message 752: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Well yesterday, I resumed my reading of Full Dark, No Stars, with the last story, A Good Marriage.

Erica (bookpsycho) | 109 comments Finally started The Passage.

message 754: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Mawson (lindsaymawson) | 4 comments I am reading Misery for the first time. I'm only 30 pages in but I like it so far! I love Stephen King's ability to write so chaotically!

message 755: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Erica & Lindsay!
First, The Passage is a fantastic read, IMO. I cannot wait for Book II. And Linday, Misery really means a lot to me, as it introduced me to the Stephen King Universe!

Does anyone have any idea when book 2 is coming out? I can't wait. I don't think it's till 2012. I'll have to research that!

message 758: by Gatorman (new)

Gatorman | 561 comments "The Passage" was the last 5-star book I've read. Don't know when Book 2 is coming out but am looking forward to it.

message 759: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Kathy!
As far as I know, the second book (The Twelve) won't be out until sometime in 2012..

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Dustin wrote: "As far as I know, the second book (The Twelve) won't be out until sometime in 2012.."

GAH! Want!

I really liked The Passage when I read it, but I had a few issues with it (that mostly went away when I figured out that it was the first of a series... LOL - I generally try to stay as ignorant as possible regarding books I want to read as I can.)...

I am totally looking forward to the next book in the series though. I NEEEEEEED to know what happens. EEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Sorry.

...Is that your dog? O_o

message 761: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) LOL

message 762: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments Me too, Becky! lol

message 763: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Yeah, I cannot wait for it, either!!

message 764: by Susan (new)

Susan | 8 comments Just finished Under the Dome and LOVED IT!!!!!

It was one of those (to me) on the bicycle, feet on the handlebars, riding down hill stories.

I really want to read this one.

message 769: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Regine!

You should definitely read Under the Dome, IMO.

message 770: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments Definitely, Regine! I totally agree! It's a great one! Don't let the size put you off. :)

message 771: by Dustin (new)

Dustin The size didn't discourage or intimidate me one bit. In fact, I reveled in its size!

message 772: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments Size doesn't bother me either....the bigger the better! But I know some people can be intimidated.

message 773: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi again, Kathy!
I can see how the size of the book could intimidate..

message 774: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments Hey, Dustin! :)
I've definitely had people tell me they absolutely won't read a book because it's too big! It's sad really, they are missing so much! :(

message 775: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 219 comments Kathy wrote: "Hey, Dustin! :)

Same thing has happend to me. Also, I would rather read the unabridged version of a book than the abridged version.

message 776: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments I completely agree, Kevin! I would never read an abridged version of a book. I just don't see the point of it! If I want to read a book, I want to read everything the author wanted in there in the first place!

message 777: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Me too Kevin. It annoys me that abridged versions even exist. I think they should have big red "ABRIDGED!!!" labels on them. LOL I went through several copies of The Count of Monte Cristo before I found an unabridged version. I was not thrilled.

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 219 comments Becky wrote: "Me too Kevin. It annoys me that abridged versions even exist. I think they should have big red "ABRIDGED!!!" labels on them. LOL I went through several copies of The Count of Monte Cristo before I..."

That was the exact book I was thinking of/comes to mind.

message 779: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments To me it seems like such a waste of time! And to have some random person cut stuff, it just doesn't seem right to have such power over an author's work!

message 780: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 219 comments I also for the same reason don't like abridged audio books unless its for a certain reason, like the only audio verson of the book or wanting to see what part of the book is cut off.

message 781: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I will say that the abridged audio of World War Z is great. It is done as a dramatization, and I loved it. I would have loved it more had it been unabridged, but taken on its own as a performance, it's definitely worth a listen. Otherwise, I don't like abridged audio either.

message 782: by Chris , The Hardcase (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 1169 comments Mod
Sai King mentioned in one of the DT audios (Wolves, I think) that he doesn't allow abridgements of his work.

message 783: by Kathy (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 612 comments Just finished Horns this afternoon, and it was awesome! But I'm sad, because I want more JH books and there is no more yet... :(
Not sure what I'll be moving onto next yet.

message 787: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Oh, WOW, Scott!! Awesome.

message 788: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 701 comments About 2/3 of the way through Fated. Great, quick, sometimes laugh out loud funny novel about fate and love and relationships.

message 789: by Dung Beetle (new)

Dung Beetle (dungbeetle) | 79 comments I’m about halfway through The Distant Hours, by Kate Morton. It’s about the old secrets uncovered when a long-lost letter turns up years later. The mysteries revolve around an English castle, the sisters who once lived there with their father (an author) and what happened to drive the youngest sister mad. I’m digging it immensely.

message 790: by Dustin (new)

Dustin I am FINALLY done with Full Dark, No Stars!!

message 791: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 119 comments What better place than this to say I am having a Stephen King month. I am currently listening to Under the Dome on Audio, Reading The Wastelands in paperback, and I just started Salem's Lot on my Kindle. I am loving all of them so far.

message 792: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 219 comments Dustin wrote: "I am FINALLY done with Full Dark, No Stars!!"

What did you think of the book, Dustin?

message 793: by Leora (new)

Leora Thompson | 3 comments I recently finished Full Dark, No Stars also. I loved it! The whole thing felt extremely real to me. I'm usually able to put myself into the characters with most of his stuff, but this one in particular.

message 794: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 612 comments I decided to keep it in the family and started We're All in This Together A Novella and Stories by Owen King this morning.

message 795: by Divya (new)

message 796: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Duma Key is one of my favorites. I loved it.

message 797: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Divya! Duma Key IS interesting, isn't it? I love it!

message 798: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) Wow, I just finished Insomnia! I didn't realize there were so many DT references, and I haven't even read the series yet! (I know, I know...) Not an absolute favourite but I liked Insomnia.

Next, a departure from the worlds of Uncle Stephen: The Great Gatsby.

message 799: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 612 comments Susanna wrote: "Next, a departure from the worlds of Uncle Stephen: The Great Gatsby...."

I love that book! We had to read it in school, and I think I was the only one in my class who liked it.

message 800: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) I'm reading The Picture of Dorian Gray
