Heather | 504 comments The fact that you took the time to learn English is a major kudos for you! You empowered yourself and you are doing a good job too!

I read The Wedding and didn't like it; the heroine didn't bring anything special and I didn't quite care for Connor. Only read it once and that was enough..

Samantha | 106 comments Actually I dont know I didn't feel any diffrence when I was studying for english at school. But then I joined Goodreads and I always listen English music so I unserstand that learning english great and we have to learn it:) thanks!
Well I like The Wedding, too but not as much as The Bride. I think I like Julie Garwood's writing style:) now I'm trying to read Lisa Kleypas's books and I dont know the last book I read force me. I just think leave but then forced myself and complete the reading. What are you think about Lisa Kleypas?

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Samantha, I wonder if in the translation of Lisa Kleypas books something gets lost? Which book are you reading of hers?

message 54: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments It was always interesting to me to have books translated into a different language. I wonder who takes all the time to do that...

I totally agree Samantha. Basically, I only like books with strong female characters. But I have no patience for stupidity, period

Gaijinmama | 53 comments <<Sashana I could give you a list of fantasy books as long as your arm. Paranormal and UF are fantasy and I love those too. For traditional, maybe you could even say classic fantasy, start with The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, and if that doesn't launch your starship try the Prydain Chronicles byLloyd Alexander and The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle

But I thought to try read English( no translate) and well firstly its ok but then I began sweat cause sometimes it can be really hard for me!I trying to read Seduce me at sunrise because it'S the only Kleypas's book I could found in bookstore. there'S no one try to read english book they are waiting for translate so I cant have so much option. Also when I started to reading Secrets of A summer Night I just cant read it for a while but then I loved it so much:)
Lauren when I started my high school and meet with english I was thinking about studying for translating. because I love books and english but then I give up....

Well Kenjiii, glad to run into you here. And...since I may be the only one here actually living in Tokyo, I have to say indeed, my city is beautiful and it's also good , bad , ugly and crazy (in a fun, fascinating way) and there are an endless number of places to explore. I personally wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
If you ever make it over here I will totally take you out for a Matcha Frappucino at Starbucks

Unapologetic_Bookaholic @Gaijinmama oh I got chills. That's a good sign. Perhaps one day I'll take u up on that offer for coffee. I have the urge to travel and if I get the need to settle down somewhere I will. Thanks for the heads up. Might be coming to visit =D

Stacey | 12 comments Lisarenee wrote: "Stacey, I would think that would be challenging to work with kids so young. Do you need to figure out how to customize the style of education the kids receive to fit their needs?"

In part, yes. I do initial evaluations (psychoeducational assessments) that lead to a diagnosis (Autism, ADHD, general delays in social-emotional development, etc.), consult with teachers and families, write reports, and contribute to IEPs. I absolutely love my job! It's the perfect mix of challenging and rewarding.

Stacey your job sounds very interesting... It must be hard for the parents to cope when they realize that their child may have this social-emotional developmental delay. What can you do for the parents when they are so upset like this?

message 89: by Sans (new)

Sans Well that's what I get for not reading the rest of the threads before introducing myself on the other one. I'll just subject you to this again, shall I?

My Favorite Book(s): Pride & Prejudice, As Luck Would Have It, Annie's Song, Robotech: The Sentinels, Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Graceling, anything with a 4 or 5 star rating on my "read" shelf.

My Favorite Movie(s): Star Trek (JJ Abrams reboot), Pride & Prejudice (BBC and 2005 versions), Bourne trilogy, Charade, Clue, The Big Sleep, Star Wars (original trilogy)

My Favorite Celebrity: Stephen Fry

My Favorite Author: Jane Austen (if I have to pick only one)

My Favorite Music: Muse, Florence + the Machine, Damien Rice, Patrick Wolf and anything with a cello

Sign: My sarky answer is the two finger salute. My legitimate answer is Cancer & the rooster

Day Job: legal, HR and executive assistant at a private equity venture capital firm

If I could live anywhere in the world it would be: Anywhere in Scotland. Except Glasgow. Glasgow didn't leave me with good lasting impressions.

Weird stuff I’m into: I've been a fan of Doctor Who for as long as I can remember and I collect notebooks and journals. I never write in them, I just collect them.

Why I read: It makes me happy. The best way to end a stressful day is to get home, change in to comfy jimjams, fix a drink and sprawl on the couch with a book for an hour before everyone else gets home. Plus, reading gives me a way to escape the doldrums that everyday life brings. I get to experience a world that is nothing like the one I live in.

message 93: by Sans (new)

Sans Hi Heather, thank you for the welcome. Graceling is the book that made me love fantasy and YA again. I'm still a little bit in love with Po. Cashore's second book, Fire, was amazing too. I highly recommend it. I can't wait for Bitterblue (third in the series) to be released.

I used to tell people I was a malignant cock when asked what my sign is. The reactions that got were priceless.

message 94: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments LOL, that's a good one Sans! I have a comic strip in my locker with a farmer looking at two animals and listening to their story but then he realizes which animals they are; cock and bull (get it?). I showed a friend the Graceling book and she said she had already read it and it was very good so I knew I may the right choice.
