Dot woke up and looked out her window to the Cherry Blossom trees blooming the best ever. She lived in a not vary populated part of Japan which she liked. She thought that cities were to busy. You didn't have time to stop and feel everything without being ran into. And that's what Dot was all about. She was happy to feel things. She would rather be a blind, def, mute before she would want to not be able to feel things. That way she could still image what everything looked like. Feeling things even got her nick-name, "Everything is made out of microscopic dots", she once said.
"Really?" Her mom asked. "How do you know?"
"Cus' I can feel them." She would answer.

She got dressed and went down to the kitchen where she new her mom would be making breakfast for Dot and her little twin brother and sister.
"Good morning mom!" She said rounding the corner and rubbing her eyes.
She opened her eyes completely but blinked hard twice more. Her mom wasn't there. The stove hadn't been touched. She looked around the house and no one was to be found. Her dad was hard off at work but she knew her siblings and mom should be here. She returned to the kitchen and noticed there was a note on the table to her she opened it and the saw that the handwriting was scratching but sill legible she read.

Dear Dot,
How is your first day of summer? Sorry I couldn't be there right now but i had to take the twins out for a couple of errands.
Your grandfather wanted to see you first thing when you get this, so you shouldn't keep him waiting. I hope to see you soon, and i love you no matter what happens.
Goodbye for now, Mom.

Something wasn't right, Dot thought. He mom had great handwriting and what was up with the whole ending about hoping to see her soon? She looked a little closer to the bottom side of the note. A drop of water must have landed on it because it was a circle that was darker then the rest of the other paper, and it was also wrinkled.
Dot didn't know what was happening, but she had a hunch her grandpa knew something about it. She put the not in her pocket and left.

((Now someone please continue this.))

Kathy | 8 comments As Dot climbed the hill that led to her Grandfathers' house, she wandered about the notes meaning. Her Mom never willingly took the twins anywhere alone! The sound of the water as it passed over the rocks penetrated into her thoughts as she crossed the short bridge. The sound made her feel calmer. One thing about living in Japan, the gardens and parks were filled with things you could feel even if you could not see them.
In the Tori garden across the bridge Dot passed the men walking their birds. Every morning they gathered with their cages and made the rounds. Today though the birds all seemed to be agitated and their anxious cries were causing Dot's feelings of anxiousness of her Mother's note to escalate once more. She finally reached her Grandfathers' and cried out to him,"Jiji, what is happening, where is Mother?"

She flung open the door to a dark room only lit by candles. "Grandfather?" She asked and took a step inside. "My mom said you wanted to see me." She was about five steps in the house and then the door slammed closed. There were windows in the room but were all boarded up. She screamed at the door slamming. "Hello?" She asked.
"Soul, you have such a pretty name. The reason you let people call you Dot i do not know." Dot's grandfathers voice said. Dot was going to answer but was cut off. "Please take a seat in front of the candles. Her eyes had adjusted to the darkness and she could only see the silhouette of her grandfather. She did what she was told and sat. "Soul, you might want to forget about your family for a while." Jiji started. "There is something that i feel happening."
Dot and her grandfather were alike in ways, she was able to feel and comprehend physical things, but he was able to feel mental things, and he was never wrong.
"What do you feel happening?" Do stammered still shaken by his first comment about her family.
...
There was a pause and no matter how her eyes adjusted, Dot felt the whole room fill with darkness. "All of the world will start losing color and eventually feel. It will be as if everything is a gray scale hallow gram. And only few people have the power to return it to its regular state. On those people, is you, Soul."

(S) Dot looked at her granfather. She stood there for a bit, unknowing. "Is my mother okay?" she managed to say. "And the twins?"

She gasped and sat frozen. After a few minutes she managed to whisper, "How?"

message 7: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 15, 2010 10:37PM) (new)

Dot's grandfather, Jiji only smiled. "That is not up to me, Soul. Your siblings and mother aren't in my hands." He narrowed his eyes and looked at the floor. "Soul," He gulped. "Would you like to play hero for a day?"

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

She shook her head, overwhelmed. "What can I do to help them? I'm nobody, Jiji"

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Jiji soothed out her hair. "You were meant for something big, Soul. There's...something you need to know." Dot looked at her grandfather and nodded. "You see...your mother..." He shook his head. "How can I put this?your mother never intentionally wanted to give birth to you. She...she just chose the wrong man. She didn't know she'd give birth to you." He bowed his head in shame. "I...I'm not the bad guy, Soul. Alexander, your real father is."

Dot's fathers name wasn't Alexander. "But my father's name is Jake." Dot said starting to rise from the floor.

"Jake isn't your real father, Soul. A man named Alexander is. And he is the one that is taking feeling from the earth. Alexander, is a Raloid." Her grandfather said remaining to sit.

"What is a Raloid?" Dot asked.

"The same thing that you are, Soul. Your father passed if down to you." His voice was calm and collected. "A Raloid has the power to restore feeling to things, it's needed so that animal, plants, even humans don't die. Everyone, every second is losing feeling very slowly. But once they are touched by a Raloid. It is fully restored."

