If you don't your house burns down.

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments In that case I'm going to start supervising that lint collector in case it's not getting the attention it needs !

No no no. That's just the dryer lint. I've done that. The washing machine lint won't burn down your house.

The trap or filter is in different places depending on the model.

Cheri | 795 comments Washing machine lint traps. The world and how it works is a never ending mystery. Just when I think I got some shit all figured out, I realize there is so, so much more to learn.

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments Barb wrote: "I had no idea my washing machine had a lint collecter ... other than crud settling in the fabric softener well."

My lint collector is not a deluxe model its just this little mesh bag that hangs off the inside of the wash bowl bit. I don't think I have a fabric softener well or if I do it's hiding out.

message 1262: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Who would have thought that there was a lint collecter in a washing machine. I always assumed it drained out with the water.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i am a lint sheriff. i do a good percentage of the laundry around here and i check the lint trap every time i walk into the laundry room. if someone else has been doing laundry and not checking the trap i ALWAYS rip the thick felt of lint out of the trap and say 'YOU COULD MAKE A SWEATER OUT OF THIS". every time

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3594 comments Holy Smokes! A washer lint trap! Now, where did I put that manual . . .

It bugs me that bills from the hospital only announce the amount due - not an itemized bill. I have to spend my time calling three or four times to get one, and I've found mistakes several times.

I didn't know there were dryers in the sixties . My M&D still had one of those washing machines with a wringer on it . Mum squashed her fingers in it one time . We also had this big boiler thing called a copper where she would boil all the white clothes . Dad was a pastry cook so he wore white cooks gear.

I acually haven't had a working dryer at my house since last September/October. We use the clothesline mainly.

message 1297: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I ADORE my clothesline. I am very bothered by housing developments that do not allow clotheslines. Stupid.

message 1298: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I don't have a dryer which means my room is invaded by wet clothes quite regularly.

message 1299: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I have good friends who hang clothes on the line in cold weather, kind of a freeze drying process. Both of my grandmothers (Inez and Zelda) did this as well. You bring frozen clothes inside to thaw/finish drying.

I am of less sturdy stock and use the dryer in the winter, except for blankets and small rugs and stinky blue jeans (smell like gas, motor oil, etc.) Stinky work clothes must be dried on the line, as they can wreak havoc with the dryer. Been there, done that.

I completely love freeze drying my clothes. As long as the sun is out and my diapers get bleached a bit I love it.
