hello, I am new to Goodreads and I have been reading Presents for over 25 years. Wow I am getting old. But they do help keep me feeling younger. :)

Welcome to the group, Lynne. HPs are timeless and there's definitely no age cap for enjoying them :).
Welcome Romanceandcoffee, Vi, Leona and Lynne!I hope you'll like it here and i wish you Happy Reading!
Hi. New to the group. I started reading HP quite a few years ago during a time of great stress. All I can say is what a stress reliever! I've been addicted every since.

Hi, my name is Aruana (pronounced Ariana). I'm from Cape Town, South Africa. I've been reading Mills & Boon, as we call them since I was in Grade 5. My Mom read them and I used to sneak and read them. After a while she just gave up on trying to stop me! Weird to think back in the day they really were very tame. I have some books that go back to the 70's : amazing how they have changed. My fave authors in those days were Penny Jordan, Violet Winspear, Charlotte Lamb.I like holding a book in my hand, therefore don't have a tablet/Kindle etc.
I get teased about my Mills & Boon reading, but I just love sitting down and getting lost for a couple of hours.
My current favourite authors are: Melanie Millburne, Sarah Morgan, Abby Green, Jacquelin Baird, Sandra Marton and Michelle Reid. I'm missing a lot of their first books though
I have 3 very good second hand bookshops in my area and I visit them frequently!
I was at one stage a big Historical Romance reader, but I've gone "off" them. Used to read a lot of Catherine Coulter, Johanna Lindsey and Judith McNaught My first Historical was The Wolf and the Dove - I was hooked.
My Mom is also a avid Mills & Boon reader and we swop books between us.
My favourite themes: forced marriage (father looses all his money and daughter has to marry hero), pregnancy, revenge.
Recently I've really become to like the Russian heros. There's something "dangerous" about these men that grew up in the Soviet Union in poverty.
I'm so glad I found a bunch of like-minded ladies!

Welcome Aruana - I love your author list...right up my ally! I too love the historical authors you listed, but since they don't write anymore, i can't seem to get into many of the new authors...although I do read a few more then you listed, but same goes with most of them as well. Enjoy the ladies here, we all have a lot of fun talking about our beloved HP's!
I forgot two other authors that I adore! Linda Howard and Anne Stuart. I've followed them from their days writing for Silhouette etc. One of my favourite Linda Howard books was Heartbreaker. I still have it - bought in the early 90's - it's falling to pieces though.I love Anne Sturt's dark heroes, especially in the Ice series. Sometimes they aren't even likable! But she draws me in every time.
Btw, I have a question to ask and I'm not sure where to post it: who writes the best love scenes? I have to say I like it when they call a spade a spade. I'm not really into purple prose. I must say some recent writers have actually shocked me - but in a good way.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Aruana
Apologies, multiple posting here - I'm a bit careful to just start a new thread.Anyway ..... who here is on Pinterest? Some great HP authors use Pinterest to storyboard their books. You guys should especially check Abby Green out. She creates a Pinterst board for each of her books and populates it with pics of the hero she envisages, the heroine (what she looks like, hair etc), the locations (cars, apartments, cities). I also correspond with her. There is a book of hers that was set in Cape Town and I asked her about it. She has apparently been here and did go to the places she mentioned in the book! I also give feedback to her on her Facebook page, the same with Lynn-Raye Harris. They are very friendly and give feedback on your comments. You really get a feel for the characters and the environs.
You have to join Pinterest, but if you are on it, check out Abby Green's Boards:

Aruana, I love Anne Stuart. My favorite author. I have been following Abby Green and Caitlin Crews on Pinterest and I love their inspiration boards.
I added Lynn Raye Harris.
As far as HP authors writing the best love scenes, I'll think on it. I might start a thread for that discussion.

Hi everybody! I'm new to this group & I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Natalija. I come from a Russian speaking family, but I was born and raised in Latvia. Since 2007 I live in Italy. I started reading HP a couple of years ago in order to learn Italian, but ever since then I have become a fan.
Hi, Natalija. Beautiful name. Welcome. The ladies here are very friendly. I just recently joined myself and was made to feel very welcome.

Hello everyone :) My name is Komal and I try to read an HP at least once a month. Some of my favorite authors are Abby Green, Maisey Yates, and Lucy Monroe. I joined this group to broaden my horizons and find more great HPs to read. I also find that there aren't many people to talk to about this genre, so it'll be nice to finally get a chance to talk to fellow HQN readers :)

Welcome, Komal! We are happy you joined us.
I love this group because it's great to be able to talk about HPs books without getting the sneer and the judgmental comments.

Okay Guys, I've been around for about 2 weeks or so, but I came across this pic of me - I was in Grade 9 and already an avid Mills & Boon reader (this is 1982). This was taken on holiday.
We should have a challenge!

That's awesome, Aruana. I wish I had a picture of me reading an HP book. I might have to get my sister to take one.
Hi all. So pleased to see this group! I'm a fan of romance in general, but nothing beats the angst-to-page ratio of a good HP. My fave HP authors are Lynne Graham (LOVE!), Michelle Reid, Sarah Morgan, Lucy Monroe, Jacqueline Baird, Anne Mather, Carole Mortimer, Catherine Spencer...basically anyone who can make me cry and still give a solid HEA in 191 pages. :)I'm noticing new authors cropping up quite a bit these days and am looking forward to hearing the group's recommendations on who to try next.

Welcome to the group, Emma! You found a nice home for your HP addiction here with a nice group of ladies to be your enablers.
Based on your favorite author list, you might like Annie West, Abby Green and Jennie Lucas if you haven't tried their books yet.

Welcome to your home away from home Emma, love your HP authors as they are some of my favs too.2nd Jennie Lucas, will add Maisey Yates to the list as she is fast becomming another fav of mine.
Thank you for the warm welcome and the author recommendations. I may have read one of Abby Green's books, but don't think I've read the others. Clearly, I've gotten into a bit of a rut! In any case, I can't wait to check out their backlists now. :)
