6.The easiest part about it: Chatting to a good friend about books and life
7.Strategy for staying awake: Chatting to said friend & occasional cups of coffee

Definitely the best idea to read with a buddie. Time never dragged, I was always surprised when it was time to stop reading. Can't believe the 24 hours is up! You also learn things about your friends that may not have come up in normal conversation, in this case, in a good way. Go SciFi, Go Steph!!
As Steph said Thank You Mods for allowing us to do this over 3 days.*Hugs & Kisses*

6.The easiest part about it: Laughing about life and H/h dramatics, sharing quotes and SCI-FI trivia with my friend and now go-to RATbuddy! Following along while Sandra read books I've already read felt like a re-read freebie. :)
7.Strategy for staying awake: DITTO! Chatting to said friend & occasional cans of soda.
Plus anything else you feel like adding in.
I agree 110% Go Sci-Fi, Go Me! LOL! Nah, I've had the most fun with this! I was a little leary at first, but Sandra made the time fly by and didn't complain about my constant post bombardments. We managed to chat about things outside of books, while reading, and although I knew we had things in common before this, this RAT has proven that to be truer than I would've guessed.
Thank you, Sandra, for doing this with me! And, thank you Mods for allowing us to split between 3 days!
Congrats for finishing Sandra and Steph! And no problem about the 3 days.. it's all about having fun :) And I'm glad to see that you both enjoyed it.

Some optional stats to post:
-The number of pages read: According to GR, 3,375 pages
-Your favorite reading position during the Read-A-Thon: I was on my bed for awhile, laying on my back. But once that became uncomfortable I switched to a chair in my living room.
-The hardest part about it: Honestly, nothing was really hard about this. It was a terrific day!
-The easiest part about it: I had my books already picked out and sitting on my table, so it was easy to just reach over and get another one.
-Strategy for staying awake: I actually ended earlier than I wanted to because I couldn't stay awake. I read more the next day.
I think the key to reading as much as I did was to switch up the genres to keep myself interested. Reading book after book of the same thing would have made me crazy. Also, coming online to post up where I was and reading where my buddies were was really helpful. I also timed my eating to when I was taking a break and going online. This really maximized my reading time.
I had a really great time, I would definitely do this again!
:) Glad everyone's having so much fun with this. It was a cool idea. Glad I was able to join in. How'd you like Hex Hall and Almost to Die For?
Surprisingly I enjoyed them both. I have to do my reviews still, but Hex Hall of course was similar to a lot of other YA school PNR books... and yet I still enjoyed it lol.Almost to die for was a little cliche at first and definitely predictable in some areas and then I felt walloped on the side of the head at the end. It's a little something I've never seen before. Not in terms of, a new type of character, but a new combination I'll say.
The number of hours of reading time 23 split over three daysThe number of books finished
Books started but not completed during the read-a-thon
The number of pages read Not really sure I read most books on my nook but I think something like 1875 pages according to Amazon
The hardest part about it It was hard for my to focus, normally I just st back and read and if it is a great book I keep reading this time I felt like I had to read so I would switch books or my mind would wander. I also noticed I have a lot of activity in my life something is always going on here at home.
The easiest part about it like someone said before having an excuse to be lazy and read all day
@Dawn - I found that I didn't have a hard time reading during the read-a-thon, but after I still feel like I just don't want to read. I think I burned myself out lol.
Jess, I'm not surprised you've burned yourself out. That was a lot of reading in such a short time. At least you enjoyed it. LOL.As Dawn said grab an awesome book and you'll be right.
Jess wrote: "@Dawn - I found that I didn't have a hard time reading during the read-a-thon, but after I still feel like I just don't want to read. But for the read-a-thon I felt like I couldn't, that all I could do was read. For that reason alone I don't know that I would do something like this again.
@ Jess - I know...I have a read a few short stories but have mainly been listening to audio books...@ Darcy - Ditto......
Isn't it interesting how we are all such reading fanatics, and yet many of us had issues with reading all day. Strange.
I think that breaking it up into 3 days worked for Steph & I, in that whilst we still spent looooonnng stretches reading, it was the couple of days break that allowed us to keep our perspective. I don't think either of us felt burned out. Of course, we were lucky we didn't have to limit ourselves to the weekends either.
We had a great time & we'd probably be happy to do it all again sometime in the future.
