Madison Yes you have to read the host. its as good as the twilight series. well i think so anyways. and alot of people think so too.

message 8: by Lynny (new)

Lynny (lynnyo4) READ IT!!!!! it is sooo good! you just have to get past the first like 6 chapters and then it is just as good!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 9: by Avery (new)

Avery (ambiese) yeah i definitely think the host is as good as twilight. but in a different way...there's a lot more physical stuff (NOT graphic, since stephenie meyer is mormon and all...lol) and a lot more passion (if that's possible...) but the writing is just as amazing and her characterization is AMAZING!!!!! omgosh wouldn't it be amazing to be stephenie meyer???!!! it makes you want to get inside of her head and figure out where her genius comes from...

message 10: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) Read it, if you can get past half-way you'll love it.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

yes! the host is really good!
i would say its one of my fav. books... it would be right under twilight

message 12: by Susanne (new)

Susanne Oh yes. The Host is amazing! It's about 120 pages in before it really takes off. I got it for a Mother's Day present, and I finished it off in 2 sittings! Great book! You won't be disappointed!

message 13: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (kutiegirl106) Kay, I'll definetly read it.

message 14: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) good

message 15: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) Ok, I'm trying to get past the beginning...I'm on Chapter 7 and soooo bored. I know I've heard the "get past this point and it's great" but man oh man...my mind starts to wander and I have to reread like 50 times.

message 16: by Melgado (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:35AM) (new)

Melgado | 10 comments I am obsessed with The Host. It is a different obsession from Twilight, but still in the same club. You have to get through the first 2 chapters. After you read it, read it again- it makes more sense. I dunno about everyone else, but I read it super fast...sortof like how I read New Moon..

message 17: by Yasmin (new)

Yasmin (dreamsfromanotherplanet) | 285 comments Simple... NO WAY TWILIGHT IS THE BEST, The Host was totally awsome, but no where near as good as Twilight. But you should still read it it was really good, but Twilight is better :D But to be honest, they are two completely books and stories os you can't really compare them :D

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I read "The Host" and really loved it. It is completely different than "Twilight", though it has a bit of the same feel since it is written by the same author. I really liked it.

message 19: by ♥*Suzie*♥ (new)

♥*Suzie*♥ i didn't like it was...while let just say the first 10-15 chapter were really boring...i thought it was ok, but i won't read it again..let just say the end was better.
But that was just me!!!!

message 20: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) I LOVE the end!!!!

message 21: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (superbea) I definately recommend the host!!! READ IT!!! and I can't quite decide if I like it better than Twilight... I think I do! But I still love twilight!!!

message 23: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) I just finished The Host. It took getting through half the book before it got interesting for me, really boring. The last quarter of the book is best parts to me. I liked how it ended.
I read a lot of reviews that hated how Mel and Jareds reunion isn't summed up. It wasn't really about them though so it doesn't bother me. I mean we knew it would be tears, kisses and lovey dovey stuff. Probably a love scene she's not willing to describe. It was Wanda's view of them that was the point and how she goes on from there. As for this being an "adult" book...and yound teen to could this without a mothers worry. It's so tame and boring, just like a made for TV movie on the Lifetime network.
I'm convinced that the sex that Edward has promised to try with Bella isn't going to happen. (sorry if that's blunt lol) She's much to PG-13 to talk about that even in an adult book. ANYWAY, it was disappointing but worth the read.

message 24: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) How does Mel and Jared's relationship not sum up? The kicked Jamie out of their room. and it said he was old enough they didn't even try to come up with an excuse. Dosen't that sum it up? (I'm not explaining it if you don't understand.)

message 25: by Erin (new)

Erin | 45 comments lol

message 26: by Eleven (new)

Eleven I just got done with The Host. Read it. It's really amazing. Meyer ain't no one-trick pony.

message 27: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) i hope she writes a sequal!!!!!!!!!!!! she said she might not. :(

message 28: by Yasmin (new)

Yasmin (dreamsfromanotherplanet) | 285 comments yeah that would be really good :)

message 29: by Susanne (new)

Susanne I loved The Host! As I mentioned earlier, you have to read til about 120 pages in.

