Tom Mueller | 305 comments Currently, I'm reading pt. II of "The Strain", trying to squeeze two more in . . .
the Biblioholic, Tom

ps. the actual title of this book is The Fall. Pt. I. had more action. I'm 3/4 through, still waiting for the bell. To be fair, "the Fall" does have considerable action, compared to *most* books. Hogan and del Torodo do not write *most* books. Having just finished Book I, I immediately jumped into "the Fall". Long Story Short[er], I had become inured to thrilling action offered by these two authors. Great Teammanship. [crap, I sound like a commercial, haha].

I really liked The Passage a lot, too. Upon finishing it, I want to jump into the second book immediately. Months later, I found out that it wouldn't be out until 2012.. I cannot wait to start The Twelve!

It's hard to fully describe without giving a lot away. Check out this link to Wikipedia on the novel. Don't read beyond the first two paragraphs of the plot description or else you will start to get into spoilers.

Courtney | 293 comments I finished Tick Tock. I alternated between semi-enjoying it, and outright disliking it. I ended up giving it two stars.

I'm now re-reading my all-time favourite book, Watership Down.

Tick Tock is amongst the Worst Koontz!

Try out
Watchers from him before you give up on him please... ;-)

Me too. I haven't read it in years, and recently it's been calling to me.

Mummi wrote: "Tick Tock is amongst the Worst Koontz!

I've read False Memory as well, and didn't like that one either. I have Odd Thomas on my shelf, which I'll read eventually.

Is Watchers the one with the dogs? I don't know if I'll like that... I like dogs, I'm just not a "my dog is my best friend" kind of person :/

message 3026: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Courtney- I think just about every Koontz story is about dogs, one way or another..:)

message 3027: by Courtney (new)

message 3028: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Yeah, it can become a little tedious after awhile, IMO..

message 3029: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (notrace) | 105 comments Reading We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver We Need To Talk About Kevin. I'm only about 40 pages in and keep getting distracted, not a good sign. It needs to go back to the library on Tuesda so I'm hoping it picks up soon.

message 3030: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 22 comments I'm reading IT again. I'm trying to find a Stephen King book I haven't read yet and can't decide. I've heard a lot of good things about the Dark Tower series but couldn't get into it the first time I tried to read it. so i'm thinking about giving it another try.

I'm reading The Dark Tower series now. I think it's awesome so far. You really should give it another try; you might be surprized this time around. :)

Blake Hoy Courtney wrote: "I'm reading Tick Tock by Dean Koontz - my second Koontz, and since I hated the only other one I read, I never planned on reading another but was drawn to the creepy little doll on the cover of this..."

Was there even the mention of a creepy doll or dolls in Tick-Tock? I would hope there was- at least to some minor degree! lol.

message 3033: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 293 comments Yeah, there was a creepy doll, but the story itself wasn't creepy. It was more of a horror-comedy, two genres which I don't generally like to mix :/

Blake Hoy Courtney wrote: "Yeah, there was a creepy doll, but the story itself wasn't creepy. It was more of a horror-comedy, two genres which I don't generally like to mix :/"

I had to ask because I thought that it would be hilarious if there wasn't a doll in it. It would be like me writing a story about creepy dolls, and on the cover was a tap-dancing circus bear. Now wouldn't that be a nifty cover? lol.

Hi, Melissa-

I would definitely give the Dark Tower books another go. Who knows, it might be a completely different experience this time around.:)

message 3037: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) | 64 comments Right now, I'm working through The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I'm almost finished with it.

Melissa--I agree with everyone so far, give it another go if you feel so inclined. Personally, there are times when I have to read a book/series a second time through to enjoy it.

I think it was just a bad time to start a new book, epecailly a series. I think it was senior year of high school and there was just too many actaul school books to read lol. After IT I'll give it another go.

Hi, Ellie-

What did you think of The Scarlet Letter?

message 3041: by Scott (new)

Scott | 401 comments I finished Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter yesterday. I really liked the first 2/3 but struggled through the end. I was really bored with that part.

Now I'm reading I Suck at Girls. I thought his first book was hysterical. Good so far.

The copy I have has a little blurb from USA Today on the cover saying the book is like "Willy Wonka meets The Matrix." Once I saw that I realized that could potentially be the greatest thing since Chocolate met Peanut Butter!
