Anita Blake - The first 10 to 12 are worth reading though.
There are some series that aren't quite sh*t yet but they're on their way. Only time will tell if I give up on them.
Don't waste your time on:
House of Night - I was sucked in then strung along and it just got worse. It was like crack, so difficult to wean myself off. I have not read Burned. I will not read Burned. I will not.
The Historian - You're better off reading Dracula instead, trust me on this. It's marmite -you either love it or hate. Guess which camp I'm in.
The Vampire Diaries - It's nothing like the TV show, however you will see it's the original Twilight.

But I hear you -- I will skim if I get bored and just get to the end.
Recent skims for me have been:

These are series I likely will not return to or finish. Even though the next ones are listed on my TBR -- they are on a special shelf (maybe continue series). That is how I deal with my OCD. LOL.
And there are some books I recently stopped, likely not in the mood for -- even though the writing was good or I love the author, for some reason they didn't capture me -- I kinda put these in a different category. I will return later, just not in the mood for them right now:

I agree with you Ames. These books aren't worth it.

I am one that loves LoTU, but I can see how someone wouldn't.
I've picked up Historian a dozen times, but still haven't read it. Guess that's not necessarily a bad thing.
LMAO Ames RE: HON. I am with you on that one, all but being able to ween myself off. That I haven't been able to do, unfortunately. That series frustrates me to no end. But ... I keep reading it hoping it'll change? Isn't that the definition of insanity? "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."
I recently pushed through "Embers" by Laura Bickle b/c it was the BOM for a group I belong to and "that's time I'll never get back". :P

And I agree on the Lara Adrian books, they are all very similar.
I recently blogged about how much I hated The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I only made it to 40% and I want my time and money back. I just don't get how it's so popular.

I haven't read GwDT, but I have seen the Swedish movie and really liked it. I have a tendency not to read a book after I've seen the movie, don't want to ruin it if I liked the movie (LOL), so ....?

I agree with The Historian I tried to read it three times before I gave up... but The Swan Thieves is slowly improving my opinion of Elizabeth Kostova's abilities.
and I was very much let down by the TV show for Vampire Diaries! I read this series when I was 13 and loved it and I was completely disheartened to see such a HORRIBLE TV SHOW! grrr!
Help? what is "LoTU"?
Oh and I enjoy The Women of the Otherworld series, but for some reason I can't read past book 8... :( I could not even skip 9 and pick up book 10 (Frostbitten) but I can't seem to do it... I almost feel bad about it, but maybe I just need a little break.
and *embarassed blush* as cookie cutter as the Midnight Breed series is.. I call them my "Guilty Pleasure" reads, they make my hubby uncomfortable - He read one once and was upset: "No real man can preform like this! is this really what you women expect?" ROFL, oh dear!

LOL! Sorry, that's Gena Showalter's "Lord of the Underworld" series.
Keep going, if you can push through, with Women of the Otherworld. Talk to DarkHeart (and Sandra, maybe, I forget). They were stuck too. :) We'll cheer ya on, if you need a friendly nudge.

Oh! hahaha, the capital "T" threw me off! Thanks for the help Steph!
Yeah, the same thing happened when he found a Harliquin Romance stuffed into my "It was a Shyte Day" emergency care bucket in the bathroom: it includes bubble bath, candles, heat socks with pedi-oil, and a wine glass with a single serve bottle of red wine and a "naughty read" book... He can be so sensitive sometimes, and he won't buy that this is how WE perceive our men to be! gessh!

I really hated the ending. I think some of my hate comes from the fact that I paid full retail (RRP = Recommended Rip-off Price) for the hardcover when it came out after reading so many positive professional reviews. I don't read them at all any more and I try not to buy hardcovers, at least not at full price. Lesson learned.
Errronious - As for Women of the Otherworld, I had a really tough time with Personal Demon (#8) and Living with the Dead (#9). The Cortez family got me through #8 but Hope (she did not deserve 2 books), I dislike her so much I barely got through #9 -it got 2 stars from me, that's the lowest rating I've ever given one of Armstrong's books. The only thing I liked in that one was the bad guy (or rather, girl) and her situation. Frostbitten (#10) is a lot better, I was relieved.
Amy - Good to know! I will be loading 9 and 10 on to my Kobo this weekend. I know that I will enjoy Frostbitten simply because it involves Elena and Clay, and I liked 8 Personal Demon simply because there is something sexy about bad-boy Marsten! Mmmmmmm

Ames - I wished Hope had met with an unfortunate accident, freeing him up for someone better. LMAO!! Shame on you wishing harm. LOL! Karl definitely made it worth while.

Have a series you started and just couldn’t finish or one you’ve been reading for a while and has gone to sh*t?
Is there a series that you would recommend friends NOT waste their time reading or do you let them read it and decide for themselves? (maybe they’ll like it?)
