Where do you read most?

haha, i can honestly say that reading never makes me sleepy, although there are tons of times that i am too sleepy to read.
I am like you, I tend to read the most in the evenings before bed, but that has more to do with the fact that is the only time in my house that its quite enough for me to read more than half a chapter at a time. Really i can read any where, at any time the mood hits. Usually if i want to read during the day and can't at home, i go to either a Starbucks or Panera Bread, and hang out drinking coffee and reading. I also love reading in bookstores. I am one of those people that will take several volumes of manga and find a place to sit(usually in a chair out of the way) and just read. Before i moved there were two bookstores that i could spend 4hours or more at a time just sitting and reading. I miss that, I dont have a favorite haunt here that i visit.

I work mornings so I can read pretty much anytime of the day and at work I could just spend my time reading, but I always chose to read at night. I've never really hung out at a store or anything to read though. I used to spend a good chunk of time just browsing the shelves at bookstores, but then I found this site... now I can just spend hours on end browsing books here. >.<
Before bed does make for awesome quiet time while reading though.

For the longest time I worked evening shift and couldn't read at work...hell i could barely sit down much less read heh. Which is why i got into reading to being with, I hate t.v. for the most part, especially daytime t.v. so i always read before work, and once i got home to unwind i would read.
And for me bookstores are just very relaxing. Something about the quite milling about of people that i love. I can be around people without being bothered by them is nice. I actually get irritated if someone tries to interrupt my bookstore time.

Ah, I work at one of my campus' libraries so I have ample time to both sit and read at work. XD I'm with you on the TV thing. There are a few series I love, but other than that, it's mostly garbage that I don't really care about.
That's pretty interesting - being able to handle people in that kind of setting, but not in others so much. How often do you find yourself at the bookstore? Do you ever just go to the library and do the same thing?

Actually I can't stand the library for some reason, it's too unorganized for me. And I use to go to the bookstore once a week now its every other week at most.and I think the reason I like it is that I'm normally dealing withpeople in intense situations so its nice to be around ppl that aren't depending on me or needing me for something.
I read just about anywhere.
But more often than not, I read in our large comfy chair. The LCC is often surrounded by books I'm reading, or checking up on.
Right now, it has Jingo, The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory, Schrodinger's Kittens and the Search for Reality: Solving the Quantum Mysteries Tag: Author of In Search of Schrod. Cat, Night Watch, The Name of the Wind, and The Universe in a Nutshell on it.

The library seems unorganized to you? O.O They're... super organized though. Do you not like that genres aren't together? (or are they together? i haven't been to a library in a while)
That's understandable - wanting to be around a calm group of people. It'd certainly be nice after having to help people all day.
@Andra
I don't think I've ever read on the beach, which is a shame because now there aren't any beaches around. Though I do actually hate sand, so maybe that's why. >_>
@Glodson
LCC? Also, that sounds pretty awesome. It's a nifty image just thinking about a large, comfortable chair surrounded by books. Very nice!
@Harry
I'd imagine it's pretty quiet there as well. That does sound like a pretty nifty place to read.
Have you ever dropped a book in the pool while reading?
Also, it's nice knowing I'm not the only one with a favorite place to read. It's actually really awesome.

Was the book ruined or were you able to save it in time?
Ha, that's a great way to determine how quiet a place is.

Oh it is nice. The couch and chair combination we got last year is very nice, and great for getting comfortable on.
It is there that I often read, or play my DS. Very good for it.
And our books are closer to it now as we had to move our tree bookcases out of what was the guest bedroom last year.

Well the libraries around here are very unorganized. Its like they only have 3 sections, Fiction; Non Fiction; Children/Teens. So its nearly impossible to find what I am looking for. That and they are always too noisy.( I know...a library noisy, but it is) I actually miss my old school library, it was two stories of heaven. They were so organized it was a breeze to not only find what you were looking for but also very easy to browse. I guess I just need a simbalance of order when it comes to my books. I even keep my own bookshelves ordered. The manga is in one area, hardbacks another, series are always together, and ofcourse they are grouped by author as well.
@ Glodson...I use to have a large comfy chair, it was awesome. it was one of those over sized chairs that could fit two people, i could curl up in it and just read for hours....then my grandparents stole it from me. >:(

The LCC is great. We had an older one before that the cats turned into a makeshift cat home.
One loved to get inside and attack people from underneath when they came by.
It wasn't easy to relax in if you forgot he was there and lowered you foot to paw level.

Ah, that does sound pretty terrible. Having a noisy library isn't so surprising these days - it seems more people go to them to use computers and whatnot than to read. >.<
I find, with the books I do have hard copies of, that I often place them in order of size. I should go by author, but... the unevenness in the size of the books bother me.
@Glodson
The attack cat sounds great. :D
Also, I was slow in realizing LCC meant "large comfy chair."

Yeah, I wish they would put the computers in a separate area that can be closed off. Thats what my school library did and it was very nice. Now if i could find a library that was a little bit more quite, and was a bit more organized then i would probably be there more.
I have that same issue with hardbacks, which is why if its a series I get all hardbacks so they can go together. If thats not possible I just keep the hardbacks at the end of the row so that it doesn't bother me as bad.

At work I read out on the patio during breaks or at my desk when I'm band printing. At home I tend to read in bed.

...and at all different times...just not all the time :)...
@Dian
Should you move again, one of the requirements of the place you move to should be an awesome library!
@Diva
High five for another bed reader! What's band printing?
@Platy
While driving to work? o.O Is there a lot of stop and go traffic or something?
@ Dian again
In the bath? I don't know if I'd be willing to risk a book for that. Sometimes I have clumsy hands. No, I'm not clumsy, it's my hands that are!

I've never dropped a book in the bath. One of the most relaxing thing is takin a hot bath with a glass of wine and a good book
Baths are nice. Wine not so much. Substitute... tea for the wine and it would be good for me. Maybe at some point I'll have to see how baths and books mix.
Band printing is the boring job of putting the printed warning on the bands that hold 3M respirators(masks) onto one's face. Most product will run for about two hrs per roll, so you get awfully damn bored waiting to drop a roll and start a new one. Technically we're not "allowed" to read anything that isn't 3M related while out in production, so that's why I said I had to be able to hide any book I read while bandprinting. lol

I miss being able to do that. The relaxing in the tub with a book part, I can't drink wine. Damn cat ate the bathtub plug & I am trying to find a replacement that fits right, lol.

Pretty easy it was on the edge of the tub. I found him lying in the tub chewing on it. This is the same cat that stole my keys before too(he grabbed the keychain with his mouth). He also can open some doors & learned to say mom. Today I found him in the fridge trying to eat the cheese. Anybody want a cat? lol

While driving..."
...nope...i just threw that one in there for a laugh...i hate seeing people reading while driving...if i tried something that stupid, i'd probably wake up in a hospital, prison, or at the bottom of a lake...

Oh honestly I wouldn't give up my Stinkerlou for anything. lol. If only I could get him to not lick every new book I bring home. ewww. lol.

I find I read the most at night time for a couple hours before bed almost every night - lately I've been too sleepy to read. There's just something about being in bed and letting myself be absorbed in a book. The only problem with this is I've trained myself to read when I'm tired... so if I read during the day it makes me sleepy. >_<
