Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 219 comments Good Omen for me is more of a Pratchett book since it is Gaiman's first book.

message 4653: by Amy S (new)

Amy S (amys_r) | 23 comments I could be wrong but doesn't Neil Gaiman write in the children or teen genre? Not that it's a problem, I love his books. Especially in audio format with Neil Gaiman as narrator.

I don't think you'll ever think of him as just a YA or childrens' author again.

American Gods is going to be a HBO series, so you know its a book not for children or even YA.

Amy S (amys_r) | 23 comments I have read a couple of his books, I was just asking because that's how I've seen some of his books listed. Genres don't natter to me, I'll read just about anything

Lanie (icevamp) | 145 comments Or read some of his short stories like Fragile Things - quite a few adult themed stories in there. I never thought of him that way, just a great storyteller. Neverwhere got me hooked.

Lanie (icevamp) | 145 comments Kevin - Good Onens was awesome! Loved that book! He did not do the audiobook but he does do most of his books - I like that!

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments The Caretaker by A.X. Ahmad--a goodreads win. A standard actioner, but with an unusual hero: an illegal alien from India who gets caught up in international espionage. Deeceptively simple tale beautifully written.

Amy S (amys_r) | 23 comments Wow, I just finished The Circle Series by Ted Dekkar and just WOW. I read both the original and the alternate endings and I believe I like the original ending best. It really makes the series a "true circle" in all ways. What do you others that have read both endings think?

No, the alternate gave a semi- definite ending whereas the original made a circle ( I don't know how to mark spoilers so I have to leave my comment at this)

Tracy (notrace) | 105 comments Now reading We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

message 4682: by Tee (new)

Tee I'm 3/4 of the way through Little Women and 1/3 through Les Miserables.

Not only am I participating in the Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge, but I clocked in a lower amount of books because, for the most part, I wanted to read more challenging/classic titles. These ones definitely count.

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments Les Mis has been on my TBR for a long time. Maybe get around to it next year. Good luck!

I loved The Passage and The Twelve! Can't wait for the 3rd to be released. How are you liking The Passage so far?

message 4693: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I really liked The Passage, but I stalled out about midway through The Twelve. :(

message 4694: by JD (new)

JD (jdprickett) | 12 comments Amy, love The Passage so far... quite a change in tempo once part two begins, but I'm hooked. Not hearing great stuff about The Twelve

message 4696: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) To be fair, I was reading it around the time that I was preparing for a move, and had changed positions at my job, so it could have been me. I've heard that the 2nd half is where it really starts to pick up, and I didn't quite get there.

Maybe I'll pick it back up at some point and see.

I can honestly say that in this particular case, the movie is better, not that I would watch it again. The book itself is a bit tedious.
