Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments That is a very interesting choice Gail! I live in Tucson and not all that far from where the shooting happened last January. Definitely has been interesting around here. She is definitely a great example of recovery from the worst of situations.

Gail (widowretiredyahoocom) | 83 comments Thanks for your comment Camille, I am really enjoying reading it and what in inspiration she and her husband are!

Carolyn E | 239 comments I just finished reading The Lost Quilter by Jennifer Chiaverini. What an awesome, heart-wrenching story!! I think I would rate this a perfect 10. It continues the story of Joanna, a young pregnant, runaway slave who is taken in by some sympathetic abolitionist women in Pennsylvania in 1859, just prior to the start of the Civil War. The story begins in Book #4, The Runaway Quilt in the Elm Creek Quilts series.

This is a wonderful series. I highly recommend it.

Jessica Strack (netsiren) | 75 comments Finished reading Plain Promise by Beth Wiseman last night. It was so good! I think it's my favorite in the series so far. I was so excited about starting the 4th book in the series that I went out in the pouring rain last night to get it from the library. I'm already on chapter 3. I love this series and I'm going to be sad to see it end.

I own "Sarah's Garden" I'll have to read it now. I've marked "Lily's Wedding Quilt" as to be read.

I sort of figured that towards the end of this book when they talked about Cannan. I'm excited to read the two books (I'm hoping there is more coming) in that series.

message 520: by Carolyn E (new)

Carolyn E | 239 comments To Camille: I applaud your efforts. (My son is also in law school--his last semester.) However, I don't think I will add Constitutional Law by Erwin Chemerinsky to my "to be read" list.

message 521: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments It's my last semester too Carolyn. hahahaha. It's not a bad read, it's just slow and time consuming, but important stuff.

I finished Something Old last night and started Something New this morning. I had gotten it through NetGalley. It's still available if you're a blogger. Both Amazon & Christian Book Distributors show it due out on 2/1 -- not too long to wait.

message 523: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I just started our group read, Hannah's Journey by Anna Schmidt, and I'm really enjoying it! The perfect book to read to relax with the evening after my final exam :)

message 524: by Carolyn E (new)

Carolyn E | 239 comments It's been a while since I have read Hannah's Journey, but I think I really enjoyed it. I think I will try to read it again. Since my memory isn't so good any more, I find that I can re-read books, and it's almost like reading them for the first time. Although I do seem to be able to remember the story better after the second reading.

message 525: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I've just started A Life of Joy by Amy Clipston and I'm really enjoying it. It's great catching up with Lindsay and Jessica and seeing where their lives are at now.

Amelia's Journey A prequel to the Winds Across the Prairie series by Martha Rogers

message 532: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I finished A Life of Joy by Amy Clipston today on the bus to visit my parents! Loved this book, but really want to read the next book now - and it's not out until June! I'm now on to The Wings of Morning by Murray Pura, having an Amish fix right now since exams are over :) This one's a historical novel so I'm intrigued to see how it turns out.

message 533: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I am currently reading Conflict of Laws: Cases and Materials. Thrilling, I know! But school is going to eat almost all my reading time this semester, so I had to change my reading goal to 50 for the year. :(

message 534: by Shaz (new)

Shaz (zabooksihaveread) | 74 comments I have just finished reading Sharpshooter in Petticoats by Mary Connealy. This is book 3 in the Sophie's Daughters series. When I started reading the Sophie's Daughters series I didn't realise that there were two trilogies before this one and so this one being book 9 completes the entire story lines and characters that have appeared in other books. Must see if I can find the other book trilogies now.

Just deciding what to read next.

I was totally hooked after the 2nd book. I like how Jennifer bounces between time periods and family members from one book to the next. I've never been one for history but I really enjoyed The Union Quilters: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel. I think the enjoyment for me came from knowing were many of the scenes in the book take place.

Shaz (zabooksihaveread) | 74 comments I have just finished reading Matchmaker, Matchmaker... by Anna Schmidt. After reading Hannah's Journey was interesting to read another book by Anna.

About to start reading To Win Her Heart by Karen Witemeyer.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I'm reading The Wings of Morning by Murray Pura and I'm LOVING it! I was sceptical of the premise and the blend of historical and Amish fiction but I'm 3/4 of the way through this book and finding it very hard to put it down!

message 541: by Tia (new)

Tia I am finishing up Friendship Bread

message 542: by Carolyn E (new)

Carolyn E | 239 comments I have just finished reading The Keeper by Suzanne Woods Fisher. This is the first book in the Stoney Ridge Seasons series. I enjoyed it, although I wasn't too crazy about the ending. It was a little too pat. It could have ended quite happily without the incident with Menno. But I loved Fern Graber. She is a delightful character; a wonderful contrast to the other characters in the story. I would like to hear more about her. Still, it is a good story, and I am looking forward to the future books in this series.
