Okay, here's what I remember:
The three characters meet at a big eclipse gathering out in the country. There are three kids: a well-adjusted, prissy model girl who has to move. She is moving into the house of the other girl. This other girl lives out in the country, and is really into astronomy and is really sad that she is moving, just like the model girl. The last kid is a boy who is going to the gathering to help his grade in science.

I remember that the cover was a dark bluey purple. The point of view of the kids alternated in the chapters.