I do however think that some story lines could have been expanded on. Mel & Jared getting it on doesn't in my opinion wrap it up, but that's just me. Not to mention the others that they meet at the end of the book that have a commune like Jeb set up. I think there is plenty to go on for a sequel... but maybe that's just my wishful thinking!

message 30: by Lulliannie (new)

Lulliannie (lullisbooks) Stephenie Meyer said that she wanted to write a sequel, but I don't think she has started working on it yet.

message 31: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) oh! i agree! plenty of room for a sequal!

message 32: by Dulcie (new)

Dulcie Pavuluri (dulciejoyoptonlinenet) Good but different and I felt her characters were not as developed as the vampire series. Interesting idea though and worth the read just for that but it does get boring and confusing at certain points so make sure you don't rush the read.

message 33: by Susanne (new)

Susanne Lulliannie~
Can I ask where you saw that she said that? If it was an interview I missed that. The next thing she is working on is Midnight Sun, according to her official website. I would love it if she was indeed planning a sequel to The Host... maybe i can find where you saw it!!!!!! I would be totally excited!

message 34: by Lulliannie (new)

Lulliannie (lullisbooks) MTV: Do you plan on writing "Host" sequels?

Meyer: I hope. If I were to continue on with "The Host," which is a possibility, there are characters and stories that could continue. ... If I went ahead with that, it would be two more. ... Next would be "The Soul," and then "The Seeker."

Naomi (catfanatic) thanks

message 36: by Lulliannie (last edited Jul 22, 2008 11:19AM) (new)

Lulliannie (lullisbooks) You're welcome

message 37: by Susanne (new)

Susanne Thank you Lulliannie! See, that's my problem, I don't watch MTV or read it either! LOL!!!
Thanks again so much!!!!!!!!

message 38: by Lulliannie (new)

Lulliannie (lullisbooks) Your welcome Susanne

message 39: by Amber (new)

Amber | 4 comments I actually read The Host before I read the Twilight Saga. I really liked The Host and that is why I read her other books. I think I like the Twilight Saga better only because I am just so much more involved in the characters after the 3 books. It gives you more time to get attached and it becomes more personal. For me anyways...I think there is a good chance I would feel the same way about the The Host if Meyer were to make it a series.

message 40: by Sella (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:15AM) (new)

Sella Malin I have The Host patiently waiting for me on my bookshelf...I'm just caught up in reading all these other books and I've never gotten around to it...I'll probably start it after I read Breaking Dawn. ONLY A FEW MORE HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 41: by Laurel (new)

Laurel | 12 comments I just finished reading The Host and I really loved it. I liked it pretty close to the amount that I like Twilight, but I don't really feel that you can compare the two because they are so different. I really enjoyed the plot. I was hooked from the beginning, but this may just be Stephenie's writing. I have so far been easily drawn in to her books and her characters. If you haven't read it, you definitely should. I honestly wouldn't have read it if Stephenie wouldn't have written it. The basic summary of it did not interest me at all. Who knew?

message 42: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) wow. sersioly? The plot was WAY interisting to me. I couldn't wait for it to come out. and not just because it was a meyer book.

message 43: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Hmmm... this is encouraging, I just got the book and I'm going to start reading it this week, at least it's getting good reviews lol :)

message 44: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) lol. good. remember: read it twice. You'll understand it a LOT better the second time!

message 45: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) Is there going to be a sequil to the Host? It seemed realy un finished.

message 46: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) How so?? I hope she will, I heard she might, it would be awesome.

******SPOILER******

I kind of would like one from Melanie's point of view now that Wanda is out of her head so that we can see her and Jared's relationship blossom and grow. I'd like to be able to see them get to enjoy it now that they are safe and together again. Or even Wanda and Ian's relationship too because this is the first time that Wanda will actually be able to enjoy being a human in a new body without a voice sharing her head and she'll get to experience all the human emotions and sensations without the worry of violence or death, she'll get to let her guard down.

message 47: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) Remember? Wanda and the folks (haha folks) found the other humans that had that soul that was all nice like Wanda with them.

Is it kinda weird that I started to fall in love with Ian before Wanda did?

message 48: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (luv2readbooks) | 1 comments I loved The Host! It is hard to compare it to Twilight because it is diffrent but it is extremely good. I am going to read it agaian soon.

message 49: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Lol Yeah I liked Ian too but I also liked Jared because of Melanie's description of him lol. Yeah I really hope she makes a 2nd one!! Yeah I was surprised about how different it was from Twilight but I loved it because some author's books all sound alike and I like that The Host wasn't like that but it still had Stephanies brilliant personality.

message 50: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) As I've been re-reading them, you can tell they're by the same author. The way the characters think, act, their personalities, etc.
I thought it was pretty interesting.