"So if a Raloid touched a person that was dieing, the person dieing would be okay?" Dot asked.

"There are more ways to die then just loss of feeling." Was her grandfathers answer. "Have you heard of the saying 'If a tree falls in the woods and no one knows about it, does it really fall?'" Dot nodded. "The scientific answer is 'no, the tree didn't fall.' But you have the power to know about that tree. If may be not as important as whenever a person dies from no feeling, but you will know about it."

Dot looked at herself, she had a magic touch? She though. She didn't feel any different or look any different. "But how is my real father draining feeling from everything?"

Her grandpa opened his eyes now. "You're father has practiced the arts for many years. And he has found a way to drain feeling, and the only way to do that. Is to also drain feeling from the Raloid's family members."

Dot was afraid and she didn't know what was going on. A dang came from the roof and then pounding came on the walls and doors and windows. "They are here to take us." Her grandpa whispered and blow out the candles.

Dot became wide-eyed. "But...grandfather..." Jiji hushed her. "Hush, child. I shall tell you the plan." He blew out the remaining candles and sighed. "Near the kicthen is a cupboard. Open it and you'll see food. Please remove the food at once. At the end of the cupboard, it should look the same. Please remove the frame of the cupboard and there should be a door. The door has a lock, but there's no need to worry. I have the key, Soul." Jiji's worn eyes looked at Soul intently. He handed her the key. Dot ran quickly toward the kicthen. "Go, child. Your siblings and mother are depending on you!" And with that, the door was busted open and Jiji was slammed against the floor, his words echoing on Dot's mind.

Dot climbed into the cupboard and closed it behind her. It was nothing there but a small little space she could barely fit in. She waited.

Soon a huge crash came and the sound of wood breaking.
There was a guy that spoke, and her grandfather responded. But their words were muffled and she couldn't make it out.

Several more crashes came and silence fell over her. She waited for what seemed like an hour or two and came out.

The house was a mess. Two walls had been taken out and part of the roof collapsed. Dot looked around. her grandfather was nowhere, and neither were the goons. Dot looked to where her grandfather had sat. And a note was there but it wasn't addressed to anyone in particular.

It read:

You probably are the last person I want to kill. But it might have to happen. My plans are to take the whole world and turn it into a place, where no one would get hurt. Where no one could speak, or fall, or hear the heartbreaking things that are out there. You could join me. You could join me and together we would run the world, pain free. But I know you won't choose that. You're, other, family is waiting for you. But you are lost. Since it is your actual birthday. I'll give you a present. A map. A map to where you will find the a place to meet me. It is on the back of this letter. So now that you know where to go.
Daddy's waiting.

End letter.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Dot looked at the letter one more time. The letter was written in...blood.

Dot looked down at the letter and didn't know what to say. Her brain raced as she looked at the blood letters and couldn’t help but think it was her grandpas. Her eyes began to water. She flipped the paper over and saw the map. It was a map of the Amazon jungle. 'But that is on the other side of the planet!' She thought. 'This whole thing, is going to...' she thought. "DAD!?" She called out. "If you can hear this!" She paused. "I am not afraid!"

She walked out of the house. The sky's were now gray and were the plants and small patches of grass that surrounded her grandpa’s house. She went over and touched it. She watched as color returned to the plants and surrounding grass. “I feel numb.” She said when she couldn’t feel the plant when she touched it.

She walked away from the house. Her first objective was to get money.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Dot numbly stumbled home. She grabbed her birthday money, which wasn't much. When she couldn't find any money in the house, her gaze settled on a vase. Her mother had loved that vase because it was by somebody famous. She took it, planning to pawn it off. She felt bad about it, but it had to be done. After she had the money and some supplies, she took another look at the map. "Okay, 'daddy'," she muttered. "Here I come."

(S) She stopped at the pawn shop, getting an extra 9000 yen, and continued on her way.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Dot pocketed the money and set out for the bus station. She paid for a ticket, heading south. She tried not to think about the peril her family was in, and concentrated on finding her father.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

The driver of the bus coughed like crazy. Dot sat in the front, slightly annoyed with it. She touched his shoulder. "Uh, can you die more quietly?" She asked sweetly, laughing her head off on the inside. The bus driver didn't even flinch, as if he comment hadn't been heard. He slightly turned his head, and grinned crockedly. "Daddy's coming." He said, in the exact impression of her dad, Alexander. The bus driver turned back and coughed worse then before, acting like nothing happened

StoryWeaver | 75 comments Dot realized she'd frozen still almost scared to even breathe let alone move...
Had she really heard the driver say that or was fatigue slowly overcoming her?
What was happening?
Where were Mom and the twins? Was Jiji still alive? Had he been taken someplace? Were they all being held against their will at the place the map seemed to indicate? Was all this some elaborate way of forcing her to comply to things she didn't even know about yet?
Well! ,Dot thought, I've lived my life loving to experience things to the deepest..guess its time to 'join the Dots'! This teeny weeny segment of humor pierced through the gloominess of her mood .
She suddenly did a double take...my fingers...they're tingling!!! Look's like my ability to feel things can be affected by my Dad's people unless I make sure I can keep up spirits...
