What kind of reader did you get, Rae?

message 154: by CaliGirlRae, Mod Squad (new)

CaliGirlRae (rae_l) | 2017 comments Mod
I got a Nook Color and I heart it soo much. I used to really want the Sony Reader for a while and then the iPad 2 until I tried out the latter at Fry's Electronics. I wasn't really comfy with it for some reason but later on my friend told me about the NC and all it's features so I heavily considered it. I think it was their recent update with flash capability that finally sold me. :-D

Hi Everyone,

My name is Clare Dargin and I am new to goodreads and new to this group. I've been up to my eyeballs in editing my new paranormal medieval romance and my ir/mc romance Cold Warriors for Decadent Publishing. Hopefully it will be out by Sept. 2011.

Delaney Diamond (delaney_diamond) Welcome, Clare! Nice to meet you.

postcrdprincess | 397 comments Hello everyone,

I'm finally able to get back to my reading. This has been a hard couple of months.

First, I was in the hospital and then sent to physical rehab for a medical condition that I have (Myasthenia Gravis) that was in slight crisis mode. I'm back at home, but I'm still having good and not so good days. But, I am getting a little stronger every day.

While dealing with all that my grandmother passed. Although I will definitely and truly miss her, I know that she lived a LONG and GOOD 97 years.

So, now I am looking forward to wrapping my brain around romance, crazyness, strong women, loving men, passion, etc. (everything that has nothing to do with me)LOL

message 160: by Delaney (new)

Delaney Diamond (delaney_diamond) Postcard, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing. My condolences to you and your family. From previous posts I gather you were both very close, but it sounds like you've come to peace with it.

I don't know much about MG, except I believe it can be quite painful...? I'm glad you're feeling better.

Chaeya | 454 comments I haven't been around much. Unfortunately, I've had to deal with a tragedy, as my dear friend and bass player, Theron Brison aka No'Fass on Bass and Thee Ram Jam from Bootsy Collins' Funk University, was killed last month, murdered by a co-worker. He wasn't just a gifted a musician, he was a recovery counselor for substance abusers, and a counselor for troubled youths. He was a good man who was always laughing, joking around, but helping people.

I didn't just lose my friend, this changes my music project, because you don't just go find another "him." We were supposed to go into the studio the week he was killed.

I wrote about it on my new blog over at:

http://www.electricgentlemen.com/blog...

If you don't want to read my long diatribe, you can scroll down to the end where I've posted some websites featuring Theron.

He was very loved and many of us are dealing with his loss, so we're just taking it a day at a time. A group of us musicians, along with the youth choir he coached, are getting together to do a benefit for him next month. That isn't going to be easy. I tried to sing one of our songs and broke down. Some days are better than others. I've been writing a lot and employed an editor for my book, so that's one good thing. I can hear Theron in my head urging me forward.

Chaeya

message 173: by Chaeya (new)

Chaeya | 454 comments Thanks. We met with his guitar player from his other band. We're doing a tribute concert for him next month. He's going to play bass for us, and he sounds a great second to Theron! It was great support for us to get together, so we're not grieving alone. It's still hard, though.

postcrdprincess | 397 comments Hello Everyone,

I am back! I have been M.I.A. for a while. It seemed like everytime I turned around something was going on. I've been going back and forth to the doctor and have finally been cleared to not see a doctor's office for at least 3 months. My daughter is finally back on her school's campus (she spent her fall semester abroad in Spain).

I decided to go back to school in the fall and although that has been a great decision it has been a hectic and busy one since I am carrying a full load. I feel live I have gotten adjusted, so I have gone back to my reading so that I can relax.LOL

I have missed the posts and thoughts from this group and I am glad I am back!

message 182: by Paganalexandria (new)

Paganalexandria | 4065 comments Oh it was so good! I was a little bummed that Ritchie Sambora wasn't there. I was really looking forward to hearing them sing "Dead Or Alive". They didn't have an opening band just them playing for almost 3 1/2 hours.

That's strange that Sambora isn't there. Did he leave the group?

message 184: by Paganalexandria (new)

Paganalexandria | 4065 comments They had some kind of issue about two weeks ago and Ritchie left the band mid-tour.

Michelle, I feel your pain. I just started school in March (flex semester). I had to do online classes for this period because all the lecture classes were full and having "shiney ball syndrome" makes it hard for me to focus on my work.

I'm doing online classes too- also flex semester. Every time I get online to do my class work, I find myself on goodreads.

That's a good idea. I keep thinking of some audio books that I can get into.
