Amanda I think this book is.. alright. It is a fun novel for young readers, and to be honest, I think a lot of people would enjoy reading it. The story is engaging and makes you want to read more! The only part that annoyed me was how the author kept mentioning how you should not read on. I mean chapter one was not even a chapter it was just a bunch of *******************. But I do like how the author was mysterious and you could really tell he was hiding something. I would recommend this book to the age group of 8-12. If you are an adult, I would leave this book on the shelf.

Kyle Its really not that good the mystery was easy to decode and solve as the book went on. Definitly not one of the best. Good for 8-11 no older

Olivia i liked this book; it had some weird twists to it

Becky whats it about??

Sarah Not liking the negative reaction! Then again, I'm a psycho fan of this series and always feel I need to defend the awesomeness of it.... *shuts up*

message 6: by Becky (new) - added it

Becky what is it about though??

Sarah I went on a little ramble about this, and GoodReads wouldn't post my comment.... I'm definitely the wrong person to ask, I can discuss this series for many consecutive hours. So, I'm going to repost the GR synopsis here:

This is the story about a secret. but it also contains a secret story.

When adventurous detectives, Cass, an ever-vigilant survivalist, and Max-Ernest, a boy driven by logic, discover the Symphony of Smells, a box filled with smelly vials of colorful ingredients, they accidentally stumble upon a mystery surrounding a dead magician's diary and the hunt for immortality.

Filled with word games, anagrams, and featuring a mysterious narrator, this is a book that won't stay a secret for long.

Becky thats so cool thanks

Sarah No problem, I hope you read it so I can have someone else to nerd out with! Most of the fans on the fan club have been kind of busy lately, and the author's personal assistant had to tell us to limit the amount of comments we posted per post to three (we were commenting every two minutes, it was pretty insane).........

(8 hours of rambling later)

....and that's why now I have to read the Hunger Games, JUST TO PROVE MIKE WRONG!!!!!!!!!! X[

message 10: by Becky (new) - added it

Becky I have read the Hunger Games #1. It is a realy good book!

message 11: by Becky (new) - added it

Becky thanks agian

Sarah Ah, and now you are number *counts* 9,467,122,349 on the list of people telling me to read the Hunger Games. My friend keeps saying that it's better than the secret series, but even he admits he only says it to irritate me. Nevertheless, I will read the Hunger Games, both to prove him wrong and to satisfy the other 9,467,122,348 (I don't want to bring HIM happiness, just the other people!) people telling me I must read it. ;) And now I'm rambling....

You're welcome again. :D

message 13: by Becky (new) - added it

Becky haha... they are really good books though. You should enjoy them.
Don't worry that your rambling... i don't mind reading long things.
It's just one of these books that you either love or hate. Hope you enjoy it

Desiree *Primrose* Read the Hunger Games. They are amazing. Anyway... 8-11 really? I really do not fit in that age range...

Sarah And congratulations, Desiree, you're number 9,467,122,350 on the list of people telling me to read the Hunger Games. ;) I will haha.

I don't fit the age range either. :[

Kyle, I'm almost thirteen and it's my favorite book.

My friends and cousins love it too. I practically spend my entire life on my fan club, or discussing book five theories with my friends..... So you're pretty much talking to the wrong person. ;) I don't like to start fights, but I'm always willing to defend my favorite series.

AND OMB PB FINISHED BOOK FIVE!!!! :D I freaked out the other day....

Olivia Well yea it is pretty awesome and epic but my favorite books are definatly the iron fey series by Julie Kagawa the books are even mire epic and awesome then these

Kyle I'm also 12 and i say it stinks. I guess if youve never read a decent book than its awesome but compared to harry potter its microscopic.

Sarah I actually liked this series more than Harry Potter. Oh well, I guess we just disagree.

Woah, woah, woah. Stop. Just because someone doesn't like the same books as you, doesn't mean you're bettwer than they are.

message 32: by Gabby (new)

Gabby I started reading this book, but to be honest, I just couldn't get through it. The author was trying too hard to be funny, and the constant reminder that "You should stop reading this" annoyed me. Eventually, I was happy to oblige, and get on with reading less annoying/ try hard books.

Sofrench The book is tagged for Age 9-12 in amazon.com
It is a wonderful book for kids at this age but not older.

Nolan Keebler I read this about a few years ago and don't remember much of it. But I remember it was AWESOME.

Sofrench Never been so happy to be wrong
I am very happy to discover that a young reader like you enjoys reading and sharing his reading interests.

message 42: by Ayah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ayah Its not the best series but its good...

message 43: by Nina (new)

Nina Most of you post comments about your age and stuff, but I think everyone can read this book regardless of age. Yeah right, I'm only 12 but still, if you like the story, then go read it even if you're 15 whatsoever. I think it's a really good book with all the mystery stuff going on :)

He was trying to imitate Lemony Snicket- Snicket's works are my absolute favorite so I bought the Secret Series because it reminded me of him. I actually liked them but sometimes they got boring, like you say, he was trying too hard.
