I do! I've read all of his books - I'm just working on a chronological reread. It has been neat to reread these books 10+ years after the first read. I see more things than I did then :)

I finished The Wind Through the Keyhole yesterday. I really enjoyed it.

Then I started Scar Tissue.

Michelle, The Wind Through the Keyhole can be read independently from the rest of the series. However, I would recommend reading it after Wizard and Glass because there are quite a few spoilers within the book.

Scar Tissue is a really interesting and emotional read even if one is not a Chili Peppers fan. Though in some cases I think Keidis may have been a little too detailed about some of his past relationships.

I'm about 50 pages in and I'm enjoying it. I did a google search this morning to find out who his dad was. He was the drug dealer in Lethal Weapon that held the gun to Mel Gibson's head.

I finished The Gunslinger, which was fine but not as good as a Neil Gaiman. Now I'm working on The Drawing of the Three, which I thought is King finding his voice in fantasy. I'm enjoying it. Then Rik of the Sword and Laser forum said that I need to read other King books in order to understand the DT world. So, here is my list of what he said to keep things straight. *sigh* I sure hope I can read all this in one month and the DT series.

1. Insomnia, most important because it features the Big Bad and explains why he does what he's going to do.
2. Black House, which means I also have to read Talisman, because it is its sequel. Black House is the important one.
3. Eyes of the Dragon, set in Roland's world before Roland is born.
4. Salem's Lot important for book five.
5. Hearts in Atlantis has major implications for Roland and his crew.

Best time to read all these other books is between books four and five.

I disagree that you need to read Black House and Eyes of the Dragon first. The others have heavier connections, and while you don't need to read them to understand the series at all, I think you'll get more out of the series having read them first. They introduce characters that become important in the later books.

Book 2 of DT looks like it's some of King using his experience with drug abuse, which makes me wonder about the whole symbolism of the Dark Tower for him.

Thank you for sharing. But if I may intrude, I really do not feel it essential to read the above mentioned books to understand DT. Admittedly, they are helpful, they add more meaning to the series. However, it's also okay to read them later on.

Kathryn- Under the Dome's one of my all-time favorite novels by King.:)

I'm reading the 10th Inspector Banks' mystery In A Dry Season by Peter Robinson. A skeleton is found in the mud in a dried up reservoir and are trying to found out how the woman was murdered back in the 1940s. Pretty good read.
