seems to think of Charlotte differently...

Charlotte I thought was the complete opposite of Lizzy. I wouldn't have wanted to be her, but at least she had some freedom and a home of her own. At some point Lizzy's home would become her home. Which put a little damper on their friendship I think.

And I would not like to be Charlotte at all! Lizzy please!! But I was glad she was so happy to be running her own home finally!!

I think that even if she didn't want to, she had to. And probably she didn't necessarily regret it. She was afraid of remaining still without a decent husband at 35...being her when she married Mr. Collins 27/28 years old. And she have been even without a husband at 35 probably.. So I believe that in the end Mr. Collins's character isn't that bad after all. He is a bit..obtuse, not romantic, stupid on a certain level, obsessed with Lady Catherine, and many other not - so - accepted "qualities". I am sad for Charlotte. What do you think of Mr and Mrs. Bennet's marriage?

I think Lizzy's characterization for Mr. Collins is very good, "He is ridiculous"!


Mr. and Mrs. Bennett is a much harder question I think. Will have to think on that one. I always wondered what Mrs. Bennett was like at a younger age. What Mr. Bennett saw in her.

And I think mr and mrs Bennet are basically Lydia and Wickham and will tire of each other soon like mr and mrs Bennet did.
But also with mr and mrs Bennet, I think deep deep down, after so many years, they do have a sort of love and regard for each other :)

I agree. Despite their huge personality differences, I think there is still an amount of regard that the Bennets have for each other. I don't really see much of a comparison between Lydia and Wickham's relationship with the Bennets', but I do think that Mrs. Bennet was just like Lydia when she was younger. Lydia and Wickham's relationship will end up a huge bust. I don't think the Bennet's was all that bad.

I have to agree with Anne, Lydia and Wickham's relationship is a bit different from the Bennett's. Wickham will soon grow tired of Lydia, and Lydia will start fussing around all the time. Though I have to say that they do look similar, because Mrs. Bennett is a bit annoying and Mr. Bennett clearly grew tired of her, they still have that way of teasing each other that shows their respect and love for each other. Maybe not the Darcy's love, but certainly a love that HAD to grow and made them bond. Mr. Bennett certainly has more patience (although it does not seem) and more respect for his wife, much more than what Wickham would ever have for Lydia. On this saying that there are similar is, I believe, like insulting Mr. Bennett's intelligence. Wickham is childish, and on this identical to Lydia.

Well maybe I should have said the beginning of the relationship was similar. And theirs was a bit better later on than Wickhams and Lydias will be. :)
