Hajar Y, (quillandkindle) | 105 comments Best wishes to you in completing your challenge for this year!

Some of the titles did grab my interest esp The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I saw the movie few months back and I think the ending was quite shocking (to me lah kan). I gather the book must be good too?

Fairy Fairuz (fairyfairuz) | 25 comments sedih!!I think the book is kinda depressing for young adult readers, I don't recall reading any depressing ones when I was growing up hahah!

Ironically, I saw the movie trailer first at the end of 2008, then picked up the book but till today I still haven't watched the movie.sigh.Not sure if the book & movie have similar endings..

In that case, the ending must have been similar. A very good movie though despite the gory, sad stuffs.

Fairy Fairuz (fairyfairuz) | 25 comments I hope the movie plot doesn't stray too far away from the book.Where did you watch? I couldn't find the DVD in KL.Was it on Msian cinema?

Johnny B. Rempit (johnnyrempit) | 287 comments Wooo... Are you a Hitomi Kanehara fan? I've wanted to read her novels for ages. In your opinion, who's better? Ryu Murakami or Hitomi Kanehara? Or are they both good?

message 10: by Fairy (new)

Fairy Fairuz (fairyfairuz) | 25 comments hi!I'm not really a fan of hers lol but 'Autofiction' is quite a good read.It started out quite slow though.Imo, Ryu Murakami's better, obviously he has more experience.I couldn't put down "Audition" when I first started, I wanted to finish it quickly to know the ending heh.But of course, you should try Autofiction, you might like it.It's full of emotion, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the character .I'm looking for her earlier book, heard it's good.

Johnny B. Rempit (johnnyrempit) | 287 comments Cool! Thanks for the tip. Just finished reading 'In the Miso Soup' recently. I like Ryu Murakami but I'm a huge fan of Haruki Murakami. I've almost read all his translated works. Really looking forward to his latest book, '19Q4'.

Fairy Fairuz (fairyfairuz) | 25 comments wow Haruki Murakami!I tried to read "After the Quake", still stuck on the 2nd chapter! His style is totally far too deep for me, but I'm not giving up lol. What book would you recommend for a beginner?Hey you should check out Natsuo Kirino, she's a psycho..her books I mean :p

Thank you Fath, yea jom 50!though lately I couldn't finish a book pon haih :|

Johnny B. Rempit (johnnyrempit) | 287 comments Natsuo Kirino was cool. I've read all her books. Grotesque was really... Japanese. No other way of saying it. BTW, the best Haruki Murakami novel to start with is South of the Border, West of the Sun. After the Quake isn't really a good place to start.

Fairy Fairuz (fairyfairuz) | 25 comments Thanks for the suggestion, Johnny & Nazmi!Since I'm not so familiar with Murakami sensei's writing, it was kinda a hard book for me.Nazmi, my friend yg journalist recommend buku tu hahah!Die kata 'should be easy for you'. Alamak tak senang rupanye..
