I love that book, but I'm a little biased b/c it was my first SK book so it will always hold a special place in my heart, lol...
I'm reading
in honor of halloween and all, and b/c I'm writing horror reviews all this month on my blog. It's not scary, but it's okay.
Reading 'Salem's Lot. Figured after The Strain I'd continue with the vamps! It is October, after all!!Lena - The Amityville Horror was my first horror book ever! I was 12. :) It was pretty freaky to a 12 year old.

I loved Salem's Lot. One of the creepiest books I've read in years. Amityville...eh. Maybe when I was 12! :D

I re-read that thing every year or when there is nothing else to read. I really love it, and of course SK knows how to weave a tale. I also read The Talisman when the mood hits me. :)
I read SL 20 years ago, but really don't remember much about it, but I'm reading it now for a challenge on another GR group. (Hafta read stuff from the year you were born - it also fits into another category for another challenge - book that was made into a movie - so it's killing three birds with one stone. Third bird being it had been on my TBR list since I finished DT.)I really like the easy, conversational manner in which it is told. It's very easy to find yourself relaxing into the story. I'm only about 20% or so in right now.

Hi, Lena!
The Amityville Horror isn't all it's cracked up to be, huh?

SK talks about it in Danse Macabre, but I can't remember much of what he said about it. Other than it's the only financial horror book he could think of! Lol...it wasn't very scary. But then, not many books scare me.

I can not wait to see how it is going to end. This was a massive undertaking being over 1,000 pages, but when it comes to King thats never a bad thing lol.

No, that's certainly NEVER a bad thing, IMO.

Hi again, Lena!
Other than it not really being scary, what are your thoughts, overall, on The Amityville Horror?
Scott wrote: "Talk about creepy, I am in the final stretch of The Dark Half and hundreds of sparrows have moved into the big oak tree just across the road..."How do you like this story since you are a writer yourself? Are you connecting with your Dark Half?
This is one that I have not read yet.

Oh, definitely, Gatorman!:)
Just finished Drowning Ruth. Very different. I really enjoyed it. Just started World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Started Bag of Bonesbut so far it's not really holding my interest.
Dani wrote: "Just finished Drowning Ruth. Very different. I really enjoyed it. Just started World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Started Bag of Bonesbut so far it..."Keep reading. Bag of Bones starts out kinda slow from what I recall.
I thought Bag of Bones was excellent. It takes a little while to figure out what the story is actually about but it really gets going about a third of the way in.You are reading it just in time that you will be able to watch the mini series on A&E. I believe it starts in early December.
Dani wrote: "Just finished Drowning Ruth. Very different. I really enjoyed it. Just started World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Started Bag of Bonesbut so far it..."Yes, it's a bit slow at first but definitley picks up and finishes great. Well worth the time.
I am reading The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub. I tried Bag of Bones but didn't get very far - it seemed to move slow to me but will try it again later.

Maybe I'll pick it up again after I finish WWZ. Thanks everyone.
Oh man,
was the one that scared the crap out of me... even once I was older I'd think back on it and get a little jumpy!

Right now I'm going for something a little lighter. I'm browsing through
Essential Captain America, Vol. 1
and finally taking some time to read up on Scandinavian mythology so I've picked up a Finnish edition of Edda which attempts to explain the poems and the stories of Odin, Thor, Loki etc. (In part, I blame comics but mostly just my best friend.)
Just joined the group, and also just recently joining GoodReads.... so I don't know anyone around here yet, but add me if you want. It's always a pleasure to meet a KING fan or an avid reader or writer.Right now, before moving on to anything else, I aim to finish a old book I never finished!! Stephen King, "Secret Windows" and I am only halfway through a 400+ page book! Alas.... I shall finish the journey.
I'm a bit torn between which book to start once I finish this one next week, though.
It's kind of fun to be undecided..........
I finished Dead Man's Song this morning. I really love this story so far.I think I'm going to start The Long Walk this afternoon.

It's a suggestion for which direction to go next, anyway!
