Liked the story but found too much wrong with the technical side of it. My dad ran a tannery when I was a kid. Know too much about tanning to know he didn't research it well.

It's taking me much more time than normal, but the book is about 1000 pages. Seems you get just a taste of the plot here and there and then he moves on to a side story which then intertwines into the main plot again. There are a lot of references to other novels and even actual exerpts and synopses of other stories that tie into this story and this whole book is supposed to tie into 1984, which I have personally never read. (On my short list now so I can see what the tie in is supposed to be) The actual story is very surreal.

That's what he basically does in all of his books.
Im in the first few chapters of The Echo Man by Richard Montanari then will look at starting another Stephen King book
I finished 11/22/63 over the weekend. I really enjoyed it. I was really worried after reading some reviews. Then I started The Night Circus.

I'm reading 11/22/63 right now....Getting really interesting! I want to eventually read The Night Circus!

I loved Horns, I thought it was both funny and creepy!
Kathryn wrote: "I'm reading 11/22/63 right now....Getting really interesting! I want to eventually read The Night Circus!"I'm finding it very intriguing. It jumps around in time a lot and the writing style takes a little getting used to but I'm enjoying it so far.
Dustin wrote: "That's great that you really enjoyed 11/22/63!!"It took me awhile to read it but that really didn't have anything to do with the story. My schedule has just been very hectic lately.
There were some places in the story that I thought he could have edited it down but I think he had those parts in for character development. I gave it 5 stars. It was probably 4.5 for me but you can't do those halfs.
Just yesterday, I finished Ted Dekker's Black, and am now four chapters into Red (the next installment in the Circle series.)

I've been neglecting it....:( Need to pick it up tonight and get more into it to keep up with my 2012 reading challenge. :)
Kathryn, you've got to read Horns. I wouldn't put it off. It was amazing and unlike anything else I've ever read, as was Heart Shaped Box, also by Hill. BTW, I was also confused by the pitchfork. Lol!
I am almost finishedUnnatural ExposureI'll probably finish it tonight. I picked up a copy of The Passage today at my favorite second hand store, and am kind of looking foward to starting it next. All of your comments on it have me very curious.

HAHA, good to know I wasn't the only one!!
All of the good things I've heard about it are making me interested. Going to add it to my list of what to pick up next. :) Thanks, A.R.!
A. R. wrote: "You're very welcome."I went to the bookstore, and they didn't have it. I'll try to find it online. :)

I forgot about the public library, so I got onto their online database, and found they have 4 copies. Yay!
Just finished The Penal Colony by Richard Herley. It was free on Kindle, and I really liked it.Starting American Gods by Neil Gaiman tonight. I've heard really great things about this book. It's the first Gaiman book I've read, and I'm looking forward to it :)

I'm reading

I'm currently reading The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson...so far its not that scary but hopefully it picks up!

Penal Colony is about an island prison and its inhabitants. I thought it was pretty good. Not great, though.

The guy at the bookstore couldn't stop saying good things about Joe's books...So, you all have me convinced and once I finish reading King, I'll pick up his.

I've yet to read Gaiman and I can't wait, but I heard him doing a reading and the book sounded visceral. I bought my copy of Horns for my Sony Reader. Probably paid too much.

So far it's good, sort of... lol Hard to explain, I think I'll review it when I'm all done. I guess basically, parts of it are pretty unpleasant and I'm not talking about the creepy scary bits, those I love!

I know what you mean Josiah. I used to try to devour a series that I liked and found that I grew tired of it too quickly. It's been about 6 months since I read Book 1 of this series and I'm more than ready to tackle Book 2. Some people can read one after the other, but I'm not one of them.

I'm going to have to put this on my TBR list. I've seen several references to it and the fact that it is good. Let us know when you read it and what you think of it.

I loved Horns. I thought it was fantastic. I have a HC edition (and I hate HC), a signed paperback ARC thanks to a friend, and an e-version for my nook. I shall never be without! :P
Gaiman is also fantastic. I highly recommend American Gods. That's my favorite.
I just finished my very first Philip K Dick book, The Man in the High Castle, and I really enjoyed it. I'm now reading Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians & The Book of Negroes: A Novel. The first is very light and fun and cute... the second is very NOT any of those things. But it is very, very good.
Glenda wrote: "I'm going to have to put this on my TBR list. I've seen several references to it and the fact that it is good. Let us know when you read it and what you think of it."Glenda, Horns was excellent. It is one of my favorite reads from the recent past.
I'm reading Tribulation Force, the second book of the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Loving it!!

Its spooky??? I never would have thought it was. I tried to read it as a kid, but only got past the first chapter in the first book. Might have to read it now I'm older.

That book coming out in 2014 will nnot be his last. The only way he will finish Song of Ice and Fire is like what happened to Robert Jordan, is to die.
