Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) | 10 comments Have you ever avoided the ending of a book because it is so wonderful you don't want the story to end?

If so, what book?

I am currently avoiding the ending to "A Wrinkle in Time" but I know there are more books in the series, so I'll probably finish it soon :)

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 906 comments I've never avoided ending a book before, but there are some where I wish I hadn't read the ending after I did finish it. Some of them because I didn't want to know how the story ended and others because I didn't like the way the story ended.

Kaion (kaionvin) To the OP: Never.

I have waited between installments of a series (I'm in no rush). Or purposefully saved some books of a favorite author's oeuvre so I'll have new shiny gems to peruse in the years to come.

I have also stopped reading books because I could forsee the story was about to implode, destroying my previous good feelings (Little Women).

message 5: by Zimbellina (new)

Zimbellina I've slowed myself down when reading to drag out the story if it's really good. The last book I did that with was Under the Dome by Stephen King. I was reading it without breaks but I wanted it to last a little longer so I would make myself put it down for a little bit. Didn't really work though since I still read it in about 3 days ;)

Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) | 10 comments Kaion- love the idea of making other books in the series gems to be discovered years later.

Kandie- my sister also reads Stephen King books. She says the family stories in his books are unbelievable. I've drug this book (A Wrinkle in Time) about for about week, reading only 30 to 40 pages at a time. I have 30 pages left, but I am so anxious the ending will let me down that I can't seem to go on.

I love Stephen King and since I've read almost all of his books, when a new one comes out I like to savour it :)

Aww I hope the ending doesn't let you down!

Erich Sysak I often felt that way as a kid when I discovered fantasy and sci fi: Tolkein, Donaldson, Anthony, Lem, etc...

Karendenice It always saddens me when I finish a great story, but I never put off reading the end. I am way too curious and would find myself not being able to concentrate on the other book that I may have going.
