Alondra Miller reading Ghost Road Blues, which is excellent so far and Murder on the Links is waiting in the wings; with Thirst No. 1: The Last Vampire, Black Blood, and Red Dice halfway done. :)

the first 3 are pretty good, i thought 4 would have ended it, but sadly it does not. i thought we were getting the old Koontz back; but this is just my opinion. the reason given by certain beings in the book make no sense, so it threw me off i think... mmmmm

Matthew Behling (MattyKB) | 109 comments I remember reading the first and second book, but then it took so long for the third to come out that I forgot what happened and lost all interest.

message 4055: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford by Jamie Ford last night. I really loved this book! Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a beautiful, fascinating, tender and moving story from beginning to end. Like the title suggests, the story is such a bitter-sweet tale, heartbreaking at times and so warm and sweet in others. All the characters were vivid, well-developed and realistic. I really loved the characters of Henry, Keiko and Sheldon, and really cared about what happened to them. I found it really hard to put this novel down and I look forward to reading more from this author! I gave this novel 5 Stars!

Now I'm a few chapters into The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck by John Steinbeck.

I couldn't even read the 4th book. After the utter disappointment of 3, I gave up on the series completely. I've lost a lot of respect for the man because of it..

I loved that whole trilogy!
I'm currently reading
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West. It's fascinating and frustrating at the same time. Very well written.

message 4067: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments That's odd, Joel, I just finished Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History. And it was absolutely amazing. One of the most fair depictions of Quanah Parker, the half white son of Cynthia Parker, captured by the Commanches when she was eight years old. When they finally found the band she was with, Cynthia was married to a Commanche chief, had children, and wasn't in the least bit interested in returning to "white" life.

... his older stuff is better; basically when he was signing his name, Dean R Koontz, and had a picture of himself balding. The toupee wearing Dean Koontz is odd... :/
